I signed up the 2 year plan and installed Nord. However I had to turn it off as my applications would shutdown randomly? What the heck. Anyone else have any issues?
THE SOLARISKIT SOLAR COLLECTOR !!! ( it looks modular, like you could just get one ) ....it's designed for heating hot tubs, but could offer Supplemental solar heat for your yacht. they use a 12 Volt pump, in the application they are designed for also, but you would have to think of the heat load end for it, ( an anti-freeze fluid to air heat exchanger, with a thermostatic fan, or a less compact copper tube coil in a convection duct ) then it's just a small amount of 12V pump energy, keeping it warm while you are away.....your PV panel could run the pump.....a larger tube diameter will use less pump energy.
SolarisKit is based in Scotland, you could work with them prototyping a yacht heating system. I think better sized as Supplemental heating.... but it would not require any heating fuel.
I'm a saliplane pilot, our passion are very different but I feel connected to yourvery 's . And as a know a lit bit about sailing I'm very admiring at your accomplishment .
Great video - thank you. Mr. Erik seems very casual with being tethered to the boat !! Especially outside the cockpit on a small boat in cold conditions. "Be Careful"
Great video. Looking forward to the next one. Intentionally setting sail despite the fact that nature may well give you a spanking is something that's lost on a lot of modern fair weather sailors. But there you are. Awesome!
Glad to see the new mast sliders working well for you! I worry about you Eric- that need for speed can sometimes result in over confidence an overestimation of one’s abilities. I learned that the hard way on a motorcycle when I very nearly killed myself going off a curve at high speed. Would have left 2 young children without a father. I still like fast boats and challenges but I stack the odds in my favor now rather than against me.
Erik. Your videos are simply breathtaking. THANK YOU for this one! I am crossing the North Sea in August, on a 65ft boat so much larger than Tessie, still those waves ending this video made be a bit nervous. Vind i seglen och fortsätt med vad du gör, åter tack!! /David
This is what i love about sailing. "The adventure and everything is up to yourself to adapt to, and the situation changes all the time" Love your videoes.
Fantastic video Eric ,you are certainly pushing the boundary's on this trip I have been in the Orkneys in winds of 50 mph bad enough walking let alone sailing in them , looking forward to your next video 👍.
Couldn’t believe when you said 14 08 crops up everywhere including Silje’s birthday - It’s Lucy, my wife’s birthday too! We both love following all your adventures 😊
The All Father is getting much pleasure out of you tearing through the sea! No Valhalla for you anytime soon. More Viking warrior sailing videos please!
Thanks Erik. What a great record of a fantastic sail. Can't wait for your return journey. I love your heavy weather sailing, but I'm at home with the heating on.... Stay safe.
Hello Eric, Nice to see you again braving the North Sea with all of your determination, alone, all my respect. I just see video from Patrick Laine in Ireland, Sam Holmes in Greece, and Jaqueline ( sailing loveworkx)in Marqueese Island on her circumnavigation Respect for all of you sailing alone
One of the best sailing channels. Certainly my favourite. I spend as much time enjoying each moment of your adventure as I do freeze framing and absorbing the details of your boat and its rig. 🙏🇨🇦 PS. 1408 is the tile of a horror movie with John Cussack and Samuel L Jackson. It’s just a movie. It’s just a number.
Amazing adventure, NBJS suits this episode. 1202 is my number. Just seems to pop up. I'm certain other numbers show up with frequency but this is the number my mind captures.

I was thinking that you get rid of the seasickness when you sail a lot. I dont sail myself. It was something i never thought. Thank you for sharing your adventures with us.
What a great video and a great Celebration! I can now understand why you were so determined to get there and I’m so happy to have been able to see it… 🍀
Outstanding! Best passage making video on YT!!! When you get a chance, can you give us your review of the Zhik foulies and how they compare to your old HH gear?
Well, Tessie seems in top shape with her rebuild and the ease in which you maneuvered her sails. That was some excellent footage of the festival, and you standing amidst all the festivities was an added visual bonus. I can’t speak for others, but the clip with the bagpipes and everyone’s enthusiasm in participation really gives me a feel for the Viking celebration, and the pride you feel in all of it. This is your gift to us, Erik, your excellence in story telling. In only so many words, you outlined your need to be included in this continuation of recognition for your heritage. No UA-cam channel tells stories better! The sea sickness has to be pretty tough, though, no? Instead of chocolate, maybe try ginger chews? They are supposed to calm your belly. I don’t know. I’ve never tried them nor had a reason to. Nice to see Silje helping you shove off, and making the very smart choice to stay behind. 😊❤ So, episode one out of the way. Will we be waiting another month for episode 2? Funny, I was under the impression you didn’t set out with the intention of returning in the same trip. Well, love is, in its own way, probably the most unpredictable and strongest force of nature. 🤗👍💯 For sure, it makes us do crazy things sometimes. Looking forward to this next ga -narly adventure, even if it is terrifying, Take care!
Great video of a great adventure Eric. I love your stuff and worth the trip for the Viking festival. It looks like a great night. I have a 36 foot mast head cutter rigged sloop similar to yours and I tend to get down to the staysail fairly early early say 20 knots and wrap the big genoa up nice and tight and put some extra ties on it in case the furling line breaks. The fact that your leeward cap shroud and lower lower were so slack is indicative of the load that the mast head genoa puts on the rig even when it is furled in a bit. Grest sail though and well done. 🐟
Wonderful video! I'm here in the north Pacific - well, northern California anyway - restoring my 1980 Finnfire 33 (10 meter cutter rig from Finnland) with dreams of making a sail like you document so well here in this video. Well done!!!
Thanks Erik!! Saying HI from Cape Cod in Massachusetts. As always your videos are so much fun to watch! Like you say it's no BS just damn good sailing! You stay calm and collected all the time! I bet Celia was happy to see you though!
In Lithuanian having hip number 2 done so hopefully I can start sailing again. First came across your UA-cam Chanel when I was having number one hip done now I just can’t wait for a new notification. Fair winds for Greenland.
Nothing better than sailing in January against the waves having the cold wind and water splashing on your face to make you feel alive and ready for the Viking Festival.🎉 🍻🍻
Good for you mate, experience all your dreams before family starts to take precedence. Stare into the maw of the beast and casually flip it the finger. Got balls and skills. Fair dinkum sailing brother. 👍
Tussen takk , I hope to be sailing in the Scottish Western Isles soon as I can get my standing rigging done. Then sail across to Lerwick one year for the festival.
1408 is also a horror movie - quite good one! I don't have a certain number, but often look at the clock and it say 22.22, or 09.09 or something like that :)
Erik, you should probably sail south, you have sailed to English territory several times, your girlfriend may be not accustomed to the North Sea ! Please be considerate to the wonderful girl that you are with! We never drank at sea, even when I was in the Royal Navy sailing team! Actually, with over $100k of sponsorship, good luck to you both and much love ❤️
You are the extreme of the sailing channels. Been in the North Sea and the Irish Sea.. Awesome dude! Seriously. And your woman, viking- her own without doubt. Thanks for being vulnerable. Kicking ass NBJS!
Hah! In 1408 Thorstein Olaffsen marries Sigrid Bjornsdatter in Hvalsey Church in the last recorded event of the Norse history of Greenland. And nice fast cruising with one reef in the main sail !🎉

@@jganderpnw I'm from continental Europe, you know, fast cars, public alcohol, public swearing. If you don't like it, too bad.
Top notch story, filming, narrating and editing!!! Great job Erik!! Thank you!!
Can't wait to see part two.... what an adventure once again! Keep it up!
I LOVE that Quote!! "The spirit of ADVENTURE is more CONVINCING than being RATIONAL"
if you waited for good weather to adventure, you'll be waiting forever and never adventure.

Those cliffs at 19:45 are really stunning!
Girlfriend says:" be carefull" Erik answers:" yes I will" and leaves, to sail on the the North sea in wintertime by himself.😯
Hey, he waited to drink Scotch until he was within sight of land! That counts for something!
Nice sailing is my favorite. The 3 AM to 6 or 7 Am is the best, getting to see the sunrise offshore makes up for the the wet and lack of sleep.
as soon as i heard the Norse accent, i was invested in the video
I think Erick is a son of Odin. He protects him from himself. The music is divine.😊
We should all protect ourselves from ourselves. set the ego aside.
Great video - thank you. Mr. Erik seems very casual with being tethered to the boat !! Especially outside the cockpit on a small boat in cold conditions. "Be Careful"
Some of the best content on UA-cam.
Thank You Erik!
Went om a Roadtrip Winther My son to NORWAY. You were the only reason -we stoppede by Haugesund. You age a legent. Love from Denmark.
Great video, it always terrifies me seeing you up on the deck without a tether. But I remember you mentioning it in a previous video :>
As an American with distant Norwegian heritage- something about your videos bridges that gap. Keep it up Erik, safe travels
what an amazing video, Erik!
Thank you!!
Great video. Looking forward to the next one. Intentionally setting sail despite the fact that nature may well give you a spanking is something that's lost on a lot of modern fair weather sailors. But there you are. Awesome!
The true meaning of NBJS :-) Just one guy and a boat - my favourite kind of sailing! Glad you made it there and back! Amazing inspiration - stay safe!

Great video, but no lifelines or lifejacket when on deck?
What a plonker. I wondered if that was just for the camera.......

Amazing brother, I must admit it…am addicted to your kind of sailing, I see your skills and eagerness to learn at the same time. Keep it up.
Hats off to Erik, from east coast of Scotland, for his balls of steel!
Erik, a great video. Next year we want to see you dancing 😂❤

Sail on!

Good going Erik. Remember to trim your head sail. Move the track car back to flatten and remove the sail creases.
Erik, you have no fear brother. I love your stories and you have such a passion for your heritage.
Thank you Mike! Yes we have to pay our respect to our great ancestors!

Great product placement for Rolly Tasker Sails🤑🤑
So I've been following you for over a year and that is the first time I ever had a glimpse of your engine. Good looking motor I must say...
Add to bucket list; sail to Shetland for Up-helly-aa the last Tuesday of January. Spend a few days recovering then on to Norway. Tok tok
Excellent video Eric. Love watching your adventures. The Contessa 35 is a great yacht… and looks after you so well. Look forward to second episode.
Another great video Erik, fantastic story telling.

Great Video! It mennust be so challenging to video when the seas rise up! You run the gammit between festival and Valhalla! Bravo!
Incredible, exciting, and a total adventure for us armchair sailors to share. Thank you so much for this wonderful video.
Thanks Erik!! Saying HI from Cape Cod in Massachusetts. As always your videos are so much fun to watch! Like you say it's no BS just damn good sailing! You stay calm and collected all the time! I bet Celia was happy to see you though!

Love how easily you can get to Shetland!
You’re a madman! What an adventure. I just did my very first sail 2 days ago. 86 Nmi from Sechelt BC to Nanaimo. Loving it.
In Lithuanian having hip number 2 done so hopefully I can start sailing again. First came across your UA-cam Chanel when I was having number one hip done now I just can’t wait for a new notification. Fair winds for Greenland.

Great video! Thumbs up for RNLI mention.
