Plants amazing vocals, always perfect for every song, these guys were such lovers of the Blues. This one I believe was true emotion from Plant, really missing his wife & kids. His wife suffering a fractured skull & his crushed leg. Robert in a wheelchair, not knowing if he’d walk again, plus other injuries to both of them. For some kind of tax issues, they had to record in the US, & he just wanted to be home.
This is considered to be a "sister song" to Since I've Been Loving You. I've told other people that, to me, the relationship between the two songs is SIBLY is a young man's heartbreak; he's got a lot of questions of how could this happen? Why me? He says he works hard, is trying to provide, but she had the nerve to tell him she didn't want him. There's more angst. In this, he's more mature - he knows heartache is part of life but by this point, there's more at stake and more to lose so the pain is deeper. I like how you describe his singing as sincere - that's a great description. He fully commits his voice to each song. But...THE GUITAR! O...M...G! Jimmy makes it talk, cry, plead, and argue as well as imbues it with a sort of weary resignation to its fate. It's this exquisite suffering which elevates this song to true art. This is my favorite blues song from them.
Yeah, they get you goin and pull the rug out from under you and send you into that deep blues groove. Haven't heard this in a minute and you're just reminded that absolutely no one does it better than these guys. Seems like every note hits the mark
A tension filled song with Robert concerned about the daily ongoing stresses and Jimmy as usual playing his subconscious. Beautiful layered guitars as Jimmy paints Robert’s anguish. The biggest band in the world at this time and still doing low key gems like this. No one did it better.

This song is woefully under appreciated. I’ve heard it called the sister of Since I’ve Been Loving You. Nothing compares to Led Zeppelin blues!

This is probably my favorite Zeppelin song. This whole album is under rated its just so awesome

This is one of those songs that when it ends, I have to put it right back to the beginning to do it over
