Winter Heart
As far as the eye could see
Winter's breath had overtaken
The waters of the deep marshes,
Stilled the song of the green wood
Like the mother soothing the child.
Sleep, sleep, sweet vibrant life,
I blanket thee with white breath.
The cocoon of a still slumberland,
Where the wind dreams of its wings
And sun waits behind the frost trees
With crowns of gold rays, cold rays.
Come winter heart, crystal-eyed,
Harbinger of sleep, seed of dreams.
Come turn me to quicksilver
Be still, be still, white breath.
