Sometimes you listen to bigmacdavis play one of your favorite games and chill while doing something else. And you hear him say something like "jump onto the *left* pornographic magazine dispenser" that gets your attention
2:50 I remember when I first played this decades ago I thought the snack machine thing was such a cool idea and mechanic in the game. Spin cycle, the Rabid Transit cars and other areas in the game were awesome but something about this was pretty unique to me. :)
The music track for this level called 'Gotham' (you can imagine a Batman movie/game with this track) is aces! And the music for the next one is pretty good too!
That battlelord came out of nowhere, from behind, when I stepped a few, just a few, to the babes. Took almost all HP in a few sec, and make me run for my life behind the pillars. And then battlelord didn't stop, he was chasing me relentlessly. That was a real pain in the ass. So far the most painful part of my first walkthrough. IDK why the battlelord hides in such pleasant far-far spot in your variant. Anyway, that hell in this level boiled my blood, and it's cool, nevertheless. Noting about some secrets, another thumbs up incoming :)
Secrets: 2:28 - holoduke, 3:04 - chaingun cannon!, 4:19 - steroids, atomic health, devastator ammo. 6:26 - rpg ammo. (damn hard to spot what is in there in couple of frames :) ). 9:17 - 2x freezethrower ammo, rpg ammo, devastator weapon. 12:13 - 3x large medkit, 2x devastator ammo, rpg ammo. Non secrets: 1:50 - N.V. goggles, 2:49 - atomic health, 12:02 - devastator ammo Other: 3:21 - hidden sentry drone for a kill...
Please, don't forget to play episode 5, I really wish to hear your opinions on those new levels. As always great video, can't stop thinking how nice is to have you back after so many time
Trust me, I’m not just saying I’m not watching any other walkthroughs than yours Can’t wait for future videos ❤️ Hope you will do at least the official DLC’s like Duke it out in DC and Carrabiean life’s a beach
The other walkthroughs suck frankly. No disrespect to the ones who do them, but they tend to rush through the levels as if the whole thing's on a countdown timer that causes the map to explode if they slow down for a second. This makes it very difficult to learn what's going on, or get a proper sense of the map. BMD takes the time to point out interesting things, and explains his strategies as he goes along.
Aww, i remember playing this level in 1998-1999. I was really afraid to be smashed by that metro wagons. Much more than to be killed by that cruel aliens)

I remember first playing this level on the PC version, and I was BLOWN AWAY at how much different it was compared to the N64 version...it's like a completely different map! Fun Fact time yet again! In the N64 port, there is a chainlink fence that you can look through and you will see the start of the map "Red Light District" (Called "Gun Crazy" in the N64 version because censorship), and vice versa! Always found it kinda weird that the two levels were separated by such a wide margin of maps since they were basically nextdoor to each other XP
My favorite thing to do in Duke Nukem is switch to the Mighty Boot while pressing the designated "kick" button so that Duke is just bicycle kicking both feet at the same time while flying around like a maniac.
It's never a good thing to blow yourself up like that with the RPG. This level also has one of my favourite MIDIs in the game. It also works so well in Doom WADs. Which recording software are you using on this new PC? I recently started using Nvidia Shadowplay alongside with Bandicam and Fraps.
This new PC must have its own built-in recording software - but I have no idea what the name of it is. Whenever a game loads up a message appears on my screen to hold down "Windows Button + G" to start recording. I did that, edited its settings to record in 1080p, 60fps, and at 32000 bitrate, while using Audacity at the same time to record my voice. Then, I just combine my voice and the video in my editing software, and save in 28000 bitrate. Works great, methinks.
Oh yeah, this one. That's the Game Bar, that's included with Windows 10. You can also find its settings when you press the Start button, then go to Settings (the cog wheel icon), then select Gaming and on the left side you should see Game Bar.
6:40 you can save the babes but it's laborious, you need to shrink the battle lord that spawn in your back asap, then bait commander away from the babes down the stair and kill him, then shrink the second battle lord before he shoot anything somewhere stupid, but yeah it's trouble.
Well what a great way to start my morning. I have a two-hour commute by train to work each morning, the train is crowded, with people packed in like sardines and pretty stressful and unpleasant - so I get up a quite early and browse the net before I set off in order to try and get my mental state right. A BMD walkthrough is the perfect tonic. Nice job in the blue key area with the two Battlelords. That place can be damned tricky. I decided to replay Duke 3D in it's entirety for the first time since the late 90s. I've forgotten - and had to relearn - so much. So, now that you have such a slammin' PC - are we going to see you using the Duke 3D HD pack? :D I suspect not, because you prefer your games to look authentic, as they did when first released. Not like me, I like to pimp mine out with every high res texture, 3D model and dynamic lighting pack I can get my hands on heh.
Always loved you and your videos! Sadly I couldn't watch you for the past few months because of too much academic pressure. Anyway, I just wanted to ask about what did you take up for studying in your college?
I find it funny that shot at 5:55 ended up pushing you inside the moving wagon instead of in front of it or immediately behind, which AFAIR would also result in death.
They do. It's a map design flaw. In Duke Nukem 3D, if the floor is set to a different palette, all sprites in the room take it on (unless it's the default palette 0, in which case the sprites take on their own palette) - it allows for rooms with strong red or blue lights to paint everything inside the same colour. In that part of the subway, the walls have a palette set to change the blue tiles to green ones, but the floor is unnecessarily set to that palette as well, causing Duke's blue jeans to turn green. It also causes problems if you freeze an enemy, because they won't turn blue (although will still be frozen), hence as a map designer, you want to avoid setting the floor palette unless it's a dominant red or blue. I used to design Duke Nukem 3D maps, so I'm an annoying geek when it comes to the engine quirks!
1080p 60fps That's a FeelsGoodMan in my book 5:54 Better use Devastator for this part. 2 lucky moments I had in that red key area: 1. None of the babes died when I fired up an RPG rocket to blow up the canisters, hence no Octabrains. 2. A Commander OHK'd (One Hit Killed) a Battlelord (I was like "EXCUSE ME?!")
All right. BMD I am back for more DUKE NUKEM 3D and N64 differences. The first difference is the blue key door. So this map again seems to be bigger in N64 than on the PC. Another differnce is the train. In the PC version, the trains move in a circle around the map. In N64 there is only one train and it just goes from left to right. In the middle of the train track in the N64 version there is the red key door. And on the right side of the train there is another area that is not in the PC version. Its some toilets and a crack that you can blow up and go into another room with the red key I believe. And in the N64 version there are a few trains standing in the map. You can enter one of them for a secret. Yeah bigger than the PC map for sure. The rest of the map is pretty much the same as in the PC version. Very hard map with all the battlelords but a good Walkthrough again :) I did not know that you can push the snack machine to get an Atomic Health. So yes I learned something new :) Thank you and maybe you should play a little bit less with the rocket launcher. This will kill you someday :D
Cool! There was something I wanted to ask. What do you think of having a discord server? Would it even be ok with all the work you have in these walkthroughs?
I do that too. If you remember though, in E2M2 he said that he was aware of the exploit but he'd try not to use it. Personally I despise sentry drones and use it all the time.
60fps? Sort of. Duke is one of those games where, with modern source ports like 20th Anniversary, you get 60fps when moving / looking, since characters, items, effects like fire, and weapons are still sprites, it can only interpolate so much, that's how you get 60fps when looking and moving around, it's adding frames where they wouldn't be, guessing what you're doing. It's a trick :) No one says you couldn't have enough sprite animations to have sprites at 60fps, but, there's no way in hell devs had the resources for that back then.
Yeah the 1080p60fps is amazing to see in a video game like this. 3 battlelords, that's gotta hurt, lol. Don't want to blow yourself up with the RPG, that's never a good thing. It's too bad you can't save the babes in this level, that's always disheartening. Wow I never noticed the tell tale footprints message before, and always missed the 5th secret area which is indeed quite disturbing. Don't wanna get squished by the transit carts. Lots of supplies in this map, and backtracking for them is necessary to fill yourself back up. Excellent job with this level as usual buddy.

I missed 3 enemies and have no idea where. The secret area at the water spot did not have enforcers in it, but 1 spawned at the top of the stairs. Missed no secrets, confused I am.

Yeah, boy! Welcome to the 21st century! Sure are a lot of cops here, huh? Over-armed and over-aggro cops, at that. Awfully prescient... Play looks great. You getting anything done in between looking at every game you have on the new rig? Ha! Have fun.
It was confusing for me in this video game, where real life could mimic a game and make it even worse? I mean, humans are literally playing, it's just how their brain is organized and organizes itself by gaming with the environment, with its own structure, interconnections, peripherials - everything! Games IRL make humans making every other game they dedicate to be a game, not a real life. So these games do affect other life and… You know, when you once meet a subway of two stations and one train running in circles, don't say there's no reason for that.
Is it just me, or did I just hear the sound of an octobrain when you pressed the switch next to the galaxy screen at 9:38, and NOT see an octobrain? Strange. But I know for sure u had 100% kills.
Everyone's entitled to like or dislike something - maybe I said something offensive. What gets me confused is when a dislike appears within five minutes of publishing a video. I think to myself, "You didn't even watch it." ;D

that happened to me quite a few times
That's why I spent AS LITTLE time as possible around the damn things. Sucks to die to those.
HD, eh? To tell you the truth, I never really saw the difference. Commentary is what counts. But hey, if people wanted it, and it makes you happy, why not?
Line of the video: "Jump onto the left pornographic magazine dispense.":D
The enemies suck, luckily Duke Nukem is tough enough to kick his own ass by eating some delicious rockets for breakfast
OH!! BigMacDavis in HD
Yeah, boy! Welcome to the 21st century! Sure are a lot of cops here, huh? Over-armed and over-aggro cops, at that. Awfully prescient... Play looks great. You getting anything done in between looking at every game you have on the new rig? Ha! Have fun.
I barely have enough time to sleep, haha! But 'tis good, my friend! :D
Have you ever tried speed running ANY THING???
He speedran a Duke level once
Let's watch how deep does this rabid hole go!
Heh. Apparently just in a big circle.
Oh, I see clearly now. The designers of DN3D do like circles.
And an awfully confusing transit system in real life. Just a circle. And the train only makes two stops.
Did you upgrade your PC recently?
I sure did. It's awesome. :)
Yes!
:D
Never too close to use an RPG, right? :)
*YES! 1080p60!* Sometimes you scare me
Hey, sometimes I scare even myself! :)
:O that's not good!
5:55 hahahahahahahahahahaha hahahahahahaha............ Anyway, enjoyed the map.
Is it just me, or did I just hear the sound of an octobrain when you pressed the switch next to the galaxy screen at 9:38, and NOT see an octobrain? Strange. But I know for sure u had 100% kills.
Ah, yes, that's a very similar sound, it's just the sounds of engines or whatnot.
how much did chost the pc ?
Welcome back guys, it's BigMacDavis here unboxing a shrunked enforcer! Oh, wait, it's DoA… Sorry guys…
He either got squished or I didn't give him enough air holes. :)
Well yeah, that's one problem that comes with age. Sometimes it just stays shrunk like that and not ready stand up on command.
You didn't use your shotgun that time, so probably not enough air holes, surely.
Ok, what is there to dislike?
Why there is a dislike in the video?
Everyone's entitled to like or dislike something - maybe I said something offensive. What gets me confused is when a dislike appears within five minutes of publishing a video. I think to myself, "You didn't even watch it." ;D
@@BigMacDavis no it did not. Could be a bot or something .
When you are in moderately sized loyal community, you pick these things quickly.
