I should clarify a couple of things I maybe didn't explain properly: 1. The numbers shown are averages for the first intake. They are usually lower in later years but the distribution doesn't change, i.e. the ranking stays the same at the high end. The lower end will come down to chance from intake to intake, there aren't many countries that produce great players every single year. 2. Filtering the map/tables on potential is filtering the players, not the average for the country. So if you set it to 150, you're only seeing data for players of 150+ potential, not the countries that produced 150+ potential on average. It's cool to see something I made in a video, I wasn't expecting my own prayer 😄
I suppose it makes sense that your youth intake would get lower slightly year on year as your shiny new facilities become a little less shiny! Obviously as a player you'd want to stay on top of that but yeah... 😃
The disrespect on Croaita in FM is legit crazy I mean 2 semifinals in a row and only 0.3 Wonderkids, less than Thailand, Mozambique, Bulgaria and Tanzania 😭😭😭
@@zudas5778 sigh. do you really think the zealand youtube channel is the place to talk about balkan politics? or just admit that croatia, whatever you think about them, are quite a good team

Ranking them is difficult - all these countries produced good players on some of my tests and scouting there will probably get you a good player at some point in a longer save. But they seem to be doing it a lot less consistently than some other countries. It also depends where your team is. If you're outside the top 5 leagues a 130 or 140 PA player might be amazing for you, and Croatia produces plenty of those.
it would always mathematically work out for england to produce the most high potential players. its just down to the number of teams england have in the game, due to all the lower leagues having youth intakes it increases the probability of one of those players being good. plus its the rating of players produced in that country not english players and england generally have one of the more diverse youth intakes so will have wonderkids who are from a bunch of other countries like central/eastern Europe, thats why france and spain do so well aswell, france produce allot of great central african talent, spain produce allot of great south american talent.
Amazing work here! So if I care most about 1) the largest number of quality regens and 2) quick game processing speed, it looks like Database Setup 3 (1 playable league, top players added) gives you the most bang for your buck, as it has significantly shorter processing time than more playable leagues or all players added but about the same number of 150+ and 180+ regens. Might tick a few more boxes in the advanced db setup to get that number closer to 150k, but very glad to know you don't need to load a whole bunch of playable leagues and really slow your game down to make sure you get good regens!

Glad South Africa popped up here. They are an amazing country in my saves where you are in that "team trying to be able to make UCL knockout proper" phase, especially when you are in a nation with a little less global pulling power for elite wonderkids. Every year I just send most of my scouts there to check out all the regens.

At this point it's kind of a meme that with every iteration of FM, SI (an English company) adds something new to push England's performance in the game over their real performance. Yes, the nation that has only once been in the top3 of the FIFA World Cup (on home soil with extremely fishy officiating) has the best youth intake. Suuuuuure.
That's a really cool tool, great job from everyone involved. To dive a little bit deeper into that subject, from the perspective of someone who has been testing and playing around with this for years, youth ratings are a bit misleading. Or at least the way we, as the FM community, interpreted it throughout the years is misleading (and the way SI sold "dynamic" youth ratings as a big deal played into that). Every season, when the game does the youth intakes, it runs an algorithm to generate the newgens. This doesn't seem to be done separately by country; it seems to be done at a global level. First thing this algorithm needs to do is figure out how many players need to appear in each country. That is because the game wants to maintain the number of players everywhere similar to how it was in the beginning of the save. So if you had 10k players in England and 2 in Bhutan, it will try to keep it around 10k in England and 2 in Bhutan forever (give or take a couple). Because of that, countries that get more players always have a better shot at drawing better players, just from sheer quantity. This is why England is number 1 in that list, and Scotland is so high. Also notice that the game will attempt to keep the average and distribution of potential abilities in the world similar to the beginning of the save. If we have 30 players with PA 180+ in the first season, the game will try to stay around that quantity forever. If we play with global youth ratings in the editor (set all countries to 1 or to 200), we can see that it is possible to statistically change the level of football in the world, but not by a massive degree. This means that every season FM will look at the players who retired and have an idea of how many players at each PA range it needs to create to keep the average balanced. So instead of randomizing a PA based on the country's youth rating for each newgen, what the game seems to do is generate some sort of list of PAs that need to be created, and then distribute them to the countries through some sort of draw, which takes into account youth ratings. All of that gets us to the following question: if you have a country with 200 youth rating that gets 1 newgen every year; and a country with 1 youth rating that gets 200 newgens every year; which one has the most chances of drawing the newgen with 185 PA that the game must create? We don't know the exact math for that, but since youth ratings tend to be quite close between most countries, those with higher player counts tend to have a huge advantage. This also explains why playable leagues generate better players much more often - due to sheer quantity (although there is one more factor on that, which relates to how different the youth intake algorithm is for playable and non-playable leagues, but this comment is already unbelievably huge, so I won't get into details - I did comment about it in Tom FM's "I gave EVERY country in FM23 the MAXIMUM Youth Rating" video, though, in case anyone is interested :) ). One more thing to take into account is that there are other factors affecting this distribution of newgens, which might impact it even more than youth ratings. Youth facilities is one of them. When FM distributes players, it also needs to take into account how many players each team in the world is going to get, and how good they are supposed to be. That makes matters even more confusing, because the teams with better facilities are supposed to generate the best players, but there are some limitations to which countries they can come from. Teams in England might get newgens from pretty much everywhere, but that is rare. Most of them are still English, and then from the rest of UK and Ireland. Since the game is forced to generate a lot of English newgens, and is forced to generate a lot of strong newgens in England, it ends up generating a lot of strong English players, as a consequence of both. In the opposite way, if you go and make a country like Bhutan, which has no connections with any large footballing nation in the FM database, a 200 youth rating, the game won't easily be able to make these players appear in England, France, Germany or Spain, where the best youth facilities tend to be. So it makes it even harder for Bhutan to get the great players it was supposed to, at least according to our interpretation of youth ratings. Finally, there are some indications/suggestions that Nation Importance and even sheer Reputation are other attributes that might be part of this algorithm, and maybe even have a stronger impact than youth ratings, but I haven't seen or done any strong tests on these.
Interestingly, and I just had a play with this, England might produce the most over 150, but not 160. They are immediately passed by Spain. Who lead the way until 180. When England and Argentina top the list with 1.3 and Spain are on 1.2. I guess England has a huge number of pro footballers compared to pretty much any nation. We've got a professional team for every 500,000 people, whereas Germany has one pro team for every 1.5m people. I *think* Italy now has loads of pro teams, but I am not quite what Serie C looks like.
In FM22 I found Serbia to be a real hot bed for wonderkids. In my current save on FM23, I have noticed that Mexico are producing an abundance of talented youngsters.
I personally think Brazil should definitely be top by a long shot. They're always producing so many great wonder kids in real life. Endrick, Roque, Washington, Vinicius, Tobias etc. Germany, Nigeria, Croatia and Morocco should also be much higher but I'm Moroccan so I might have a slight bias.
I'm playing in South Korea at the moment. I can only assume it is some kind of bug (on SI's side) that they are ranked so low. Lebanon and Syria are ranked around the same level. This is a nation that has hosted a world cup and made the round of 16 in the last one!
Full database with all playable leagues would show the real intake numbers as stated by the creator of the tool that playable leagues produce a lot more.
as a moroccan I love the fact that my country made the list! (25% of every wonderkid from belgium, netherlands, spain and france is probably a moroccan)
Video idea 💡 Would love to see a comparison between manual scouting and having the best possible chief of scout doing it. Curious if doing it manually actually pays off 🤨
In my save the greatest wonderkid I found was a Turkish cm and I got in on a free. My greatest wonderkid from my academy is from guine Bissau but now got the Portuguese nationality and the greatest wonderkid I found from a different nation is a Faroese cm
Current save is still from FM20, but my "best" player ("best" been subjective always) is a Turkish SC who chose Turkey despite been a German. My first 5* SC after ~20 seasons in fact (my last game was FM06, so I was re-learning the game. Refusing to pay over the odds like a certain Arsene Wenger, ha), and it was only with him that I truly started to dominate without having to tinker with tactics (I change from Attacking to Cautious only in the later stages of the Champions League, and only if it is needed) ... He is the Complete Forward which finally made my 4-4-1-1 work better. Ballon D'lor nominee every season, won it a few times of course (and that is because I practise very heavy rotation. Even if I won an Italian treble, this SC would still only have played at most 40+ matches out of 30 goals a season.) A 4.5* Russian SC had to be contented been his backup, and this Russian SC ended up winning the Ballon D'lor himself when the Turkish guy was out for half a season due to injuries, ha~! Now 34, he is finally less potent at 3* (and physically less dominating) and the Russian guy is finally ahead of him at 29yo, but is still my captain. What a player. 👍
I did something more basic in a spreadsheet using the club facilities to rate how likely wonderkids were to come through per nation, which is slightly different to per nationality. My top 30 included Norway, Sweden, Turkey and the US. My own findings were that Ghana and Bolivia were the best places to find wonderkids based on price. For example I doubt Iranian clubs are actually producing wonderkids to justify a spot here, none of the Iranian clubs have facilities better than Good, so they're probably coming through as multi-nationals via countries like Germany.
This is based on where players appeared in game, not nationality. I went for this approach because the data didn't always seem to match what "should" happen going by nation attributes. There's other factors involved such as what players are in the database to start with. Unpicking how much weight is given to things like youth rating and game importance is beyond my skills but for example the USA very rarely produced top players across the 100 or so intakes I simulated in total despite having good YR and some good club facilities.
@@user-ly1ph6gd5m Cool, I only used facilities and country youth ratings to rank countries, I didn't look at any actual PA values and didn't consider database size. My overall list is quite similar to yours, and my pricing index is based on much less data than yours. So don't take my comments as criticism of your tool. I have France as #1 but at a huge margin over England at #2. I've got Norway at #10. My method is probably more what you'd expect wonderkids to come from based on what we're told how facilities and youth ratings worked, but without know exactly how impactful those things are.
@@Zeerse_Chef I think England ends up at the top just from the size of the database. It's got the most divisions in the game, probably more free agents too. This part isn't something I can test but my best theory is the game replaces numbers of players who came from a nation, but the youth rating etc take over for those player's PA. So even if it's thousands of unwanted free agents retiring season 1, the intake is much better due to high youth rating & game importance. Then countries like Spain, France and Brazil keep up due to having much better youth rating, but don't have the same volume of players (Brazil actually has larger intakes in my tests but I think this is due to the dates I exported on, with more of the unwanted low potential intake players still present in the game).
I'd like to know how you got to these numbers: Is it nationality per intake, or is it which country the players are based in? For example, Nordsjælland will usually get some Ghanian and Egyptian newgens each intake, do those count towards Denmark (where you'd be sending your scouts) or their respective countries?
Pretty sure its based on nation, not the nationality of those wonderkids. I'm purely going off England having that high wonderkid production. My experience is that correlates with the youth intakes but huge amounts of those kids are either not english or only second nationality english.
No way ! I play with Woking in England and i had Tanzanian kind of wonderkid, but he had dual citizenship (english) came through the youth intake. The board sold him "forced" even though i tried using your trick with putting the asking list high. He was worth 300k, and bournemouth offered 7 million for him. This was early in the game so i only received 15% of that 7 million. Funny story. Now when i scout he shows up so often i see him everywhere.
Another example of why the FM devs/staff favour England. The country does not really produce the greatest players IRL. I see average players IRL with great stats and crazy values in-game. It should be better balanced for future FMs.
I don't use anything that would give me an advantage in the game but I must say this should be really nice to use after like 10 years in game. Just to check what's going on around the world in terms of youth intake.
Was your manager of Indian decent? I got a 190 potential Bruneian in my Youth Intake last season (Next best YI player was 144). No idea how he got in there. My Manager is Irish, my team English Premier, HOYD English, my youth affiliates are in South Korea and France.
I can't find anyone talking about this, can someone help me. It's about Italian new-gen. Italian clubs have an insane amount of national affiliation that make no sense, looking at the editor I realized they have the "Youth player training" active (which is not supposed to be possible). This is how Italian club get good youth intake. Three years into a save your club (mostly only your club) will end this deals (I later found out it's hard coded but can be changed from the editor, but not in-game), after that your club will have at best 130-150 potential youth intake. Is there a way to get good intake beside the traditional ways? I maxed out my facilities, got a bunch of affiliation etc. As far as I know this is unique to Italy
Yeah, Georgia is blank, just as Kaliningrad Oblast (which is a part of Russia). So is Republic of Congo. Also, Taiwan and parts of Indonesia and Philippines. They are tricky, right, but still =)
As an Englishman it’s annoying how OP English regens are in the game. We have won nothing since 1966 and our league relies on quality foreign players as the top stars. Croatia, Spain and Holland always feel UP in my saves. Don’t even get me started on Scotland producing 6”2 regens with 18 acceleration and pace when historically they are nothing like this athletically…!
It isn't. This just isn't showing what you think it is. It is showing which nations leagues the players appear not the nationality that they are. A Croatia wonderkid that generates at a Premier League club will count as "England" on this tool. Bit useless if you ask me.
@@thebiglebrowski3695 yeah and it’s very unlikely a Croatian/Bosnian/Kosovan regenerating in England would choose to play for England given loyalties to their parents country… obviously you can’t make it 100% accurate but there’s still things like that which big me
@@karlm641 I haven't seen that happen much myself. Again though, that still isn't what this tool show. All it shows is where they generated. Their nationality or who they choose to represent is entirely separate from where they generate.
I'm looking to start a new save, what's everyones advice for starting out? If you have a team with a set tactic do you stick with tactics that suit players you have or do you bring in your own style and ditch players that don't fit the tactic and recruit suitable replacements?
Loaannss....Oh, Loaanss.... A good option for acquiring decent players with minimum spending....is called a LOOANNNSS.... Never forget it.....Oh, Loaannss...
So the UK bias is real. More wonder kids than France is a joke. 😂 If you take all international pros out of Premier league, nobody would give a f€#% I can relate to Germany hardly making it top ten.
How is USA possibly so low? They have young players sprinkled around leagues in Europe which is more than many of the 71 countries ahead of them can boast. Not to mention they consistently perform well in national youth teams. The lack of awareness is shocking to have them rated so low
Is this that they are actually produced in that country, or they are of that nationality? Eg. I manage Nice and one of the very best wonderkid strikers is Egyptian, but he came up through my youth inktake. Does that count on this system as France or Egypt? Becuase surely it shouldn't count as Egypt as they had basically nothing to do with it?
I have a scouting question... If a scout has complete knowledge of Brazil is there any point in sending more than 1 scout to Brazil? Like will there be more players scouted if I send 2/3? or will it just be done faster?
Zealand I had a question about staff atributes. So I am managing Sparta Rotterdam (mid table team from Holland) and I got Arjen Robben as a coach for my first team. Only problem is he has terrible stats. I've send him to courses to improve those stats. He has the highest level now (pro license) I believe and he's still shite. Is there any other way to get him at least some decents stats or should I just find a better coach / trainer?
4:31 lmao, just like in real life xD Mexico produces some great players but most of them stay on liga mx or expansion mx because the clubs usually ask for money like if they were the new Messi or something.
I should clarify a couple of things I maybe didn't explain properly:

I guess England has a huge number of pro footballers compared to pretty much any nation. We've got a professional team for every 500,000 people, whereas Germany has one pro team for every 1.5m people. I *think* Italy now has loads of pro teams, but I am not quite what Serie C looks like.
Me being a data analyst by profession got a little too excited to see this app open in PowerBI lmao.
In FM22 I found Serbia to be a real hot bed for wonderkids. In my current save on FM23, I have noticed that Mexico are producing an abundance of talented youngsters.
serbia won the world cup in my 23 save lol.
The English bias is hilarious.
as a moroccan I love the fact that my country made the list! (25% of every wonderkid from belgium, netherlands, spain and france is probably a moroccan)
did Luka Modric sleep with the FM creators wives 😭 Croatia should atleast be in the top 15 based on the last couple years
Except for the top 15 this list feels very different from real life ( I’ve just seen Bolivia are above Sweden and Norway💀)
the USA being below Tanzania and the Faroe Islands is legitimately comical
The background music really hits hard
Video idea 💡
Would love to see a comparison between manual scouting and having the best possible chief of scout doing it.
Curious if doing it manually actually pays off 🤨
Do it!!!
Anyway, yes, Turkish players are surprisingly outstanding in my save. Some did originate as Germans though, so ... there.
It's nation based in. Those players would count towards Denmark for your example.
Pretty sure its based on nation, not the nationality of those wonderkids. I'm purely going off England having that high wonderkid production. My experience is that correlates with the youth intakes but huge amounts of those kids are either not english or only second nationality english.
Amazing work.Well done lads
This is why I use the editor to make england and their talents more realistic, which would be roughly top 10 in this list
Wow this is really cool. I'm checking this out asap
Serious props to Steven/Stephen
I think you guys forgor☠️ Croatia because there is no way for them not to be there.
ENGLAND first? Miles is completely crazy!
As a Swede I'm shocked and appalled Denmark do better than us.
Shocked? I’m Swedish and Denmark are clear of us in producing wonderkids
@@leifixan_1961 I'm gonna go ahead and revoke your citizenship. Whatever the facts may be, we don't accept that Denmark are better than us at anything
You can re roll a youth intakes stats if you save the game the day before the intake adn just keep reloading until you get the stats you want

Good gosh what unbelievable work!
How is Croatia averaging less than 1 150 potential player and serbia is at above 5
This is far from real life
except not really. croatia is 18th in top5 league exports while serbia is 13th. denmark is underappreciated here (12th IRL) and thats about it.
@@dpad_ yea but look Serbians players and Croatian
@Lazar better individual players? Only where is Serbia better is in ST position
least delusional & fascist croat
So England in game not only has the highest mobey but also the highest amount of wornderkids. Geez, I wonder why we feel England is overrated in FM...
FM truly is an Englishmen's football fanfic lol
yeey 😂😂 here from TANZANIA.
I'm not surprised to see Serbia high up on the list. They have been a go-to source of cheap good young players for years now
Another example of why the FM devs/staff favour England. The country does not really produce the greatest players IRL. I see average players IRL with great stats and crazy values in-game. It should be better balanced for future FMs.
Tanzania making me proud!!!🇹🇿🇹🇿
In one of my saves a wonder kid from the Faroe Island won the golden ball
I don't use anything that would give me an advantage in the game but I must say this should be really nice to use after like 10 years in game. Just to check what's going on around the world in terms of youth intake.
Serbia being 11 doesn’t surprise me too much because poaching cheap wonderkids of Crvena Zvezda is how I made my success in a Wrexham save
Anytime, Zealand! 👍🏻
I think the more important or consistently used tool for me will be the personality calculator, so useful for the game. Thanks for these tools!
I once got an Indian in my youth intake with 180 potential. I think the managers' nationality plays a role in youth intake of that nation
Was your manager of Indian decent?
I got a 190 potential Bruneian in my Youth Intake last season (Next best YI player was 144). No idea how he got in there. My Manager is Irish, my team English Premier, HOYD English, my youth affiliates are in South Korea and France.
Thanks Steven, thanks Z!
OMG ! This is a gold mine !
In FM 22 serbia is one of the best, it produces very good talents for a very cheap price
When Zealand prays it reminds me of the priest from Wallace and Gromit, the were rabbit 😂😂
Lovely word Z and team
Yeah, Georgia is blank, just as Kaliningrad Oblast (which is a part of Russia). So is Republic of Congo. Also, Taiwan and parts of Indonesia and Philippines. They are tricky, right, but still =)
Sweden,Norway, Croacia and Denmark among others seem underpowered while England and Serbia are too OP (I myself have a 189PA serbian gk in my save)
What an amazing tool thank you Steven
I'm looking to start a new save, what's everyones advice for starting out? If you have a team with a set tactic do you stick with tactics that suit players you have or do you bring in your own style and ditch players that don't fit the tactic and recruit suitable replacements?
Loaannss....Oh, Loaanss.... A good option for acquiring decent players with minimum spending....is called a LOOANNNSS.... Never forget it.....Oh, Loaannss...
This is insane wow.
So the UK bias is real. More wonder kids than France is a joke. 😂 If you take all international pros out of Premier league, nobody would give a f€#%
I can relate to Germany hardly making it top ten.
Honestly if you're using this tool then you may as well use the in-game editor
The fact that Mexico is in the list is hilarious. Thats a country that never had good players like Alexis Sanchez, Arturo Vidal or Ivan Zamorano
So when I'm scouting Brazil for young future star wingers and playmakers, I'm not just commiting to a cliche and I'm 100% correct? Sweet.
How is USA possibly so low? They have young players sprinkled around leagues in Europe which is more than many of the 71 countries ahead of them can boast. Not to mention they consistently perform well in national youth teams.
The lack of awareness is shocking to have them rated so low
ASEC Mimosas from Ivory Coast produces some great and cheap players.
Wow Croatia was hit with a nerf bat.
The Italy slander won't stop😂
How is hungary not there? Whe have Szoboszlai, Shaefer, Kerkez Milos, Bolla, and romania is still in front of us
Is this that they are actually produced in that country, or they are of that nationality? Eg. I manage Nice and one of the very best wonderkid strikers is Egyptian, but he came up through my youth inktake. Does that count on this system as France or Egypt? Becuase surely it shouldn't count as Egypt as they had basically nothing to do with it?
All hail Stephen!
germany and portugal are in my experience the best
Also, Croatia always produces alot of wonderkids and so does Portugal, who weren't included on the list right?
7:50 Foreshadowing 😂
4:31
lmao, just like in real life xD Mexico produces some great players but most of them stay on liga mx or expansion mx because the clubs usually ask for money like if they were the new Messi or something.
It is san marino if you use the pregame editor dark arts hehehe
I was honestly a little startled by how poorly Poland did in this list. Thought they might be better.
thank you for finally uploading a football manager video
How do you manually change this in game? For example if I want to downgrade England and upgrade Croatia
You could with the in game editor or with the pregame editor. In the nation profile screen there is youth rating and you could change it as you like
Can I use this for FM22, as kind of a simple ground base or no? Haven’t got 23
Bump
I guess its a dumb question, but do you have a website like this for fm11?
Have Zealand realeased a scout guide on this FM yet ?
what I do is that I go to scouting then then I add potential ability when I am searching for youths simple.
awesome site ty
