Hi, may i ask since the written hieroglyphs nowadays only contain consonants, how do we insert vowels when we are pronouncing them? What's the general rule there?
Dr. James P. Allen, Ph.D., explains vowels are placed between each consonant. This is the usual grammar rule with other languages in the Afro-Semitic language family.
@@windchime2496 i (flowering reed) and u (quail chick) were written in hieroglyphs. There is currently no evidence that e or o were vowels spoken in ancient Egypt. Only the a was found in Egyptian proper nouns found in the Amarna letters, which were written in Akkadian. Therefore, unless the flowering reed or the quail chick is found in the word, an a is inserted between the consonants.
