    Can think of several people this would be an excellent gift for. Having the book included was smart. Price is very good, no having to hunt down any missing or out of stock pieces.

      @@MOS6510Models from a marketing/retail perspective, very overdue in the modeling business. This is the kind of thing would have exploded at beginning of lockdown era. Whether you use Mig's or AK's, Tamiya or Humboldt's, it's smart and a trend very much needed in the business.

    An interesting item for the bench. The magazine is perfect for getting better at painting and weathering.

    Hi Mos, You might already know this but DW-K was part of 610 County of Chester Squadron based out of Hawkinge during the battle of Britain, I grew up up and played on that airfield, giving away my age now.....

    • @MOS6510Models
      @MOS6510Models  2 роки тому

      Thats fantastic.. I was also told the K was because of Pilot Officer John Kerr Wilson who was killed in action 1940 before the battle of britain.. then flown by others.. no idea if this is true or not..

    I have to say I am an Ammo lover, I bought the Metallic details solution box and found it to be excellent value for money although it is a good chunk of change to buy.

    Looks a great set for someone just starting out and has everything you need in one box. A kit, some glue, and this would be a fantastic gift set. The book also looks worth having to and they even add some masking foam that doubles as packaging. Have tried that primer but even with a 0.4 needle it is a struggle to use it.

    • @MOS6510Models
      @MOS6510Models  2 роки тому +1

      What do you use normally? if i'm honest my main go to is tamiya, humbrol and Mr Color primers in a spray cans.. just because its a primer and not worth the time and effort of pushing it thru an airbrush to then have to clean it..

    • @glencwilson
      @glencwilson 2 роки тому

      @@MOS6510Models Vallejo primers are Ok but I find you do need to give them time. Tamiya cans are good too and go along way. For big things like 1/16 tanks pound shop plastic primer works. Not really found anything I truly love though.

    Me myself and I use a variety of paint manufacturers hataka, revell, humbrol, tamiya exctale (hannants) and even Halfords rattle cans . As weathering goes it ump washes and abtulong oils have peaced together over the last few years but still nick daughter's art stuff now and again

    • @MOS6510Models
      @MOS6510Models  2 роки тому +1

      Ive bought a huge range of hataka paints recently.. loving them but find you have to use their thinners for it to run smooth thru the airbrush

    This sets are extremely expensive putting much more products than what I really need to do a wonderful model.

  • @Andy.Gledhill.Models.

    I have often thought about buying these Solution Boxes. But in the end I decided not to. They are quite expensive. I would probably not use half the stuff you get in the box. But the main reason I would not get one is because the paint bottles are quite small. You would easily run out of the 3 main colours if you were doing something like a 1/32 scale Spitfire. Or what about doing a Airfix 1/24 scale Hurricane. You would definitely need more paints. You can buy the book on its own. That maybe a better option.

    • @randomnickify
      @randomnickify 2 роки тому

      It's a starter set, once you run out you can buy bigger refills and the "uselles" stuff tends to be useful surprisingly often :)

      I think as you develop and hone your skills you get a feel of what works for you..

      @@randomnickify Its not a starter set. Its supposed to give you everything to paint and weather a British WW2 Aircraft. But, what if you are doing large scale. You will need more paints. It would have been better, had it had 2 of each of the main colour paints in the pack.

    Lots of goodies, but old school is cheaper and just as effective.

    Not sure about these. If they are aimed at a beginner, is a beginner really going to try weathering. I personally think they are a bit overpriced and Ammo paints are the one brand I really struggle with. Still a good idea though.

    • @MOS6510Models
      @MOS6510Models  2 роки тому +2

      I think the book is aimed at beginners to weathering, not modelling per se. Thats the impression I got.. To be honest i think some people over paint and weather the planes.. I do agree with you that this is not a set for the beginners of modelling, and i would rather use Hataka paints overall.. I will try out Mig's paints when i start on my next spitfire
