Those bodies look like they are cast aluminum. Although this video doesn't actually state that they sure look like it to me. So now I am off to my Search Engine to find out. Nice video and I had no idea anyone was doing this and have never heard of Kirkham.
Yup. The sheet aluminum is formed over a wooden “buck” tricky but that’s how they made MIGs back in the day. They are the best at this. Look at our show on the Petersen auto museum in LA. They made a Bugatti body with design students from Art Center. Beautiful
Just to clarify, you referred to the 427 S/C as a super coupe, but that is incorrect. The S/C stands for Semi-Competition because they were race versions made street legal. And not all of the 427 S/Cs has a 427; some actually had a 428ci and still referred to as a 427 S/C with the 427 badging. This was mainly due to the limited availability of the side-oiled 427ci FE. They made 2 copper cars, a 32 ford and a 427 Cobra, and almost killed the workers building them. It seems the copper dust was toxic!! So they only offer aluminum now. Depends on if you want to do some of the building yourself, or whatever, but a finished car is between 100,000 and 250,000 for a Daytona. But if you put in your own engine and so on, less.

I've owned Jaguar, MG, Triumph, and Lotus and I can say that the Brits have a great eye when it comes to coach design. Unfortunately that expertise does not carry over when it comes to engineering. You would think an island nation would know how to design an electrical system that resists wet weather. Mechanically they all had quirks that had to be gotten used to. Still, I loved my little cars when I was a young man. But back then I had the time to work on them.
I’ve seen that done, one of the Bugatti‘s in the Mullin collection has a hand built body made by students at the art center which they also designed and then constructed on their own wooden buck.
The best version of the Iconic Cobra ever. Hands down . I would order one if l had the $$$$ & also if he gave me permission 2 put in my own engine . A small big block Windsor 441 cu in. With Hammerhead Performance Heads & Ingelese Injection
@William Smith Not sure what a 501 is .. bbf. 2 heavy . Or if it's a stroked LS. Over square . More stroke than bore . OK 4 all out efforts. But 2 much rod piston angle on the bores. A 441 cu inch is 4.125 bore × 4.125 stroke. U get the best of both worlds. 4.125 bore is also safe .
I can truthfully say very rarely, and not ever a conversation. with the folllowing exception. At fist til age 24 I did, at that time had 2 friends involved in bad traffic accidents it was found a major issue in both were drivers distracted.
Most people do talk while driving with no problems. We have never had any problem shooting the intros. We do stick to side streets anymore mostly because it’s easier and we get better sound.
Henry Straley There are those who cannot walk and chew gum at the same time! Glad you can recognize your own limitations.. but don’t assume that everyone else has those limitations as well. Whatever you do.. Don’t ever drive children to soccer practice! It’s a technical job, not designed for everybody!
@@karynfelix-the-Cat No, when I drove the kids to whereever, I just told them keep it down, distract me and we all may get hurt. They listened and behaved. To try and justify distracted drive is insane.

I think they get them from Kirkham. Shelby does. As far as I know they are the only manufacturer of aluminum bodies. It’s a trick to do and the polish plant is the best.
I had a Cobra in the nineties ,meet a guy at the Guildford cruise in the uk ,he had built a Kirkham Cobra, it was hard to tell the different between the two, he told me he was off to the U.S.A to work for them, do not if he went, But his car was good
COOL!! you had one.. In a week and a half we are looking at what was a few years ago, the best collection of Fords and Cobras in the world. Bar none. Way better than the Shelby Museum!!! Stay tuned...
Harder than it sounds. BUt the newer shows are much louder. Requires compression. UA-cam sets a level, and unless you compress toe audio it's very soft. Learning curve.
It was difficult but I was able to hold up my head with a pole stuck in my nose. Did you lower the music? It sounds better now. Absoluttely gorgeous cars.
Bill Beverly It's a 67 gt 390 that was "shelbyized" in 1970 and then raced. it's mostly correct Shelby, but the hood is made from a Torino hood and the front is like a Elinor. 65 Shelby suspension. Cool, but I'm doing some restoration work right now. Major rust in the rear quarters.
fanghicheck keeps going up. Geeezze. When I made the video the “kit” (car with no engine) was about 80k. Finished car about 110k. When the Daytona came out it was 250 k. Not sure what price of a “standard” 427 is today but I’d guess 160-200?? Don’t know.
Kit? How do you figure? Even Shelby has to comply with laws about manufacturing automobiles. Pretty much requiring but everybody acquire their own engine, but that doesn’t mean that there isn’t a way to buy one of these completely put together. It just means someone other than Kirkham has to put the engine in it and then send it back to Kirkham. I would hardly call that a kit.
I remember hearing about the Cobras being reproduced in of all the places Poland a long time ago..I was like whaaaaaa? then to come to find out they were the highest quality Cobra available..It was a good day 👍 personally I think Shelby is doing a money grab..fiberglass ? really ? I'd rather have a Kirkham..
Or get a Kirkham that’s been rebadged is a Shelby. You pay a lot more but in the end you’ll get to sell it for a lot more if that’s what you’re into. But I find it a crack up that you can buy a Kirkham that’s been blessed by Shelby and they call it a Shelby
@@ToyManTelevision Personally the badgeing doesn't mean much..look at the durango and 2.2 charger..they do cost more than what the normal vehicles cost..but they are very well kept and there is a lot of go fast parts in them..but the prices don't reflect the collectiblity of a "Shelby"..like I said and you pointed out..Shelby is just a money grab now..lot better car reproducers/producers out there and Kirkham is at the top..pretty soon when originals are priced so high they will be tucked away forever its the reproductions that will be what matters and I would rather have a Superformance GT40 MKII out of the whole buch any ways 😁

And the 427 was a Ford design - with the body built to Ford specs by AC, a complete redesign. Ciao, L (FoMoCo Engineering)
502 club in Louisville KY make the cobra by hand with wood jigs and aluminum bodys
@William Smith
Not sure what a 501 is .. bbf.
No mention of price. Silly to be afraid of mentioning it. It doesn't have to scare people away. You just have to know how to say it.
Cool video! Had no idea cobras are made in Poland
Yup! In a MIG factory! Turnabout is great!!
Dale, just found this video (I realize its been it has be out for a while). My kinda video. You know I love cars. Have you got a sunburn lately? Hi to Karyn.
Hi! Shot that in about the 14th century as I recall. Shot it for “road trip” which we were trying to get on cable. Never happened so I lifted 2 sections for toy man after starting that. Later I broke road trip into 4 shows and put that up with other footage as “fast Friday’s”.

Thanks!!!!!
@@ToyManTelevision I just picked up a Cobra kit,
Good to see pride in the USA!
Love it.
Great cars!!!
Great vid my dream car
No kidding. Wanna get back. They are in a new place.
I will have one in black, w silver stripes. I want 800hp, 6 speed. It must have a nasty cam too.
I want the Daytona. Really love to see them do a super coup with an aluminum 427.
I want all of the above... But check book indicates = Never mind
before polishing there are lots of very visible scratches....i wonder how much aluminum is removed to make it mirror finish
Excellent 👍🏻😎👍🏻
Need to get out to the new factory.
I'm pretty sure ERA offers aluminum bodies. And I have been told a guy in Torrance CA makes aluminum bodies for cobras and Corvette's .
I think they get them from Kirkham. Shelby does. As far as I know they are the only manufacturer of aluminum bodies. It’s a trick to do and the polish plant is the best.
A friend of mine says the guy in Torrance makes them himself. that's why he also has vette bodies in aluminum. But I don't know where ERA get's them .
As far as I remember, this Polish company has in hand the original molds of the cobra.
Not in the 60s. Made in England. Unless something I don’t know. Which is lots!!!
So what is the current price take give or take?
So what does fiberglass body weigh and what does aluminum body weigh?
Not sure. I have seen a single guy pick up an entire aluminum body and walk with it. But mostly the aluminum is what the original has
Who can I contact to get me a shelby cobra very interested in the process of the car thank you
Look up the Shelby club on line and Facebook. Also Facebook group Show Me Your mustang
i'll take mine in raw aluminum...just skip the paint...
99% do!!!
Would it not oxidize like a fuel tank on a diesel truck? Or do They seal it somehow with a clear coat?
Ever think about putting more audio so we can hear what you are saying?????
Harder than it sounds. BUt the newer shows are much louder. Requires compression. UA-cam sets a level, and unless you compress toe audio it's very soft. Learning curve.
I tried to watch the great information in this video but I had to blow my brains out because the music made me want to die.
How were you able to type with yur brains all blowed out? Sorry you didn't like it.
It was difficult but I was able to hold up my head with a pole stuck in my nose. Did you lower the music? It sounds better now. Absoluttely gorgeous cars.
well don't worry nobody miss's you Lol
Wish you would drop the background noise!
New shows sound way better. That one is about 5 years old.
I thought you were landing a small airplane and the runway just kept going ... until that truck passed you
We were landing a small airplane.... oops. That’s a different video. But well.. we did.
like the strips
Not sure how they do that. Looks cool.
Love the old Cobras. They look like they just seen a rat. :o
Like Rat Fink?
@@ToyManTelevision lol kinda I meant the headlight grill combo on those. Like a basking shark ...get in my belly!
What kind of car are you driving? Is it a Shelby Mustang? 65 or 66?
Bill Beverly It's a 67 gt 390 that was "shelbyized" in 1970 and then raced. it's mostly correct Shelby, but the hood is made from a Torino hood and the front is like a Elinor. 65 Shelby suspension. Cool, but I'm doing some restoration work right now. Major rust in the rear quarters.
It's a 67
Super
How much?
When we made this about 100,000. But I’m sure more now.
Gorgious
and the price is $$$$$ ?
fanghicheck keeps going up. Geeezze. When I made the video the “kit” (car with no engine) was about 80k. Finished car about 110k. When the Daytona came out it was 250 k. Not sure what price of a “standard” 427 is today but I’d guess 160-200?? Don’t know.
I wonder if an FFR chassis and a Kirkham alum body could get married?
Hum.... could be. Or get Kirkham to build the FFR. They do stuff like that. But it’s doable
I wouldn't mind having to drive a Daytona Coupe
If only I had 250,000
Cool video! What are you driving ? Is it a 64/66 cuda?
Looks like a FB mustang, check the overhead console
Skeezix your probably right!
No matter how you spin it, still a kit car and some states accepted as replica.
Quality does not mean in a kit car world
@@ToyManTelevision even you buy this to someone else, still put together and a kit.
@@ferrelx Yep if you’re just looking for something drivable. I mean really really drivable and you want the best possible cobra reproduction this is the one. Then you can buy some Shelby badges off the Internet for two dollars and stick them on it if you want
@@ToyManTelevision "WHAT BATCHES WE DONE NEE NO STINKIN BATCHES" 👍
First time I see a decapitating racing harness setup.
It’s not as bad as you think it is. Or was. We changed it a long time ago. Because yes, dangerous.
Can everyone please tell me about the other automobile the “Cheetah” that was made.
Don’t know that one...
The 289 cobra would be me.
For me the Daytona. But the 250k price is a bit steep.
NO NEED for a 427 in such a light weight vehicle.
You forgot to give us some prices
Not sure where they are now. 100 to 250 k when we shot this about 7 years ago. Betting 50% more now? Most were about 120.
How much? And don't tell me if I have to ask I can't afford it.
When I made this they were stupid expensive. The good new is now they are SOOOO expensive it makes you laugh! They were 70K and up. Now more like 110K to 250K. Thing is I could afford it!! (as long as I died within a few days).
LOL Thanks for the info. Great channel BTW. @@ToyManTelevision
mean machine
Indeed!!!!
How do you fix that body when some dufus dings ya?
Same way it's built
I guess?..I have kirkham hot wheel Daytona..??!! Bcuss it's polished..waaaa !!
I still like a regular guardsman blue with Wimbledon white stripes.
My Cobra is a 428 30 over from Ford has Factory Pistons Factory cam Factory crank Factory everything I like it stock I wouldn't change it for nothing very fast engine
Wow!!!!! 🤩
I try to watch, but why you put that unnecessary beat to the background?
They need a grill to protect the radiator
Works fine. Never had a problem that I’m aware of. The original racing ones had a screen. Basic metal screen because you know, junk on the track at 120......
You haven't seen ours!!
Drooling killed my phone.
