You do realise the reason they say they are a must is because they would be supporting them and they get them all for free and in return they have to advertise them as much as possible.
I’ve had it all, Expensive, medium and low cost. Now in low cost mode and like you, never looked back. Been around Australia twice now and having so many options with roof top tent, awing, spare tent and set up like yours gave me options big campers didn’t. Each to their own and depends what you prepared to live with. The only thing I’ve added is a gas bottled shower unit made by Companion. This is for dishes/showers off grid. For $450, wonder why I didn’t buy earlier. OH, I’ve dumped extras to carry extra 100ltrs water and purchased 50m thin hose to run from creaks to unit. I don’t have 4wd, but SUV and set up similar. Yes, takes more time to set up, but running/replacement costs so much less. Great vid. Thanks
I do motocycle camping and hiking myself so the sheer amount of crap that people think they need boggles my mind. So much of it just adds cost and complexity. 4WD lets you carry a good camp chair and a big ice chest which is all the luxury i need.
Great stuff I find it way better watching clever hacks done by some people that use their brains as opposed to bigger channels that drop 250k on a fully sponsored rig.
it's all about getting that little bit more comfort and convenience with small upgrades here and there, before you know it you got a 300 series with a caravan :D
Liam, don't cut the Engel cable, get a flush mount Engel-style socket. You can unscrew the cig plug adapter off the fridge cable and plug it straight in to the socket.
Nice set up, it's amazing how many things you can open a bottle off, seatbelt works too, spd mountain bike pedal is another, always best to.take cans though heaps lighter to transport full or empty, and take up less space
Circumnavigated Australia with my mrs in a tray back land cruiser and 2 swags. Put a blue tarp up when it rained. Pretty funny to see all the shit people think they need.
It was such a pleasure to watch you two young fellas setting up a simple camp and enjoying that beautiful riverside camp site. My setup is similar with awning and sides, big swag, portable fire pit, and generator etc...but all in a 6 x 4 trailer. I'm not hardcore 4WD but love camping! Oh!...and have a drone too for those beautiful aerial shots. Great work, keep posting...thanks!👍
That Raspberry Pi running Linux is unique! Never seen anything like that before. I don't really have any need for it but now you've got me wanting one to play with.
I love my Toyota Sequoia because it serves as a amazing overlanding rig and camper setup, plenty of space for gear and sleeping space inside, no need for any tent.
I had an old triton ute with a small crane on the back, i used to just extend the boom of the crane out and hang my hammock off underneath it. If you put a tarp over the arm of the crane you basically then had A frame tent on the back of the ute. Had to hide the jack handle that was cranked to move the crane upwards though otherwise people would try to make your hammock go from horizontal to vertical while you're still in it lol.
The only possible practical use for a rooftop tent would be if you were camping somewhere the ground is literal mud. I've never been impressed since I first saw them, why would I want to climb up and down like that? Great video guys!
Bought a RTT thinking it was going to be comfy but I was so wrong. The ladders are near unbearable with no shoes specially after sinking a few brewskys. Gone back to an Oztent with a blow up mattress and wouldn’t go back.
So true. My girlfriend and canoe/camp with only our food a few supplies , a sleeping bag and a tarp. And these are deep in the northern boreal forest of north west Canada. Mo shit, mo problems. Plus a portage with gear monkeys is painful. Same with travel over seas. I carry a school sized backpack. For 3 to 6 month stays. I get a kick from all the people who go out and spend 1000s of dollars on gear to travel Europe etc . When they can get anything they need in Europe for far less. And half the things people bring they hardly use. I get a kick out of watching people struggle with their abundance of borderline useless gear. And then there is the people who need the most prim accommodations. Some of my most memorable experiences come from sleeping in a ditch or park in some far off land( russia, Bulgaria, Bosnia, Romania etc.) Being uncomfortable at times is actually what i believe makes living worthwhile and memorable.
I prefer to sleep inside 😃 but you have nice simple setups. My plan is to do my first long trip solo and with a really basic setup. I first gonna travel before building my camperbox 😄
My mate and i went camping with an esky , sleeping bags , food and water supplies. Easily in Cowra NSW night time sleeping was -5 so not too bad. 😅 Cost us $200 total for 3 days 2 nights, lol
Get a voltage step up converter for the drone similar to what we use for things like the 12v ovens to make them run optimal, that will make the charger happy.
Great vid guys, like the data upload 12v box. With the drone charging maybe a step-up voltage regulator, a lot of the guys use them for their travel buddies. check it out...
We’ve been travelling around Australia now for 10 months with just our double swag out the back of our 80 series . RTT’s are a gimmick and once you put some thought into it they don’t really add up .
You guys think this is amazing. You'd be appalled by how much fun we have for so cheap when me and my dad go camping. I'll have to make a video this summer and post it!
You don't need to cut the cable of your fridge 12v plug to put on an Anderson plug. I got the whole cable from 4wd supacentre for like $20 with an Anderson plug that plugs into the 12v plug on the fridge, and I still have a ciggie plug cable for if I ever need it
I really like liams patrol because it’s so rough it’s cool and it’s been used and is still going to be used for a Long time and it really shows why replace what’s not broken?
Great to point out that you don't need buckets of money for a lot of gear just basics. A lot of my camping gear is been in use by me since before 1991 and still working. Camp stoves n cooking gear. I've been using a Tent Cot for over 12 years, now on fridge / freezer that I should have got many years ago only good use for coolers is for fish and game or day use. To many people have moved to "Glamping" not camping. Many times I still just take and use a hammock skipping tent even. I wish all of you down under to be released back to normal life soon.
This makes me miss camping as a young single man! Wait till you've got a wife and and a couple of kids, your camping setup will be VERY different! Although I can say with 100% honesty there's nobody I'd rather camp with than my wife and kids, they're the best crew I've ever gone bush with.
Most responsible campers look at a wet weekend come across a deep bog on the Trail and find somewhere else rather than choose to drive through and fuck it up for good
Awesome stuff guys nice to see people just getting out there and having fun! you only really get to know what you need when you find you don't have it lol 😆
Thanks for sharing boys. Love the basic setup. I think people complicate camping by taking to much and having to much. Good job. How do you rate the XTM drawers?
Here is our little bonus video showing our setups, this Sunday is part 2 of the High Country Trip! Cheers guys!
I’d give it a year and you’ll be Australia’s best 4x4 channel
You can buy an inline pump that you attach to your drill. Would have enough grunt for your needs and cost like 20 bucks.
Dont ever stop! Telling people how to keep it simple and keep it cheap, will be such an encouraging thing for a lot of people!
I prefer basic setups like this to the $10k 12v systems you see. Nice and versatile for different kind of trips. 👌
Mo Money Mo Problems
@@AussieArvos what site did you get the swags and bin bag from ?
@@JordanGlennon www.raingersupplyco.com/
I think lithium power stations are a better way to go. Can be used for multiple devices and you don't lose them if you sell the car, my two cents.
What? Where's the $15k DMW canopy and $10k Redarc 12v system? I thought they were a game changer and a must have? haha
It is a must have according to DMW and Redac.
Dont forget the stupid toiletry bags for 300 and fridges for $2000+ from arb yeti and all those deros
Give me ridge ryder or give me death! Na just kidding but fuck all that expensive shit lol
You do realise the reason they say they are a must is because they would be supporting them and they get them all for free and in return they have to advertise them as much as possible.
@@mayhemsforbigboys no shit really?

Proof you don't need the best gear to have fun while camping/4WDing. Great work boys.

I keep waiting for that 300 to mysteriously show up in my driveway, any minute now surely! 🤣
Liam, don't cut the Engel cable, get a flush mount Engel-style socket. You can unscrew the cig plug adapter off the fridge cable and plug it straight in to the socket.
Probably already sorted but can buy a plug made with Anderson 🍻
For a shower, get a 5l pump sprayer from the hardware. Easy, cheap, decent pressure for a shower and minimal water used. Take one everywhere I go 🤙
Nice one gents. So long as you're prepared for the trip you're doing, there's no need to spend big on gear. 👍
Nice set up, it's amazing how many things you can open a bottle off, seatbelt works too, spd mountain bike pedal is another, always best to.take cans though heaps lighter to transport full or empty, and take up less space

spot on!

I 100 percent agree with you about the RTT. They are more trouble than they are worth.
Really nice setups boys well done.
Last time camping we had a Eski and a Kmart tent

I love my Toyota Sequoia because it serves as a amazing overlanding rig and camper setup, plenty of space for gear and sleeping space inside, no need for any tent.
Good to see you guys representing an alternate way to do things.
Your still glamping from how i used to do it! But i was more into stealth camping. Thumbs up boys for getting out there and enjoying the good life!
I had an old triton ute with a small crane on the back, i used to just extend the boom of the crane out and hang my hammock off underneath it.

I’ve never seen anyone with a onboard video storage system. Didn’t know you could make something like that. Pretty cool!
first vid ive seen of yous and immediate sub, good stuff wish i had a 4by but cant sell my commy haha
I prefer to sleep inside 😃 but you have nice simple setups. My plan is to do my first long trip solo and with a really basic setup. I first gonna travel before building my camperbox 😄
Awesome video guys, it shows even those on basic budgets that it's all food, less is sometimes more
I like it. Just discovered this video. It’ll be on my Facebook within minutes.
Fuckin Amen to the caption!!! Glamping is a real thing. You can camp with very minimal items ,👏
My mate and i went camping with an esky , sleeping bags , food and water supplies. Easily in Cowra NSW night time sleeping was -5 so not too bad. 😅
Cost us $200 total for 3 days 2 nights, lol
Great set up. Looks simple and very functional.
In the city it’s called being homeless… in the bush it’s called camping…
Liams setup looks homeless in the bush lol
Pretty sure they actually have a home though... There is a specific reason why it's called homeless...
Love the set up, camping should be simple!!

The shower set up is awesome! I wld use something like this on my car if i had it.

Or get a posifit socket from ebay for around $17. No need to cut the cable then.
We need a updated rig rundown and cost brake down
Minus sponsorship!?😊😊😊
I prefer a traditional swag with no annoying poles. Also no awning if no rain- real simple
it sounds like your awning just needs some seam sealing if its leaking out! super easy and cheap to do
Cheers for the run down guys. Looks like an awesome setup!
How refreshing, great video.
Good work boys. Replace those water jerry taps with snap taps. Way better.
They look more prone to let the water out unexpectedly??
I really like liams patrol because it’s so rough it’s cool and it’s been used and is still going to be used for a Long time and it really shows why replace what’s not broken?
I tie up the side of my tray on my ute and use that as a Bench/Table
Thanks for sharing your set ups .
Keep up the good work fellas.
The drone vision is fantastic.👍
Need a lil 100buck 12v pump for ya water. Bit more pressure. But yeh. Cheap n easy setup
I can use PVC. An a tarp. It wont break ❤❤
Love a cheeky mid week vid 🤙🤙🤙
Well presented bud, love to hear how you have your awning mounted to the canopy. Thinking to ditch the marque and upgrade to an awning
Yeah my plan was to get everything from eBay
Except driving lights and other stuff
Can you show more about the Linux card dump setup?
With your leaking awning, it probably just needs to be re seam sealed. You can get stuff from most camping stores that deal with hiking tents
pat, ya should get a 180° awning for that extra rain protection at the back of the 80
i'd love one hahah they just cost an arm and a leg ahah!
Nice easy simple setup awesome and works well
Good job boys, digging your gear
Don’t cut the engel cable, Jaycar sell replacement one so cut one of them into a Anderson plug
Great setup, would love to know more about the long fire pit at 1:07 min
Wicked setups guys. You don't need to spend massive dollars to have a good time
See that the smell a 2 stroke helps send ya to sleep!! 🤣🤣

You can buy an engel to anderson plug pretty cheap on ebay mate, better than cutting the ciggie plug
Ciģ plugs are unreliable. Just cut it off and solder an anderson plug or if your fridge is permanent in car wire it direct to house battery.
Good on ya lads! Better then the big boys! Good down to earth content! Hats off to all of you! 🍻🍻🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
Awesome stuff guys .. big thumbs up
Did you guys do an install / set up video for that raspberry pi build? Looks awesome
Awesome video bros love your channel
Great set up boys
Sometimes lessons more when it comes to camping... All you need sometimes is just the bare nassitivies.
love the camping setup guys

You don't need a Anderson plug on the fridge google engle socket your engle cable can be screwed on its way better than Anderson plugs
Love that shower
Awesome video nice set up😁
good job mate
Most responsible campers look at a wet weekend come across a deep bog on the Trail and find somewhere else rather than choose to drive through and fuck it up for good
Always the best
Ya take a 30-06 up there it’s pretty isolated, ya know wild dogs lurk’n up there
What are wild dogs gonna do to them? And the 30-06 is way overkill for a dog, even a .223 is plenty.
Simple camping is the best camping 🏕 👍
Nice one, have you done a vid on how your raspberry pi setup works?
Aha I just got a 65L fridge for Christmas I’ve got a feeling it’s too big now yall only have 45Ls
Awesome stuff guys nice to see people just getting out there and having fun! you only really get to know what you need when you find you don't have it lol 😆
Shhh don’t tell my wife this.
I need the new canopy and redarc system with the new swag that I don’t need haha etc 😎
Use a engel plug the best thing ever
Is the patrol going to get a lick of paint in the future?
Maybe Raptor paint?
Thanks for sharing boys. Love the basic setup. I think people complicate camping by taking to much and having to much. Good job. How do you rate the XTM drawers?
Hey mate I’ve got one without the sliding top and it’s mint. Also lighter then 4wd super centres.
Really good, still slides like the day i bought it!
Hey lads just wondering what size is liams canopy is 👍
YesSiRr!! Nice & Easy ayyy.. Lol!! ... Mate... this some Awesome stuff. I Like it!! Lol! 👍👍👍& SuBB!! WoW!!
Nic work guys
Nice one guys👍🇳🇿🍻
enjoying your vids. Wondering what drone your using? keep up the good work.. Cheers
Just the older Mavic pro !
Jedi hand wave - ‘you don’t need the compressor for water’
It does feel a bit out of place in an otherwise simple setup
Love it lads ❤️❤️
Legend!
Whats the B12 Volt Board? Can you post a link to the product? Thanks. Great vid.
Agree absolutely. But the great outdoors have been overrun by lombards. Who don't seem to like getting outdoors.
hahahaaha , marketing people trying to get you to buy crap you don't really need.
Well said Sean. The fun goes with all the shit too - it becomes a hassle.
