It is such a privilege to listen to this amazing choir. I have been fortunate enough to have seen them live at Evensong services several times, and it is always a joy. Thank you for sharing this video!

By God's Grace, Durufle somehow brought the sounds of Heaven to earth so that we here on earth can offer them as a prayer to Our Father in Heaven. May Maurice rest in Peace 👑✝️🕊️🙏🎶

I truly believe that King's College Choir is a direct link between God and man. Not an exaggeration, not hyperbole. Many people throughout the years have felt it. God makes some people temporary angels and those involved with this choir certainly are just that -- temporary angels.
Just as there is undeniable evil in the world there is undeniable good, and King's College Choir is simply, good. May God bless them all.

This is a lovely piece and not very easy. I'll be singing it with a church choir at a friend's funeral. Even though it is in Latin, it'll be tough to get through. These children make it sound effortless, though. I'll have to channel them as I sing it for inspiration.

I think Durufle aimed for a twilight/vespers aura in this piece. The voices beautifully express Durufle's harmones but they lose the aura with this tempo. (48 would be better than 60). The melody in Gjielo's andante is an interpretation of a slower Durufle setting.

Would it surprise you to learn that over the years a few of the Choral scholars (the university students who sing bass, tenor , baritone and counter-tenor) in the row behind the boys come from Roman Catholic backgrounds? The singing of both Holy Eucharist and Evensong under the Book of Common prayer does not present some major theological issue particularly since there is an Anglican style service approved by Rome. It uses much of the same structure as the Prayer Book for Evensong.
