I use my Autel Evo routinely for mapping my 220 acres, all without spending a penny on 3rd party apps or being 'policed' with a DJI. Fly a rectangular pattern about 150 ft above the area at 10mph with timed hi-res photos every 5 seconds. If the battery runs out before the mission it will return home so you can replace it and pick up where it left off. Once all of the photos have been captured then throw them into WebODM for your Orthomosaic, etc. If you just want to 'stitch' all of the photos together quickly (and check your capture set), then load them into Microsoft Image Composite Editor (free download) and away you go. The EVO II has even more capabilities out-of-the box, no extra 'planning' software needed. Take THAT DJI!
Man im so happy i ran accross your comment. I purchased my evo in 2020 and never never used it because i could only think of real estate when i purchased and actually never got into flying for hire. Today i am more than ever ready and was looking to get the Dji phantom 4 pro V2 but im glad to know that Autel is capable for remapping. I wanna get into construction
Yes!!!! Mapping software is now in Missions tab in the app and it is adjustable even planning from gps prior to flight. I think an updated cast is due for this. Thanks for everything videos are great keep up the good work.
Guys, first 25%+ is advertising , then some joking, then you get to the question, but divert to a story about missing earbud and go on to hidden advertising for your class. I think you said ‘long story short’ 3 times and then diverted from the question again. You guys know so much, but have a really hard time getting to the point and staying focused on delivering information. Oh towards the end we had one more ‘Long story short’ - and finally kind of gave us a ‘yes’ :-)
All I want is VR mode when flying my Evo using the iPhone Autel explorer app, that’s all I ask for. Could y’all do me a favor and go after Autel and persuade them to actually develop this mode on the iPhone app?
I did it manually with a Typhoon H, UAV Toolbox, and Maps made easy. (You can do small maps for free with Maps made easy). My video of that probably has the most views and comments (I have a very small channel with a lot of content, but a lot of sunrises on it). It's very, very easy for up to about 10 acres, but can get very painful for large areas. I would much rather use my Parrot Anafi, which Pix4D supports. I like to use the cheapest solution to reduce risk ($600 vs $1500). I rarely even fly my P4 PRo. I'm glad you brought up doing it manually and agree that everybody that tries mapping should at least, try it that way. Good job!
It’s funny how everyone races to get the info Drone U is giving us for FREE!! Just to complain and rush the hosts. It’s like a homeless person getting upset because your taking to long to give them money their begging for...smh

Now that the phantom 4 pro is being discontinued what is the go to drone for mapping and surveying?
So does the Evo have a linear rolling shutter? You don't really say. Thanks.
You mention an SOP from Bill English for calculating mapping overlap. Could you share that please? Or where to find it.
Mission planning now available on the Evo
This reminds me of the SNL skit, “The Delicious Dish”
That was my exact thought, and when I scrolled down and saw this.....
Sometimes the little things are the big things. You’re welcome my friend! Thanks again.

I want to know, if in mapping with EVO I, when the battery is running out, and I call the drone home, does it return to the mission where it left off?
The latest comments said yes
Like your stuff. Any episodes on FPV for Autel Evo ??
The microphone picks up eating sounds and is very distracting. Not good for podcasts, not good at all
Autel released a beta Mission Planner for the Evo. Looks promising.
Took a long time to get to the basic question - too much fluff
The flat bill hats make it hard to take yawl seriously.
Mission function on Evo great for type of mapping ??
Bad. Bad. Bad. Discussing their own problems. Very poor in explaining clearly.
Originaldobo is absolutely right.....
It's all advertisement and bullshit. Found my answer in the comments before they ever got to the point.

Way too much blowing you own horn so to speak and not enough about the subject. Too make a long story short as you said over and freaking over.
Guess Mission app in Autel took care of this, eh ?
This was like 3 minutes of information in a 15 minute video… 😕
yes i was also very disappointed in the layout of the video. not a lot of info and a lot of ads and anecdotal stories
When it takes you 14-18 minutes to answer the question, is too much waste of my time. You guys need to quit so much jesting....
6 minutes of infomercial and blather before they get to the topic ( waiting for the next sales pitch..) tuned out at 7 minutes..
Wish the video was cut short to just answering the question, 🙄
"Mission" for mapping
bad hat club
It would be a big waste of time watch the whole clip
yes i want my time back
Well, just a so called simple answer to a question turns into a bunch of worthless chatter.
100%, so much useless talk in the vid im upset i watched all 15 mins for 5 sentences of info
Tldr, no it doesn't
