  • Just got Lucy working yesterday after years of sitting in a rural Texas garage. Still ponder how old "lubrication oil" turns to a rock solid brown varnish coating and old white grease turns to a "concrete like glue" in the gears / internal mech shafts. After 8 years of playing tunes and never being lubricated, the mech finally gummed up and the rubber motor coupler sheered in half while playing a record. That's how I found her, sitting in a garage with a 45 still clamped in play mode. Like the Tin Man.
I have yet to do a "complete internal" degreasing / relubricating of the clutch. However, everything is oiled / working except the transfer arm still is slow every once in a while.
It has the wrong amp installed but it actually sounds great. A TSA10 Amp is factory but instead I found a SHP1 Amp which is a higher wattage made for a newer Seeburg SPS2 Juke. Everything looks ok and it has some new capacitors however it has 2 original big blue paper capacitors mounted on top by the transformers that are "on my list". Only pressing amp issue is when it is first turned on it makes a noise even with the volume turned down.
Now time for the fun part of restoration. Making Lucy look good.

Our family saw it, it was in the center of the Sportsman's Cafe in northern Minnesota when we ate there for lunch during our vacation to Canada. It was a great one in which they had a list of songs on it just like ordering it on from a department store Christmas catalog. It was fun.

I have the USC2, or "Firestar", which is the same machine but with orange panels. It had been sitting up for over twenty years and also has everything gummed up. I also need to do some repair to the exposed particle board on the sides and back. It was stored in a damp concrete garage and started to bubble up a little. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

It is looking to see if another selection has been made. When it checks out all the possible selections it quits.

Victory Glass has those panels. They are on the internet. Not sure on this one, but the model I have has an inner plastic panel that is white on the inside and has graphics on the outside. There is also graphics printed on the inside of the glass panel.

I have the same machine but I'm missing that purple plastic light color diffuser is that simply a piece of plastic or is there more to it than that? I just have a partially expossed light tube..let me know what your plastic is attached to if you will

It is just what you think it is - purple plastic - not exactly sure how it attaches up under there but it isn't easy to get to. You can replace yours with clear plastic. To add awesome color you can get colored plastic called theater gel sheets.
