I just now made the "batter", and I have to say that this is the most delicious vegan breakfast sausage I have tried. I quadrupled the recipe because I work, and thought to freeze some. I have 2 men to cook for here, and they are going to love it. I did cut down on the red pepper a little because I only had ground, and I used low sodium soy sauce. I also added some miso paste and some veggie bouillon. Didn't add the salt. This sausage has tons of flavor! Girl, you can cook! Thank you!
I made this recipe this morning. I followed it exactly and they came out perfect! I love that the ingredients are pantry staples and this is a much healthier alternative than some of the store-bought mock meats. They were delicious straight out of the oven with nothing added. I am looking forward to making a breakfast sandwich with these but I also think they would be fantastic on top of like a nourish grain bowl with maybe a roasted red pepper tahini sauce. Have you tried crumbling up the patties once they're cooked to add them to different recipes? Thank you for sharing. I am a new subscriber.
I’m so happy you liked them!! I have not tried crumbling them but that is such a great idea! If you try it, please let me know how it is, and thanks for subscribing 😊
So nice to see a comment by someone who actually made the recipe instead of “this looks delicious, can’t wait to try it”. 🙄. Thanks for sharing your experience.
@@chickpeachick I made this recipe again this weekend, leaving out the fennel this time, but following it exactly otherwise. I put them in the fridge overnight. Today I crumbled them up into a skillet, (I just used my hands and it was easy after chilling them overnight). I sautéed with a bit of oil along with a couple tablespoons of taco seasoning and then splashes of water as needed until the crumbles browned and crisped. It came out delicious!
Love this! Always looking for plant-based meals as I have a family history of Cancer so need to avoid the estrogen and possible BLV in dairy and choline and lead in eggs and the igf-1 and DDT in meat. Thanks for sharing
OMG WE TRIED IT!! IT'S GREAT! SERIOUSLY YUMMY and best one I have tried so far on the web!!! Honestly I do not think it can be beat!! Lily, we made the original recipe with the maple syrup when we were making sausages and then, we simply omitted the maple syrup and used this same recipe for burgers!!! YUM!!! So flexible and soooo amazing !! THANK YOU. Also made sandwhiches and wraps with it (after cutting up!) We are very happy!
What i like about sausage is the flavor and texture. Flavor is easy to duplicate, texture another thing. I'll give these a try. I think the best way to duplicate texture is with seitan or other gluten product which i need to avoid. Thanks for the recipe, it sounds like it'll taste awesome. The walnuts will help give it texture and form. I might try adding shrooms too.
thanks for this! always looking for wfpb breakfast sausage recipes. would love to make a batch in bulk and cook throughout the week! can’t wait to try.
Thank you. Awesome. Just came across this video and your channel and am now a subscriber. I look forward to making this recipe and watching the rest of your videos.
I've just made some of these, the video was really easy to follow and they came out great. I think I'll be making these regularly.... much better and healthier than store bought ones.
if your body is burning fat instead of glucose, then I dont beleive you feel starvation. If you have fatty reserves, when you fast for extended periods like 10 days or a month, you would quickly discover that when you are burning fat there is never hunger, only nostalgic memories of food you like to tempt you, but the road is no hunger bound. If you're a fatty, you body has much to eat.
The printed recipe is in the description box but I will paste it here as well! I'm glad you enjoyed the video! Chickpea Breakfast Sausage Ingredients - 1 can of chickpeas drained and rinsed - 1 cup of oats (divided in half) - 1/2 onion diced - 1/2 cup walnuts - 1/4 cup nutritional yeast - 2 tbsp flax seed - 1/2 onion diced - 2 tbsp tamari or soy sauce or coconut aminos - 2 tbsp maple syrup or coconut sugar - 1 tbsp minced garlic - 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar - 1 tsp vegan Worcestershire sauce - 1 tsp liquid smoke - 1 tsp onion powder - 1 tsp garlic powder - 1 tsp smoked paprika - 1 tsp dried fennel seeds - 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes - 1/2 tsp salt (optional) Directions 1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees and line a baking tray with parchment paper 2. Dice and sauté the onion over medium heat using a tbsp of water to deglaze the pan and caramelize the onions 3. Once onions are softened add the spices, salt and fennel to the onions and stir for 1-2 minutes until fragrant 4. Then, deglaze the pan with the wet ingredients, tamari, maple syrup, vinegar, liquid smoke and Worcestershire 5. Stir for 1-2 mins and reduce to low 6. Next, in a food processor or high speed blender, add 1/2 cup of the oats, the walnuts, flax seed and the nutritional yeast 7. Pulse on low until the walnuts and oats are ground to a powder 8. Next add the chickpeas and the onion mixture and pulse until mostly smooth 9. Lastly, add in the remaining (1/2 cup) of oats and pulse to combine 10. Wet your hands and scoop the mixture into about 2tbsp balls and flatten into disks, this will make 6-8 sausages depending on the size 11. Bake for 20 minutes, then flip over and bake for another 15 minutes, let cool slightly and enjoy! Note: You can freeze these for an easy breakfast addition! (just wrap in parchment or tin foil)
@@chickpeachick no offense intended, but a lot of people resort to chickpeas out of frugality, and they are not likely to have all those ingredients to add. Face it, chickpeas are not on most people's list of tastiest foods. Perhaps a slimmed down version of this recipe to achieve most of the flavor with less ingredients
I'm saddened because this girl used minced garlic in a jar..It's a complete waste of time..In fact I wish this product would be just put in a a bin.. I hope this girl get's this..I hope she reply's really I do???

What is your favorite vegan cheese? What brand are you using on your breakfast sandwich?
Our favorite is the new Daiya Oat Cream recipe American slices, it melts so heavenly!
@@chickpeachick Have you ever tried freezing these slices?
Good recipe 😋
Thanks, I hope you try it 😊
Good recipe! Thanks
My pleasure 😊
Looks yummy. FYI ~ there is no onion on your ingredients list above.
You’re the best for noticing that, thank you!! 🙏🏼
Yum! Copied your recipe! Of course, giving alll the credit to you. Can't wait to try it!

Can your sausage compete with pepperoni for Pizza?
Ooo I never thought of that! It could be a good substitute for meat on pizza!
Fascinating! Thanks for sharing this.
My pleasure, you should try it! 😊
Have you tried freezing these at all?
Yes! They freeze well!
Printable recipe please
Do you have an email I can send it to?
Thanks for the video - you should throw a towel under your cutting board so it doesn’t slip. :)
Yes! Thank you for the great tip! 😊
I just made these they are good.. ketchup on bread !
I’m so happy you liked them! 🩷
So glad you enjoyed them!
68 ingredients flavoring the chickpeas? You could use a dish rag instead with all those spices etc and it would taste good.
Just out here trying my best to flavor food well! Maybe I can come up with a recipe that’s made with simpler ingredients 😊

nutritional yeast and vegetable bouillon can work wonders
