Haven't seen y'all for a while. This song will almost certainly blow your mind. Wish it was the album version, as it is more tight and powerful, but this live version hits pretty hard on it's own.

I hope you guys react to the studio version, I think the singer was told to portray the 7 emotions of grief or the feelings involved before you die. Shock or Disbelief, denial, anger, bargaining, guilt, depression, and acceptance. It's such a masterpiece.

Please Google the song and listen to the studio version it's one woman Clare Torry did it in one take..The song is about the stages of death. Frustration, Denial, Fear then Change and Acceptance to a new Beginning it's a deep song Pink Floyd is a band that you relax to listen to their album from start to finish because it takes you on a journey

Sometimes words simply aren't enough to express our emotions in the face of adversity.
Yet, this song manages to convey these emotions even when words fall short.

The studio version of this song, which is usually considered the definitive edition, was done in a few takes, but the singer, Clare Torry, had very little direction from the band other than not to sing distinct words. Her own account was that she thought the band was disappointed, but it ended up on the album and has become one of the most iconic vocal instrumentals in rock music. I also LOVE that you chose the version from The Delicate Sound of Thunder! In addition, many people offer the wrong words for the woman's words spoken in the second half of the song, which aren't part of this live version. The words were said by Patricia Watts, wife of the band's road manager; answering the question, "are you afraid of dying," her answer was "I never said I was frightened of dying." Many, though, think they were something else. The actual words have much greater force than the misheard ones, partly because of their flat honesty.

Weird, but I only just discovered this masterpiece. I wasn't big on Pink Floyd, but knew most of the songs on their "DARKSIDE OF THE MOON ALBUM." I'm not saying I dislike Pink Floyd just was listening to other bands. Like Nazareth, Ozzy, Ted Nugent, Nazareth and Triumph were both my favorites, LoverBoy too!!😊 Thanks for the great music, and your fantastic amazing smiles ❤

"1994 Pulse' is the best version outside of the studio.

Hey Pàete, is this why I'm where I'm at in life? I didn't listen to Pink Floyd when they came out on the scene. Of course, I guess it's never too late to change things up right? Did the Darkside Of The Moon come out in the 70's? I had a couple of outside friends who bought the album and were super syked out over how different and amazing the cover was.
I only knew a couple of songs. Another Brick in the Wall, and Wish You Were Here. I believe that Cheap Trick, Foreigner, REO SpeedWagon, Billy Squire, Peter Frampton were also coming out on the airwaves pretty much at the same time. Anyhow, I was just kidding with you about my life being where it is, 😆, I'm turning 63 in a week. I've had a fantastic life, and still do. Have a good one friend 🫠

@@rhondamcbath6279 1973 is when dark side came out.
My point in my statement was that listening to music is so seminal in our existences.
Music elicits the full spectrum of our emotions as human beings.
I’ve never been to a councilor per se but I will tell you this, through my life , in times of sadness, in times of joy my councilors have been Zepplin, Pink Floyd and others.
Have you listened to the animals album by Pink Floyd?
If you get a chance pull up the lyrics to “ dogs, sheep and pigs” off of that album and tell me it’s not the current state of our country at this time. God bless!!!

There’s so many great songs and their album the wall is poignant to say the least. God bless.

Googled it.~Clare Torry a session singer who the studio forgot to ppay her £30 fee. It is rumourwd she sett>led for £4,000,000. After all the lyrics were her own.
Just listen to it on the LP.

The “great gig in the sky” is accepting the stages of your own death. In the context of the entire album, it makes more sense. But listen to this again. There are three stages to the wordless vocals. For me, it’s Anger, Fear, and then Acceptance.

Thanks Darrell for speaking up and semi explaining what this music piece was in reference to. I like the original version, but I'm completely floored because I couldn't fathom the concept of this musical arrangement. I wasn't big on Pink Floyd, or The Who, Molly Hatchet, actually there were many I wouldn't listen to, I just can't listen to heavy metal, hip-hop, rap, grunge..Smashing Pumpkins. Metallica, oh, I do like one song Nothing Else Matters. I was into AC/DC, Ozzy, Van Halen. John Cougar Mellencamp, CCR, Triumph, Boston, early Aerosmith. Don't get me wrong, I don't begrudge anyone else's personal tastes in music. Did you mention that their was something on utube about The Great Gig in the Sky? Again thanks for the insight 😊

You should have looked up the meaning of the song before reacting. It's about the different stages of death.
