Even my local YMCA has a sauna and I love going there after a workout or swim. No cold plunge. What I love here is Louis CK pushing back against the whole extreme body optimization racket. Every commercial on every podcast is some kind of supplement, or powder or pill or whatever. It is for men what instagram is for women. I’m all for being healthy but this over the top BS deserves some criticism. Kuddos to Louis CK for saying what many of us think but can’t say in such a funny way.
The irony is they are trying to recreate primitive conditions. Its our modern world which has become so unnatural. Thats the point Joe should have hit back with, he missed it.
Extreme? I get some Might think cold plunging is extreme but I feel like that’s just your opinion. Sauna and cold plunging has been life changing to many including me. So let’s not spout opinions, when there is science behind it. It’s not for everyone and it shouldn’t be pushed on others I agree
I'm kind of with Louis on this one. I have an obsessive personality and I ruin things I enjoy by going to hard. Like turning videogames into math equations in an effort to be as efficient as possible. I end up burnt out, wondering why I enjoyed it so much before.
It's so weird to see people base who is the better comic simply by popularity. I promise Joe Rogan is so low tier when it comes to comedy, yet his podcast is so successful that people connect that with his stand-up. Louie's level of comedy is so superior to Joe's in so many ways. It's honestly not even close. Joe takes himself way too seriously, and his comedy is so pedestrian that more people can connect on a base level. But Louie's comedy has layers. Joe is so popular because he was one of the first to really lean into podcasts and his MMA. He is not known for his comedy. Literally go watch a Joe Rogan stand-up right now, any of them. If you give a legitimate laugh at any moment I will take back all I say. lol
Ya definitely (and I’m not a Joe Rogan fan) but give him credit for maximizing every moment. As Louis points out with Theo von, Joe Rogan had a presence and confidence. That led to talk radio. He did fear factor to bank 30 million. Then he saw an opportunity with UFC and went 100%. So ya he’s pedestrian in his talent, but he’s 1000% in his work effort. And hard work trumps almost everything
The real question is why would you feel so compelled to leave a negative comment at all. Joe does have some funny bits whether you want to admit it or not. I mean he tours with Dave Chappelle, so is Chapelle just a sell out that wants to tour with someone popular? Or is it possible that Dave Chappelle thinks Joe is funny? Does one of the greatest stand up comedians of all time have garbage taste in comedy?
out of the entire 3 hrs podcast this conversation stood out a lot to me. louis is so right about how people having meaningless talk when you step back and look at them from ouside. and people shouldn't be that harsh on rogan becuase everybody is wrong at some point, we've all been there.
Bruh he has a net worth of 300+ you really think he gives a fuck if he’s right or wrong ? 😂 that’s the whole point of this video. He’s removed from reality and argues shit that literally will never affect him cause he’s rich af
They're both right. Louis is saying that the work you put into optimizing gameplay ruins the game, and Joe finds that the work to optimize the gameplay gives the game meaning.
@Jurica Dogan no the real woosh is that Joe still thinks buying a sauna is achievable for a normal person. Most people rent, and cannot even buy a sauna. Joe doesn't realize how out of touch he actually is, and louis is showing Joe that even the conversation is rediculous because most humans (even most americans) will never have easy access to a sauna. What Joe finds as conversation isn't at all relatable to a normal humans experience, and it was silly to compare it to being able to buy and wear shoes.
@@BenderTheBoileryou can be healthy and fit without having a sauna or a expensive ass cold plunge but if you walk around saying making things harder for myself is boring you are not going to get anywhere and will never see the real benefits of being disciplined and healthy... it doesn't happen overnight.

I did that in Norway. Cooked in a sauna, then ran and jumped in a frozen swimming pool! I swam faster than at any other time of my life and jumped out. Never again.
I love it when rich people dismiss regular people's financial limitations. Rogan defensive because Louis pointed out that cold plunges and Saunas are not attainable for most people.

I downloaded Spotify just to listen to this episode and I really recommend hearing all of it, its sooo good. They go on forever with no lulls and no forced change of subject because its getting stale or whatever its just great and really engaging, they have so much in common. My favorite part was when they were talking about being a comic in the 90s in new york and how free they felt.

@@lyricahm3370 right lol. I'm not POOR-poor, but I am certainly not middle class, and I have salmon pretty regularly. Is it the cheapest thing in the world? No, but it's like $8/lb for Coho salmon at Aldi, which for me is 3-4 meals worth. 3 lb bag of frozen vegetables is $2. 2 lb bag of brown rice is $2.
Everything Rogan does to accumulate wealth is based on other people seeking escapes from there own lives. People choose to listen to him having conversations with others, they choose to listen to him try and be funny, they choose to watch other people fight......If everyone was content and able to be satisfied with there own lives, own goals and aspirations, they wouldn't waste there time watching others do it. Being in awe of celebs is something ive never understood. The few times ive seen some in public it didnt do anything to me. Just said oh i recognize that celeb and moved on about my business.
I think Joe is someone that is always asking questions and looking to find better answers then the ones we were given by the older generation. Louis on the other hand, is a cynic. Sure Joe goes hard into his hobbies and he's been doing it for years so what he's doing is immediately unattainable for many. But that doesn't mean it's unrealistic or one shouldn't try to better their life
I’m with Joe here, cold plunges don’t have to be expensive and in a world filled with consumerism, screens and addiction, taking a cold shower or plunge can make you feel great and that doesn’t have to be put into the context of a political bubble of any sort. These tools are accessible to most people and in Scandinavia their whole culture revolves around these practices. Saying it’s ‘not reality’ makes no sense. We should not ridicule people for improving their mental and physical health
Finally Louis is saying what a lot of us are thinking. As a rich person it's fine for you to talk about rich things. You also need to know that 75-95% of the world's population isn't in your tax bracket and don't have the same luxuries as you do. A lot of people are working multiple jobs, and barely making bills and are making hard choices like food or electricity, and can only dream of a gym membership let alone their own personal home gym with sauna and cold plunge. Everything in Joe's life is taken care of, his mortgage, bills, savings, retirement, plus his kids college tuitions, insane job security, access to nearly unlimited resources at work and outside of work has access to the best of the best and often given for free just to be sponsored by him/featured in a post. I like Joe, but there's times him and other stars begin to be a bit delusional about the world around them.
As a Finnish person its so strange when they talk about sauna and having money to have one or go there, im poor broke but we have saunas here everywhere and i go to one several times a week, the little payment that it costs 5e for month 2 times per week is included in the rent and if i dont want to pay that i just call some of my frends and go to sauna there, and cold plunges is like you drill a hole in ice and thats costs nothing, is tough work tough. Also wery strange when Rogan says that he doesnt enjoy being in sauna, its the best place in the world.
"Being healthy is better than being sick." It's with such cogent insights that Joe Rogan has staked out his place in the infosphere as a leading light among the educationally sub-normal.
Louis is so grounded these days😂 His cancellation really humbled him😂 But it’s 100% true that Joe is out of touch with reality with some of these things.
Alternating between extremes is not "moderation". Moderation is having a couple of spoons of ice cream a day, or a glass of wine, not binging a bucket or drinking yourself senseless once a month or so.
Yeah I don’t think the guy hanging drywall all day is concerned that his cold shock proteins and his heat shock proteins are not in balance. Rogan’s job is sitting around in a custom building with all his favorite toys, getting stoned and drunk and eating mushrooms with his buddies…. that is literally his job and he gets paid millions of dollars to do it. It’s amazing given how fucked up the world is and how terrible most folks in the world have it that that life is even a possibility, let alone a reality for someone.
One of the easiest thing you can do for maintaining mental health is meditation. And all that is is exercising focus. Whether it be on prayer or mantra or even an image in your head. If you can distract yourself from idle thinking a little bit, that could be very beneficial. It's also free
Sauna + ice swimming is one of the best feelings I know! Welcome to Finland, we have plenty of saunas here. In here it's not luxury, it's just what we do.
I love Louis CK's reply to Rogan having his ego bruised about an actual "regular Joe's" comment on saunas. Yes it is healthier to do certain things, but it's also inconvenient and expensive if your life is already filled with other challenges. We can work harder and compete against each other to achieve such material things, but like should it be that hard? Just take a cold shower or work up a sweat and deep inhale steam. 😂
Anyone else feel fine no matter what they do? I spent my life eating junk and felt fine. Started doing healthy eating, felt fine. Started doing cold plunges and the works, felt fine. Worked out, felt fine. Stopped working out, felt fine. Felt fine as a night owl and fine as an early bird. I always feel good and can’t relate to “feeling like garbage after spaghetti”. The only thing that makes me feel bad is disappointing my kids, then after they get over it I feel fine.
I hit the gym almost everyday when I get off work but I do have to take some days off . It definitely helps me from getting depressed. My diet though isn't great and I need to do better.
You definitely don't need to be above the food chain to get into cold plunges and saunas.... some people live paycheck to paycheck just to pay for their gym memberships. It's literally in the same realm. You can buy a cold plunge for 120$ online (not one that stays cold obviously but it's doable) And you can go to a gym that has a sauna. These are still REALLY affordable things, you just need to have the desire to better yourself in any way possible, which most people don't do.
Something not many people consider as well is that we live in a very different time than our late ancestors. Not defending any side but in a lot of instances, modern problems require modern solutions.
So correct! I forget how awesome it feels to not drink alcohol, not eat out, staying active actually is the best feeling!!! It’s so easy to get out of the routine after life altering events. But yea you do forget how awesome all the hard work feels.
Joe high key right and Louis is coping by means of the lowest common denominator. While most people don’t have the money to buy a cold plunge or a sauna, most people have access to hot water and a closed bathroom door or access to a cold bathtub and a bag of ice. It’s all cops to protect his ego about his inability to be healthy. He is right about his points that he makes but I believe he is missing the larger ideology of a healthy indulgent free living. Think for yourselves people, Joe didn’t create the lifestyle, he adopted it.
The next step is to remember Joe thinks Bill Gates is a hard working genius Check out "my chicken has a psychiatrist" also from this jrexperience w Louis
Reminds me of uncles teds point on surrogate activities, when people no longer worry about their survival, they set up activities to have artificial goals to fill fulfilled. See industrial society and its future, chapter 40
I put a heater in my grow tent which cost $99 let it get hot then sit in it. Homemade cheap ass sauna, and just fill up your tub with cold water, buy a $3 bag of ice. It's not expensive or hard if you have a brain

That was interesting, Louis was pointing out that their lives are so far removed from the average mans life that it's ridiculous, but Joe doesn't seem to be able to see that. I think Joe still likes to see himself as a "common man" but hasn't really realised that his success in life has slowly shifted him away from a common life and that the things he does on a daily basis are pretty extreme to the average guy and not something we could see or imagine ourselves being able to do.
Its all relevant i think, in America the average 'joe' is living in a bubble compared to someone in a 3rd world country... I do feel Joe got somewhat triggered by what Loui was trying to point out
@@adanperez648 To me, as an outsider, it's not the USA that sees itself as the centre of the world, but California. Literally cannot stand some of the shit they believe in or even discuss.

We do the back breaking labor to provide the workforce and resources neccessary to barely feed our family while the corperate workers and Business men in metropolitan areas are vastly overpaid and absorb any profits the companies see straight into their pockets instead of supporting their workforce.
Yeah Joe was like "A sauna and plunge pool isnt like a lambo" just proving the point that he is so far removed as the price of a sauna and plunge could be the equivalent of what a lambo means to him(budget wise) for some people

One of the reasons I love Louis CK so much is I feel like our brains work in the same way when it comes to comedy and philosophical ideas. SO many times I have been watching him and have been yelling "yes! thats exactly how I think!". This is yet another time where I have thought the same thing as him.
Joe’s dopamine addiction is being questioned when Louis he said ice plunges are ridiculous..
"Well, if your not getting eaten by Tiger's yes."
Or living wage to wage or even less. 😄
This convo is actually Louis CKs entire theme of his comedy. We have lost the understanding of what a human experience is. At least for 99.999999% of our species' existence. The crazy shit we are experiencing now probably won't last. If it does, we better start evolving fast.
Humans used to bathe in cold streams.
Right?
Or no you are right, the ancients probably had showers and modern plumbing my bad.
@@ivywoodxrecords They bathed to cleanse themselves out of necessity. They didn't find the coldest water to plunge in because of some broscience theory.
@@therivergivethyour right but they were also outside 90% of the time in harsh conditions... is it really that bad making things harder for yourself while living in such an easy time??
Even my local YMCA has a sauna and I love going there after a workout or swim. No cold plunge. What I love here is Louis CK pushing back against the whole extreme body optimization racket. Every commercial on every podcast is some kind of supplement, or powder or pill or whatever. It is for men what instagram is for women. I’m all for being healthy but this over the top BS deserves some criticism. Kuddos to Louis CK for saying what many of us think but can’t say in such a funny way.
Louis CK has never looked healthy in his whole career . Basically a pizza-eating funny man , even on his own sitcom
The irony is they are trying to recreate primitive conditions. Its our modern world which has become so unnatural. Thats the point Joe should have hit back with, he missed it.
Extreme? I get some
Might think cold plunging is extreme but I feel like that’s just your opinion.
Is it weird i find maxxing out and making everything as efficient as possible the fun in life? Or am i mentally unhealthy im so confused man 😂
It's so weird to see people base who is the better comic simply by popularity.
If you give a legitimate laugh at any moment I will take back all I say. lol
I share the same opinion that Joe's comedy sucks and he tricked the public.
@@topchoicerollzroyce1181 It really is *shite.*

They're both right. Louis is saying that the work you put into optimizing gameplay ruins the game, and Joe finds that the work to optimize the gameplay gives the game meaning.
@@NextExiter Yes, but this will be a big "woosh" for our buddy, Matt, here.

I think Joe is someone that is always asking questions and looking to find better answers then the ones we were given by the older generation. Louis on the other hand, is a cynic. Sure Joe goes hard into his hobbies and he's been doing it for years so what he's doing is immediately unattainable for many. But that doesn't mean it's unrealistic or one shouldn't try to better their life
Facts 😅
I’m with Joe here, cold plunges don’t have to be expensive and in a world filled with consumerism, screens and addiction, taking a cold shower or plunge can make you feel great and that doesn’t have to be put into the context of a political bubble of any sort. These tools are accessible to most people and in Scandinavia their whole culture revolves around these practices. Saying it’s ‘not reality’ makes no sense. We should not ridicule people for improving their mental and physical health
Louis is a patient man.
What exactly does heating and cold plunging do for you anyway? I think people think 'it's intense and uncomfortable', so it must be good for you.
Alternating between extremes is not "moderation". Moderation is having a couple of spoons of ice cream a day, or a glass of wine, not binging a bucket or drinking yourself senseless once a month or so.
Louis is making great points and Joe just isn’t having it.

Thank god someone called Joe out
Anyone else feel fine no matter what they do? I spent my life eating junk and felt fine. Started doing healthy eating, felt fine. Started doing cold plunges and the works, felt fine. Worked out, felt fine. Stopped working out, felt fine. Felt fine as a night owl and fine as an early bird. I always feel good and can’t relate to “feeling like garbage after spaghetti”. The only thing that makes me feel bad is disappointing my kids, then after they get over it I feel fine.
First 30 seconds are the most important part of this conversation
if sauna feels bad to you, you have ZERO clue how to sauna properly.
Thank god for people like Louis CK who call people out like Joe on some of their ridiculous over the top bullshit!!
I hit the gym almost everyday when I get off work but I do have to take some days off . It definitely helps me from getting depressed. My diet though isn't great and I need to do better.
I see both of their points
You definitely don't need to be above the food chain to get into cold plunges and saunas.... some people live paycheck to paycheck just to pay for their gym memberships. It's literally in the same realm.
You can buy a cold plunge for 120$ online (not one that stays cold obviously but it's doable)
And you can go to a gym that has a sauna. These are still REALLY affordable things, you just need to have the desire to better yourself in any way possible, which most people don't do.
The tigers should be metaphors, Joe.
And no, many...most...have not figured out how to get away from them. I know I havent.
I just love the way Louis wasn't feeding the bullshit and how Joe completely misses the point that he laid out beautifully.

So correct! I forget how awesome it feels to not drink alcohol, not eat out, staying active actually is the best feeling!!! It’s so easy to get out of the routine after life altering events. But yea you do forget how awesome all the hard work feels.
Joe’s curiosity is definitely his strong suit, but his thoughts on masculinity are on par with a teenage boy with a napoleon complex.
The stereoids doesn't help.
Don't forget how attracted he is to masculinity.
4:22-4:35 could be the last line of his show
Joe high key right and Louis is coping by means of the lowest common denominator.
