Awesome job!! I raised pigs off and on for 15 years, i had two sows farrow while they had escaped. Both those sows along with all there new piglets actually came back to the barn, i simply just shut the gate and like magic, back to business. From that day forward, my method of pig farming were exactly the way you folks are doing it. Back then, even successful pig farmers said i was crazy!! I'd never do it any differently than the way you folks are doing it!!!! Keep up the good work!!!!
That's a cool story. She went off, had those piggies and then brought them home. They know better than us how to have piglets. Appreciate the kind words and thanks for watching.
Thanks for standing your ground! Like I said I am using your model on my gilts we have a large fenced wooded area for them too. I am hoping to have my farrowing process be hands off when we get to that point. Someone replied to me abt saying she should go this guy said “why should she go” I reminded him of her birth AND her post birth behavior being totally inappropriate. I’m a new homesteader but veteran farmers/producers tell me often every animal must contribute to “make it make sense “ I adopted that mantra. PS. My 15 turkey chicks came yesterday 1 down already😷, but I’m encouraged. Thx for being real like I always say!
Another great clip chuck thank you, dont worry about the haters they will always hate regardless. Your clips are very educational and you explain things anybody can understand , keep up the great work mate
Hey guys don’t worry about negative people comments the both of you are doing a good job, wild pigs give birth by themselves all the time animals being doing just fine without our help, sometimes we’re the biggest problem,y’all keep up the good work.
Every rancher/farmer has to make their OWN decisions about what is best for their own environment and way of raising their animals. People who are not actively involved in YOUR own ranch shouldnt be trying to make decisions for you. We get comments from people that know nothing at all about raising livestock in 9 full months of deep snow and winter conditions. It truly blows my mind. You are both caring for your animals and trying to work the genetics into your herd for what YOU are raising and for your environment. I am 100% behind you!!!
I can never get enough of watching piglets tussle and play. I love it when The Mamas play auntie helping each other out. I hate seeing pigs in confinement, natural out in pasture makes for happy healthy pigs.
Look at all those piggies. Mom's are doing a great job. Many people who don't understand nature's process can be negative. Let it go brother, keep up the good work.
I’m so glad you addressed the negative comments. I often wonder why in the world someone would be so snotty or even take the time to click the thumbs down. Just turn it off! And y’all aren’t the only ones that run to the sound of squealing piglets. I’ve almost broke my fooled neck running to see what’s happening!! If I got all that stuff on video I might get some subscribers!🤣
Sorry you got trolled brother. Still trying to get my gf on board with pasture pigs on our 4900 sq meter Mindanao farm. I want to split the place into one pig shed, attached to six paddocks via hot fence, I wish to rotate the pigs once per week on pasture among the fruit trees and coconuts. I keep telling her that I believe there will be more value in a red meat juicy pig than a pink meat stall raised pig. We have the land. We have the structure to keep off the rain. We will buy the native pig as it is hearty in the Philippines. Also, running the pigs in between the orchards fertilizes our trees. Good luck on your piglets. Thanks.
New subscriber. Just started with pasture pigs and find your videos are very helpful. Thank you. Just had two mommas farrow. 15 babies total. Looking forward to more videos, you do a great job.
Don’t give negative comments a second look and don’t even give them the satisfaction of mentioning them in a video. just block him!! you are doing a great job!!! that’s exactly the way God intended it to happen the animals by instant can all take care of themselves. exactly how I raise my chickens I don’t have an incubator I don’t have a brooder. Mamma does it
Glad things are smoothing out. I know about listening for the squeals. I am listening for chicks peeps. I am raising 2 batches of 60 meat birds spaced three weeks apart. I am checking and watering and feeding. But I do enjoy them too, they are amazing. When you care, you spend a lot of time with your animals.
Bahahahahha "7 & 11 is not 16". Ahhhhhh poor Sandra & math 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I'm very happy that y'all are going a more natutal route. That's the way it should be. & sometimes nature isn't nice, but it's the way life is supposed to be. Keep it up!!
I can't handle the squeals eaither. I am so happy for you all!! You are doing it the way they are created. Our Berkshires still has all 11 and i have so many people that said I could not keep them all 2 weeks later. Good sows can do it just fine.
We have had similar results but remember the strong survive and you build upon those not the one's you lost. I have lost more piglets than I have brought to the table, its just the way it is. You battle genetics, weather, gnashing of teeth and satan. So every victory is cherished. Cherish the victories and learn from the challenges.
Ok first if all who could ever get tired of watching baby piglets? 😁❤🐖 and second building all kinda stuff for those mama's where you live is not necessary. Tes when it rains it's not great. But I've seen where people build all kinda housing/ birthing hunts and the mama's won't stay in them a lot of the time. Yall are doing a great job!
Hey. Clip idea, maybe showing how much to put in a bottle and how often they need to drink. Great job on giving them space to be animals and follow their instincts. Cheers
That's a lot of piglets! Congratulations Sir! Mama Pig and the litter should have a hut for protection against the rain. Oh maybe there is, I just didn't see on the video.
The good ones show them selves to be ahead of the poor if people would only let them! Reproductive ability should be number one on the traits that you determine who stays and who goes. No matter how good you think they are if they can’t reproduce at your farm under your management what good are they?
What’s your total piglets live on the ground now ? I laughed when you corrected your better half on counting lol. Too funny. Give poor midwife Sandra a break , making her stay up in the middle of the night probably raining on her . 🤪😝 did shadow the sheep 🐑 hang out with her also ? Well good job u 2 and don’t worry what people say they don’t know. Todd
Congrats on the new additions ! Love the videos and what your trying to accomplish . Sure wish piglets could be shipped like chicks ( haha) - It's been very challenging to find any piglets here in Rochester NY this year to say the least. Haven't had any luck so far.
Don’t worry about the ugly comments. I agree that this is the natural way. I live in SE Oklahoma and we have been over ran with wild hoggs. If this way that you are doing this is not a healthy way of doing it than our wild hogs would not thrive
Thank you so much for sharing the UPS and Downs I have a quick question how do you keep track of the sounds and which babies are which for selling purposes or do you only a item with one bore it's 1 bore so it doesn't really matter
You guys are doing a great job! I am curious if the sow's spontaneous nursing activity will change your processing decision on the sow whose piglets did not survive?
Interesting you should ask. We are having second thoughts about giving her another try. She seems to do really well with the piglets so she may be fine next time around.
This takes me back. We didn't have as many sows as you do, but we successfully raised pigs on pasture. Just curious, what is the primary breed of your sows?
I bet the people leaving nasty comments don’t even own livestock and don’t know anything about it other than what they see on UA-cam. Everyone has their own way of doing things and what works for 1 may not work for another, so people need to remember if you have nothing nice to say don’t say anything at all. It’s so neat how pigs will nurse piglets that aren’t theirs, wish goats were like that because my goats will head but babies that aren’t theirs and it’s so hard to see that. I was thinking and could be totally wrong but the 1 that lost a bunch I’m wondering if her labor stalled or a baby was stuck so she got up and was walking around to help the process? Just a thought on it.
Yes. That happens occasionally. In an open setting its difficult. We Have some farrowing huts that have a short section in the back the piglets can get up under to stay away from mom.
We had a gilt lose her piglets. She is letting other piglets nurse on her. Also, have non pregnant gilts looking like they are going into heat. I wish they were on pasture. They are in a pen with a very good natured boar. We have American Guinea Hogs.
I dont know why some people have to be nasty. I say it's your farm your livestock do it your way. It's one of the most natural things is to let animals do there own thing having their babs Its nature way they've done it longer then humans
Are you not worried about who's piglets are with who and which ones got inseminated with which sperm because they are feeders and not being keep for breeders
Ignore the ugly comments. Y'all are doing a great job 👏
Thank you. Appreciate y’all watching

Don't worry about negative comments. Those sows are doing it the way nature intended ! Good luck to you, keep it going!!
Thanks 👍
Those are happy healthy sows and piglets. Livestock are so much healthier when they live outside. Well done
Agree. Thanks
Thanks for standing your ground! Like I said I am using your model on my gilts we have a large fenced wooded area for them too. They're co-parenting! They seem as excited to have the piglets as ya'll are.
Yep! Glad to see it going on.
Man I love the red pigs never tired of the pig videos
Thanks. Us too!
Another great clip chuck thank you,

Absolutely not tired of farrowing videos.

I think you are doing an excellent job congratulations on all the baby piglets
Thanks

Do not intervene! They got it!

We have Kune Kune’s they graze, and pretty much farrow on their own- it’s a happy day to see the new piglets!
Lovely pigs

I appreciate what you do and really enjoy your videos.
We hope to get feeder pigs soon, and are not planning to breed pigs, but we love watching your videos.
Y’all are doing a great job & I have learned a lot...gonna come visit someday 😁
Come on! Thanks for watching
“We’re gonna let a boar have an opportunity with her.” Not gonna lie. That made me chuckle a bit. 😆
😂. Yep. Let nature take its course.
Nature’s way, all the way, need to be encouraging natural husbandry to maintain good genetic stock in all domesticated farm animals.
Agree. Sometimes things done work out the way we want but the way nature wants.
Ok first if all who could ever get tired of watching baby piglets? 😁❤🐖 and second building all kinda stuff for those mama's where you live is not necessary. Tes when it rains it's not great. Yeah. We’ve had farrowing huts out for them and they choose to give birth in the hay. They know what they need. Thanks for watching
Great content, stick with your project 'outdoor farrowing' it's the natural way. Reminds me of here in Fermanagh, Ireland with all that rain.
Thanks, will do! We've had a ton of rain here this winter and early spring. Been crazy.
natures way:)
Exactly

He's tight for money
Pigs need sheds

Y'all take a break,. Both of you look worn out. Ignore the haters. Learn and go on.
Thanks. Appreciate y’all watching and the kind words.
Awesome 👍👍👍Thanks for sharing. How many squealers 🤣 so far?
I think we are at 36. It’s really kinda tough to keep up with. I need a good accountant. 🤓

I think it’s 36 total. My accountant is suspect around here. 🤓🤓🤓. Thanks for watching!
@@SheratonParkFarms how many do u need each year to sell ? Basically what’s the number u are shooting for?
I think you're doing a wonderful job God put them in nature nature swear they need to be it takes care of itself enough said
Congrats on the new additions ! Love the videos and what your trying to accomplish . Sure wish piglets could be shipped like chicks ( haha) - It's been very challenging to find any piglets here in Rochester NY this year to say the least. Haven't had any luck so far.
Yeah. Piglets are hard to find. Good quality ones anyway. Thanks for watching

wow looking great.... btw, how many are still about to farrow??
Have 3 to go. Thanks for watching
Hope says she wants some of the black and white ones
They are super cute!
This takes me back. We didn't have as many sows as you do, but we successfully raised pigs on pasture. Just curious, what is the primary breed of your sows?
Berkshire/Duroc mostly.

"Seven and eleven is not sixteen" 🤣🤣🤣
Great video keep up the hard work, don’t pay any mind to the keyboard warriors...
The one that had the bad farrowing experience has redeeming properties nursing piglets not her own
We are planning to raise pigs in a tropical environment. And moving them often. Any advice.
Are you having to remove the piglets when you put the boar in the pen with the sows?
❤
I had asked before maybe missed the answer but wandering the age of your gilts when first bred
Around 7 months. Appreciate y’all watching
Looks like a community teat program going there, better for all of them.
🤣🤣. The milk bar
Being out in pasture do you run into predator problems?
I have a question, do you find piglets dead because they got rolled on? My sow has killed two this last litter. How do I prevent this?
Yes. That happens occasionally. In an open setting its difficult. We Have some farrowing huts that have a short section in the back the piglets can get up under to stay away from mom.
This is the way it should be done! This is farming! It pains me to think about pigs that live on cement floors and caged so they can't move.
We had a gilt lose her piglets. She is letting other piglets nurse on her. Also, have non pregnant gilts looking like they are going into heat. I wish they were on pasture. They are in a pen with a very good natured boar. We have American Guinea Hogs.
😎👍
Thanks
🐷👍🐖👍🐽👍🐗👍
Thanks
How do the piglets and the mamas know who belongs to whom?
I think it is by smell. But they all share piglets at feeding time. No one seems to mind if they have someone else's piglet nursing on them.
I dont know why some people have to be nasty. I say it's your farm your livestock do it your way. It's one of the most natural things is to let animals do there own thing having their babs Its nature way they've done it longer then humans
Couldn't agree more. Thanks!
What is Ruby's sister's name? The other Red mama.
We haven't named her. She is doing a good job.
🐊🇺🇸🦅👍❤
Thanks
Could of something spooked the one that lost most of her piglets? I didn't know that momma pigs let others babies nurse.
Certainly could have. Yes. Seems to be pretty common.
🥰😍😘
Tis a little damp?!!
Are you not worried about who's piglets are with who and which ones got inseminated with which sperm because they are feeders and not being keep for breeders
