Even though I’ve left college a few years ago it’s funny how I still find so much value in taking notes and perfecting the notes I take. A learning journey is never truly over and I’ve been reflecting on the truth of that statement as I make my way through individual learning opportunities, finding new books and topics to explore and diving into whatever pursue my curiosity leads me to.
As you become more independent and detach yourself from the methods you’ve learned for the sake of efficiency and academic success, you discover what works for you and what helps you establish your pace, your process, your technique. And suddenly you are no longer following the crowd and doing what everyone else is doing which, in a way is simply… basic. As you fine tune the process and learn more about yourself, you finally become able to draft the most advanced and wonderful notes, like a personal encyclopaedia you’ll feel so much joy creating.
And I find some curious things now. For instance, the importance of changing your mindset about how notes should be taken. While in college I was so focused on creating beautiful, well-written notes, I now understand the value of looking at this little repository of knowledge as a personal, customised collection of memories and key concepts, laid out in whatever format helps me remember it better. It makes sense to me only and instead of selflessly catering to other’s methods or techniques, I’m making sure I am jotting down this simplified account of my knowledge for my eyes only.
As I’ve been taking more notes and engaging in this mindset I also notice that repetition is key - my class or meeting notes aren’t supposed to be read like an essay or a poem. I no longer have to make an effort to try and find synonyms when trying to convey my ideas and come up with a perfect literary piece. Repeating words (even if it’s not Shakespeare) is fundamental for memorisation. As you find the same word or idea repeated multiple times in the same paragraph, maybe in a slightly different context, you’ll identify key ideas about that word instead of having to navigate through different meanings, synonyms and pronouns and try to interpret the meaning of your jumble of words.
Another thing I have learned to do is, in the same way, value my words and my summaries a bit more. Maybe creating a contents page or table of contents for my notes, slipping that in my notebook or binder to help find my way through what I’ve written, my conclusions, my questions and concerns. After all, navigating these thoughts is like looking through a map and sometimes you need to be quick, efficient and know where to find information on the go. So having this map nearby can be incredibly valuable.
Sometimes the biggest change is in the smallest things. Shifting your view, turning the page, looking at the world upside down, can be so helpful. Turning your page and opting for landscape notes can offer so much space to help organize your records in a different way, bracketing information, concepts and ideas along the page, structuring your thoughts in a new way.
And as you make these notes personal and yours, creating your secret code, only yours to interpret and develop, can speed up the writing and reading process, which can be especially helpful for visual learners. And there are so many different combinations and colors that you can try to make the notes your own that you are allowed to have a little fun with this.

I usually write down all the information about my day even though it's good or not. I remember at the beginning of my process, i used to think all the time in English and started imagining any situation in my brain only in English instead of Portuguese which is my first language. The result of it was unbelievable because i learned a lot to express my thoughts or some action at supermarket, bank, or even in streets. Although, i need to fix some mistakes, pronunciation but I'm really proud of myself due to vocabulary i already learned whom I've been learning since last year.. by the way it was completed 1 year by myself. If you're learning English just keep going no matter how hard it seems, believe in yourself first, then you'll achieve all of your dreams. Brazilian guy here🇧🇷
Thank you for sharing your learning journey :)
I needed😍
my first language is not English but I understand every word because in your video you pronounce every word very smoothly and slowly. that's really great thank you
Do you have a video about the tools you use for physical notes? I would love to know which highlighters, sticky tabs, and notebook you are using in this video!
Me too please❤
I just love how consistent this channel has been since it started! Inspirational
I love the cozy autumn vibes of this video! I've found that buying fun and fancy notebooks, pens, and stickers makes it more fun to take notes, and helps make the habit more enjoyable.
I totally agree!
Could you please post the link of the book u use to take notes? I mean the big one with gridlines, the one at 1:55
Your bookshelf gives me so much joy just by realizing that there are other people like me who takes care of their books like their own baby. And I am not crazy.
Your not crazy. Thomas Jefferson referred to his personal library as another form of memory. His collection was so vast that those who purchased it gave it to the United States and it became the first Library of Congress.
When circumstances required it, I parted with 65 boxes of books myself, so you're uncommon but not strange or weird by any means.
I like how you adapt note-taking to your own needs and wants. This is how the habit can stick 👌
I noticed your notebook,it is huge 📕🙂. Can I ask, where did you get it?
Thanks
Every time when I watch your videos I can calm my heart ❤️
Honestly i loved your Hand written notes ❤more than the Notion notes .
Thanks a lot 😊
@@mariana-vieira Oh my gosh, same! I'd love to know what notebooks you're using! The big one looks like it's the perfect size for a research journal!
This is very informational. Can you please talk about the materials and stationery you use as well?
My first video as it was just in my feed. I love everything about it and how you processed your work in total calmness. You have a new subscriber.
I’ve been thinking of going back through all my notes from grad school and entering them into something searchable as well as using the opportunity to re-learn some of the things I have forgotten.
Thank you for sharing. :)
I love the aesthetic. Where do you purchase the notebooks and tabs for your note taking process?
I'd love to see a video of the materials that you use.
Beautiful, inspiring video! Thank you for sharing! 👍😍

Thank you for this video. Can I ask what type of notebooks are used in this video please? I would love to know more about the large thicker lined notebook.
I just noticed how good your English has gotten 😙👌
Hello, I love your videos! I am heading off to college and want to perfect my note taking skills. Would you mind doing a video about your math notes, it would be really helpful!❤☺️
Great video (as always).
I always liked taking notes, like you said "A learning journey is never truly over".
My daughter is "in love" with your writing and materials, maybe you should share some links for "stuff" in your videos (i loved the lamp).
Best regards
The lamp is from IKEA, I've got the same one
Hello! It makes me wanna write!!! Can you tell me which pen is the one you’re using? Thanks! 🙂
Love your videos! What brand of electric kettle do you have?
It would be so helpful if you could write what you are using in the info box. Your pens obviously get along very well with the paper. It's a pity and annoying when you realize the first time you write that the paper isn't good and the pens push through. Then you can't return it. Hence my questions:
Is the A4 hardcover checkered by Moleskine or Leuchtturm? As I have now found out after a long research, the thick daily planner with soft cover is from Moleskine? The Leuchtturm daily planner has a different page design.
Are your pens waterproof from Uniball Eye Micro UB-150 (which line thickness?) and Staedtler (inkproof)?
Thanks for sharing your tips 🙂, what's the name of the music playing? It's so relaxing.
A dream does not become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination, and hard work
What journal are you using at :25-:32 please?
May I ask what notebook you are using here? Thank you!
Which notebooks are you using in this video (the large one and the small thick one)? Would love if you could link the items you are using (notebooks, pens, etc.). Great video!
They're both Moleskine notebooks. The largest is an A4 Professional Grid Notebook and the smallest is a classic moleskin daily diary
Hi! Which pens and sticky notes do you use?
Hi! I think something is wrong with the Notion link. I already have Notion but your link opens as a general-sign in page on my browser (usually it opens in the app showing me the template or user page).
However, thank you for your videos and all the inspiration you give us! 😃
It’s bc is IS a link to the general sign-in page. It’s a link for u to sign up
@@lovvelyz Oh, thanks. I didn't even read, I supposed it was the link to the templates, but it's in the text below that link.
May I know the name of your notebook please ?
글씨가 너무 이쁘다... 아마 마음씨도 고울 것 같다... ^.^

So stay safe from all the data collecting apps. I am saying you because you are a good person. I usually don't tell to all the people.
Where’s the video of your system and how you take notes?
A more accurate title would be "How I Take Notes Aesthetically".
Really? 2:03 a two minute backstory?
Very low signal to fluff ratio in this presentation.
aka 7 minutes of aesthetic images talking about nothing just for the sake of promoting a sponsor? no thank you
haha so stupid comment
Notion collects all your data so I cannot rely on that.....
