A noter que la notion "Nach Osten" (vers l'est) n'est pas à prendre dans le sens du pangermanisme ou de la recherche de l'espace vital. Les mouvements de jeunesse allemands, influencés par le nationalisme révolutionnaire, organisaient des marches, des évènements à l'est du reich car ils considéraient que c'était les terres et le peuple le moins corrompu par la décadence occidentale.
pour la majorité des français ces mouvements de jeunesse allemandes sont assimilés aux jeunesses hitlériennes sur la forme ils portent des uniformes des drapeaux, ils font des marches il chantent
@KlimSanguine - thank you very much for this explanation. I was wondering what the meaning of marching to the east meant. And what you say makes a lot of sense. These boys were yes, proud of their heritage, but were looking for the experience of being out of their progressively industrializing Western civilization. They were looking to experience the romantic perception of life and nature, as best as I can understand it after having recently read about the Wandervogel. They were not interested in conquest or war. These were the products of the social structures they were wanting to escape from. The east of Germany, if I am not mistaken, was then certainly more open to nature. Pardon me speaking in English, but I am American. And I did not want to try and translate to German and leave the impression that I was German.
