Hello Everyone! 2:05 One thing to note here is that declaring loyalty to a faction and scoring influence points based on your agenda card (based on The Institute being further ahead on the Faction track than The Railroad) aren't related. You don't have to declare loyalty to benefit from that bonus on the agenda card. Just a heads up. :) One misstep to make mention of in this video. card 016 ' All Aboard' requires that we find card '017' which I added into the Wasteland deck. Card 017 would have then allowed us to place the third faction marker. So I resolved this one early. Doesn't impact the gameplay but gave me a leg up. It's not very clear on the card and I've noticed this questioned on BGG due to poor wording as well. Something to keep in mind when a completed quest tells you to 'Add' a card. Let me know in the comments below what we should do next! Cheers!
To be clear on any possible future confusions; Be reminded that you can do only 6 actions. Directly placing a shield token is not one of them. You can guess then that an "added" card will let you to do so indirectly via Encounter action.
Great video! I don't know if that's been mentioned to you before in the comments, but I think you made two small mistakes. 1. You're using the "Idolized" token, not the "well rested" one. 2. I think you're supposed to level up and add a SPECIAL token when your grey peg cycles back to the first xp slot. Only then you can move it up according to the xp points you have left.
Hey Vinny! Thanks for checking out the playthrough. You're completely right on the token. I do catch this and fix it later in the playthrough videos. In terms of the second, can you pin a time as to when this happened. I'd love to take a look. Cheers! :)
Around 24:12, where you earn 3 xp. You go back down to the first xp slot and move up two extra slots before leveling up and adding the SPECIAL token. If I'm not mistaken, you should have added the SPECIAL token as soon as you cycled back to the first xp slot, and then added the two remaining xp points. The 2 rule books that come with the game aren't really clear on what the correct procedure is. There's an interesting forum thread on the topic: community.fantasyflightgames.com/topic/264564-correct-procedure-for-gaining-a-level/ In video games, as you gain experience and your xp bar reaches its max, it rolls back to zero and the remaining xp carries over to a "longer" xp bar. That's why I think you should add the SPECIAL tokens before adding the remaining xp points, so the new xp count you work through is higher than the previous one. I hope I was clear enough :)
I think I remember running into this while I was playing through it and debating which way to go. I believe I should have stopped and pulled the SPECIAL at the point I wrapped around. Then continue counting. The idea is that the leveling process slows down. As I happened to go with 'A' it didn't make an impact but if it had of been a SPECIAL letter that could have been hit by the remaining two XP after wrapping around it would have!
Regarding the XP/leveling, the rules state: "When a survivor gains multiple XP, he or she moves the peg for all gained XP, and then performs the steps for each level gained during that process." It doesn't make intuitive sense to me that you wouldn't draw/install SPECIAL tokens before moving the peg on, but this rule seems to indicate you don't do that until you finish moving the peg, meaning multi-XP victories are more valuable than the same number of 1-XP victories.
I just got this and the california expansion for christmas and after getting halfway through the book I realised my brain must be a sieve as each page just made me more confused than the last. I only recently took up the tabletop hobby a year or so ago and dont have much experience with many games. These videos are so helpful. I can't wait to get started, although I will make sure I side with the railroad on my commonwealth playthrough so it can differ from your own :) Thanks for the video!
@@RollingSolo My birthday is on NYE I'm sure I'm getting that then. I'm glad to hear it expands on solo and co-op as they are mostly what I play. A quick run down for my first game, I was the vault dweller in the commonwealth. I got my ass handed to me by the railroad when as I didn't have chance to declare loyalty. I spent too many rolls trying to roll a 4 to get into vault 84 before the enemies all surrounded me and murdered me. I eventually got a lab coat, opened the vault at Red Rocket, where the vault inhabitants approached me and killed me. I'ld just like to thank you for your reply, don't think I've ever had one from a creator.
@@RollingSolo take your time; just curious because I heard that there are a lot of confusing rule issues in the previous games, which caused a fair bit of frustration, or it that a bit over exaggerated? I am also not sure if I need three games of this genre, or if there is one that is better at this point. At the moment, Lockdown looks good to me, but really not sure…
If you can get this with Aromic Bonds is super cool. I like Lockdown but I think it’s better in more than 1 player. Also, as a veteran of Nemesis, I really liked more the first one. Lockdown was a “more of the same” to me.
Usually, when a quest card says to do some thing at a generic wasteland or settlement location, it requires you to do an encounter action and find the card that was recently Added. In this case, card 017. Only by finding this card can you trigger the quest objective. This will happen at least once more in the Commonwealth questline IIRC. If you read card 017, you'll see that one of the options is to give information to a Corser which results in you adding another Shield to the space, the same Shield that triggers the Quest on card 016. It follows the narrative of that card. It's clear as mud.
Ah! I was under the impression when you 'Add' a card in you shouldn't read it. I guess if I had I would have noticed that. haha Good to know going forward!
You don't need to read the card before Adding it. Anything in Bold on the white section of the Quest card is something you need to do, not something you get to do (if that makes sense). It often seems strange but will make sense once you find the newly Added card.
11:52 during this enemy phase you state that the institute (shield) tokens don't move ,as you 're part of that faction. What if you 're playing a 2 (or more) player game. During the enemy phase shouldn't the star or shield tokens move as both players might be on different factions. Thanx
Hey Tarken, I haven't played this one with 2 players yet so I can't speak to that. Fire that question on the forums of Fallout on BGG and you'll get a response quick I'm sure! Cheers
14:22 I don't think you included the extra (damage)pip as you didn't have a ranged weapon. 2 pips on the dice X(times) level 2 enemy = 4 damage to your hp. But as you have the Raider armour equipped you just suffer 3 damage(hp) .I'm new to this game and probably completely wrong 🙄
Hey Tarken! I was hit with one pip. Which was 2 damage. The ranged ability would hit me for an additional pip which would be 2 more damage. My armor blocks on of those. So a total of 3 damage came through. So you're bang on! Good catch :)
Christian Bonet Is that so? Doesn’t make sense to me that armor is more effective against stronger enemies, blocking more damage than if you’re facing a weak one.
Christian Bonet Ok. I didn’t mean that what you stated was wrong, just that it would make more sense if the damage reduction was the same (at least not higher) for harder hitting enemies, but maybe armor in this game is of the adaptive type 🙂

The number on the lower left of the agenda cards mean that you place this card into the agenda deck for that number of players and up. In your example it means that this 1+ card will always form part of the agenda deck for all player counts.
It has a few uses. Sometimes a card will tell you to get one Loot card for each level of the wasteland, so if you search a level 4 wasteland location, you'll sometimes find more treasure. For Settlements, it also generally determines the number of Shop actions you get when you go shopping. Finally, quest cards will often tell you to put stuff on locations starting with the highest or lowest, as we saw in this playthrough.
