Nice little introduction. I've been eyeing a new pair of jeans for winter buut...... I think I'll get the 32s. Respect to the 40 but I'm not that manly.
I respect Naked & Famous for being such a fun brand making creative jeans. Most of their jeans are 10-12 Oz which is fairly lightweight. Oh and don't thing heavyweight denim is going to save your bacon in a motorbike accident. Tarmac goes through 1cm of bone per meter. Motorcycle outfitters like Bering make special kevlar reinforced jeans for that purpose and they correspond to safety standards whatever part of the world you ride in.
Yes agreed. My friend wore REALLY thick denim and it completely shredded in a 30mph slide. It’s basically useless at anything faster than just putting around a city slowly. (Unless you’re lucky) I wore some very nice Kevlar jeans and even they had some signs of ripping through during a fairly minor slide. Still held up though much better than normal denim while being thinner and more comfortable than a super heavy pair.
I have a pair of 24 oz Ironheart. Definitely not for me. The day after I've been wearing them anything else feels like a t-shirt on my legs. It took me close to a year for them to actually break in. The crotch "cracked" frayed after about a year. They did shrink by half a size which they shouldn't have (made the waist be quite tight and very uncomfortable) but that might just be Ironheart specifically. Would not recommend for general public. Now 5 years in they do fit like a glove and feel like a substantial pair of jeans. But the break in process was so uncomfortable that I'd never get another pair above 15-16oz
@@nadekang8198 Honestly I do not remember, they are not 634XHS. I imagine rigid denim because they took a very long time to break in. I've only soaked them 2x the first year and after both times they still stood upright. They feel like a glove now, but I don't know if I would purchase 25 oz again.
@@misha9952 I guess you bought the rigid ones which I heard was painful to break in. The one-wash ones are a bit rigid when you got them, but after about 2 weeks of wearing they become very comfortable. I would go for IH 25oz if I can't get N&F 32oz or 40oz.

@@alanc6468 I have a 24oz belt that I made with two strips of 12oz veg tan. Took me a month or so to make it comfortable to wear, but now I have a hard time going back to thin belts.

I do have a couple of 21 oncers when I ride now and the are decent I think they’d protect me decently from road rash and they do good protecting my legs from engine heat .
Nick, come down to Texas. We will get you in some Wrangler jeans, a decent hat, and some cowboy boots. Seriously, in my Texas heat, those jeans would kill you. Also, how do you move in those? Chafing must be lots of fun too.
Reminds me a bit of ollac jeans,I’m going to find myself a pair of naked and famous, there’s a shop near me in shepherd bush called Stuart’s that stock em…..
I know it can probably never theoretically happen but it would be great if someone could come out with a jean that won't get crotch blowouts.I think I counted four pair in the background that were blown out or close to it.
The best way to avoid blowouts is to check the crotch area on a regular basis, and then wash and reinforce as necessary. I had a pair that was about to blowout so I put patches behind the weakened fabric and they ended up being fine, I would also recommend washing at least every six months because extra dirt in the fibers can weaken them and cause blowouts (with heavier denim blowouts are more likely to happen so I would recommend soaks or washes more frequently if you’re wearing anything above like 25-30 oz
IDK why but heavyweight denim just does something for me. I will only wear jeans 20oz and up. Wearing OldBlue Co 31-33oz today. 💪🏾😤I lowkey want those 40oz.
Hey Shakiem! I just got a pair of the Old Blue 31/33 9th wonder Cobalt jeans. How the hell did you soften them up? How did you button the fly? And how did you break them in? Any advice or help on this is appreciated!
@@jamesarens1846 Hey James! Definitely cold soak, or hot soak depending on how much shrink you need. But before that, I used a titanium pen and titanium pry bar to get the button holes a little more open and I soaked em with the buttons done up. You may have to go a couple days without undoing the buttons TBH. They’re super comfortable for me now.
This isn't to hate on N&F, I think they're great, but the 40oz jeans look like shit. They've blown passed the point of diminishing returns. Fabric needs to be able to fold and drape, hell that's where most of your patina and fades come from. The 40oz won't naturally be capable of that for probably over a year if not a lot longer, so you end up with awful looking fades and patina. The 32oz looked great!
@@Stridewise I get what they're saying, but I guess I still don't...see the point? They don't seem comfortable or fun to wear. It's a strange flex, that's all I'm sayin!
