A few months ago I started painting at the age of 61 and discovered your channel. Thank you so much for giving your all to help us novices. I’m still struggling to let go when I start a new painting but watching your videos encouraged me to loosen up and like you said “you can always paint it over!” A wise advice - a rarity in life to have that chance. Only when I paint I get to do it! BTW, I have been trying to scale up my painting and gave up because the canvas seemed so BIG so this video was so apt! I will try again tomorrow. Thanks!
Good for you getting started and working on your painting skills🎨 And yes I wish we got to paint things over in other areas in life too, wouldn’t that be nice. Thanks for watching Jocelyn 🌻🌻
Once again a lovely and calming painting....you can do no wrong as far as I’m concerned... your tutorials are clear, precise and easy to follow.... it makes me want to paint. Thank you so much.
Thank you for your videos and on this one, I learned a new tip of using my palette knife to make a straight line - brilliant! I would suggest on your videos that you quickly make a comment about what colors you are using, especially when making neutrals. Mange tak!
Hi Karen and thanks for your suggestion! For more details on the colors they are listed in the description under each video. Click on "show more" below the video to see the text. If you are watching from a phone/tablet click on the little arrow under the video to read more.
Thank you for all your videos! You gave me the motivation to give a try to acrylics painting, your loose style is just stunning, you make things look easy to paint (it's really not!). I have no artistic background, but a couple of years ago I started watercolour, for some reasons I stopped after a year. Discovering your channel made me think again about trying out acrylics, but I still have to push myself to give me the courage to do something. But thank you anyway for the inspiration!
i want to switch from using watercolors to your methods of acrylics with my high school students! i am practicing now, and kindly ask if you can sometimes mention what colors you are applying. i have difficulty discerning the darker blues and grays and blacks. i think your way of painting is going to greatly increase their fun and sense of satisfaction in their work, and we will not be slaves to a photo or copying someone else's work. Thank you for your being so clear in your teaching.
Hello painters😊 Today I have a seascape painting for you. Last weekend I was fortunate to be able to the beach. As I always do when I’m at the seashore I got refreshed and inspired. And of cause I had to go home and paint a seascape 🌤🌊🌊 ►► My ONLINE COURSE www.danishpainter.com
I just stumbled upon your channel and I must say that I love your style! This is exactly the kind of style I want to develop, not so rigid to reality but free, fun & expressive. I get so inspired to paint and practice! Thank you for yor work. Blessings.
Thank you for another wonderful, informative video! Your work is so loose and beautiful-I LOVE this simple but so expressive color palette. I just realized that you re-use your tape. I am going to start doing that as well. Not only enviromentally thoughtful, but I expect it also helps greatly in reducing surface damage when you take it off. I always stick mine to an old sweater first to reduce the tack, and it still damages the paper. I'm curious what sketchbook (size and brand) you use for your reference paintings as well as for the work here.
Hi Laurie. Yes I reuse the tape exactly for those reasons; less damage to the paper, reduce trash and saves money. I know it might be a bit distracting to see the paint from previous paintings but I actually prefer it to the bright yellow color that is has when it is brand new. The small sketch is painted in a Daler Rowney A4 Ebony Artist sketchbook. 109lb/160gram paper. The large paper is 200gram A3 Cartridge paper by Ryman. Both sketch pads are spiral bound which I prefer so that I can open it up completely.
Again another beautiful composition. What is your favourite type of landscape to paint? I always seem to be going back to seascapes, there's something about them!
I too seem to gravitate towards seascapes. And of cause there is the allure of clouds. I don't think I'll ever get tired of painting the shifting light in clouds and water.
Dear Marie Louíse, Double great.) To b hones, I like the smaller one better because it's a kind of fresher and especially the three bright marks in the lower front are catching. Thanks anyway. All the best, uk.)
I can't believe I missed this one :/ well, it's been an extremely stressful morning...one of those everything that can go wrong does...and I have to drive about an hour to my least fave doc appt and needed a bit of beauty and calm and I your videos are always calming and I LOVE this one. This was perfect. Now off to get some music going in the car to help me keep my head together :) Thanks for this :) just gorgeous!!❤🥰❤🥰
Thank you right back. The process on canvas is essentially the same as on paper. Only difference is that a larger canvas takes many days and sometimes weeks. But I would definitely like to show that sometime in the future.
Very beautiful work. Can you please show us how you would do the same paintings in bigger canvas? I am very eager to see and learn from you :) Thank you!!
Hi Jina and thanks for the lovely feedback :) The process on canvas is essentially the same as on paper. Only difference is that a larger canvas takes many days and sometimes weeks. I would definitely like to show that in a future video. Thanks for watching!
hI AGAIN. question important. I bought a bunch of daniel smith watercolor what is your opionion of mixing the wc with a gloss or matt medium or with titanium white. I am just 11 days painting now and i have been using the water color paper with a gloss medium wash first and thats working nice. I also did a watercolor wash first then a spray fixative then acrylic on top. I didnt think i would like acrylic but i got into a rut with watercolor after 6 months and hobbylobby had a half price store brand sale so i got a set of 18 and a set of six neon and a set of six metallic. Having fun . I made some brushes from hog bristle that work nice and polycarbonate tools like scrapers and a knife edge. I hope you see this and have some advice I am at wits end trying to find best breed acrylic paint. I want to goto dickblick tomorrow and get a core set of procolors I am thinking from golden. I got a set of winser newtom galeria student grade at five dollars for 60ml. I went silly and bought 24 colors. Ocd is a weird problem to have. I did find your mixed media approach is great way to go. I have some karendoche water solvent crayons but havent used them. I found a really cool thing last week at a old farmhouse i found a old furnace and harvested the mica sheet from the door. I have an added idea for you. i am going to goto ace hardware and get the left over key making brass filings and use them in the painting like sprinkles. thank you and all that i enjoy your channel . Oh i tried this, acrylic and india ink. It is fun experimenting but as such a costly hobby i do want to buy best of breed paints as I have some paint now . I have no idea on quality yet. High price does not always make for best. I am thinking golden brand over the others local . Colors I have money for 16 tubes max. I need some good gesso too as good will has prepainted canvas at 1.30 a usd pound so very affordable. I just need to know what to buy. I dont know if i should buy a can called gesso or use tittanium white. I think gesso has chalk in it and might soak the paint up too fast
I use different ones. The smaller one is Daler Rowney A4 Ebony Artist sketchbook. The large paper is 200gram A3 Cartridge paper by Ryman. Both are spiral bound which I prefer so that I can open it up completely and it can lay flat.

Really liked it. Thank you. Nice distinction between "version" and "copy".
Your presentations, your videos are top notch. Balm for the soul.
Glad you think so. Thanks so much for watching ✨
This palette is most attractive. I recently used it in a painting and it turned out to my satisfaction. Thank you for all your tips!

Thank you right back. And I hope you'll get out your paints out - first step is always the desire to paint so you are half way there :)

Hi Jade :-) so glad you enjoyed it! Take care and stay safe!
Hello there, love your work, I have question.I didn't think you could water down acrylic that much.
Thank u for sharing this beautiful painting 👍 please show us something on canvas how to paint it in your style of landscape painting
Thank you right back. The process on canvas is essentially the same as on paper. Only difference is that a larger canvas takes many days and sometimes weeks. But I would definitely like to show that sometime in the future.
Will wait for it 😊👍
Tanks for sharing.

Still trying to find your resource list. Where is it?
❤
At one point do you move to canvas?
What is the brand of the sketchbooks you are using? I don't find any 160lb or 140lb sketchbooks. Thanx
I use different ones. The smaller one is Daler Rowney A4 Ebony Artist sketchbook. The large paper is 200gram A3 Cartridge paper by Ryman. Both are spiral bound which I prefer so that I can open it up completely and it can lay flat.
Could you tell me what paper book you are painting in please
