A good speech. I only wish he would have acknowledged the efforts of his vanquished opponents. Maybe that is an American tradition in Politics. But that message strikes a good tone to start out his 5 years.
Stephen Montanino
If you look up his earlier speech he actually started by paying tribute to them.
Just in case the politicians didn't get the message in 2016, we had to pull them off the naughty step by the ear on the 12.12.19 and let them know who's the boss... Good luck Boris.. We are going to get out at last 🇬🇧 The swamp is drained.
well done boris you won the second brexit referendum because that is what it really was , parliement will never beat the peoples vote treat us with respect all the best from the blue circle of the peoples republic of stoke on trent
Very true, this was the second referendum and still it is clear that the public wanted brexit. The fact is if the Tories balls up this chance of trust the public will hopefully linch them proper and they will have to face the witch dunking chair. Drowned or burnt at the stake. The trouble is there’s a brexit deal where basically were half in the EU’s pockets so this is a 50/50 leave / stay scenario . Why are the anti brexiteers moaning ? They have got it half their way also.
Let’s face facts here , who really wants any of them in No 10 . They all seem a bit shifty to me .
Fun fact: More people voted for pro-remain parties in this election than for pro-leave. If we assume that most of the voters voted only on the party's brexit stance, then the majority of voters support remain or a second referendum.
The fact that we can't know how many people voted based only on brexit means that the majority simply don't mind remain or a second referendum. But either way, the Tory win is far from the mass support of brexit that brexiteers are pretending it is.
@Amd Bom Hardly changes the fact that all the other comments are wrong that Boris won the 2nd Brexit referendum. If this has been a referendum, he would have lost because then number of votes is what matters.
He won the election and now can do what we wants, however, based on the votes he does not have a mandate for his Brexit deal.
@Amd Bom Except for the simple fact that it was not a referendum. It was a General Election with Brexit being a key issue, nothing else. You said it yourself, the popular vote is not what matters in an election. In a referendum however, it is what matters.
@Amd Bom You have no idea of my views or what I have done or not done. All you know is that I don't agree that this was a referendum (because it wasn't).
Again, this wasn't a referendum so the people wanting a second one did not get that. They got a GE same as the one in 2017.
What strategy was that, lie continuously and hope people believe them, same as he did in 2016? Farage did the only strategic thing for the leavers and that was because standing against the Conservatives was obvious to hurt his only policy. The remain side had different parties which all had different policies about more than just Brexit.
Nice speech now keep your promises, get Brexit done and don't forget to pay back all the Northerners who's grandfathers are turning in their graves at their descendants who have finally realised that all the pits closed years ago and there's no point in dwelling in the past and constantly droning on about it the way Labour and the Unions want them too!
I'm from Barnsley which was a massive player in the mining industry. You have to remember that coal mining ran in their veins it brought communities together. I get what your saying that it was In the past but you have to remember that closing the pits literally destroyed families. Father's grandfather's brothers uncles some went to work and never came home only to be found swinging from a rope somewhere. It was tragic what Thatcher did. People were starving and their government had turned their backs on them. So I totally understand why people can't let it go.

@@siggi1962true and I agree, if looked at that way and it's a valid point, but that's the system too I suppose, governments win general elections getting majority of votes cast without the majority of electorates on their side-

Also I can’t move country because I’m not old enough, just like I wasn’t old enough to vote in this election and have had my future decided by people who it will not affect for as long as it will affect me. I hope when the NHS is privatised, there is no freedom of movement, inflation and poor trade that you will be very very happy.
@@adelaiderose2422 Yes you are not old enough, you have no life experience or have a clue about what would have been on the cards if labour came into power. We dodged a bullet. Learn about life before you give silly opinions
Jim Bob Somethings get better with age, like wine and cheese, but you Jim Bob do not. Just because I’m young does not mean my opinions are any less valid than yours because I’ve apparently done more research into this election than half the country. Labour was not a perfect choice but Brexit is ten times worse than a liberal government, and whilst you bio degrade I hope that the rest of the youth out here who weren’t allowed to vote will be able to reverse the mistakes you e made.
@@adelaiderose2422 Are you happy with our culture and traditions being wiped out? Get your niqab ready love
Is the nhs goin private
Will do but over a longgg time step by step. So that no one realises it's the Tories who did it. No one as in our moronic public.
NO
Although I wanted to remain before, this result has given me a new sense of relief.
Now no discussion of Brexit not happening and the trade deals are never going to be discussed publicly and I have hope.
So he knew that we used pencils and not pens hmmmm?
Idiot.
Pencils are preferred for historic and practical reasons.
Ink can smudge, dry out or spill over the paper, which could invalidate a person's vote.
When the paper is folded over, pen ink might transfer into another box, making it look like the voter has voted more than once.
You may use a pen if you wish, just be careful to let the ink dry.
Now the main reason that pencils are supplied instead of pens...They're cheap!
In the past when biro's were supplied they all disappeared from the voting booths.
strange lee In the few recent elections there have been a constant use of pens.
Edit: There is video evidence of people rubbing out votes and changing them.
wayinfront1 Don’t jump in here and start cussing, be rational and convince me to change my mind, erase the negativity.

As i said..it's perfectly legal to use a pen (if tampering worries you), just make sure it's legible.
I asked this at the polling station.
I'm 30, physically able and in decent enough job that allows me to provide a home and food for myself. Life isn't going to change too much for me. It's the people that aren't so fortunate that will suffer over the next few years. The MP for my constituency is Kevin Foster. A man who has voted against equal rights for gay people, voted against higher benefits for the disabled, has voted for a reduction on corporation tax, has voted against allowing terminally ill people to end their lives, has voted for mass surveillance on peoples communications and the list goes on. We have more food banks than ever before, more homeless than ever before, fewer police than ever before and an ageing population relying on an underfunded NHS to care for them and a derelict high street. But it's ok because there's a new hotel going up.
Well here is a better idea. How about they tax you 30% of what you make so you can fund all that crap you want.
@@seabass450 I feel I would be better equipped to answer your question if you could explain what you mean by "crap"?
All we ask is PM you and the Conservative party deliver ,
Help.poor people please
the tories will never care about the poor, you should know that, the people voted them and have spoken.
Such a great Xmas Present for this country to know that this nonsense has finally come to an end.
Corbyn and Swindon are finally out, this makes me breathe a deep sigh of relief.
Great times are ahead for this country now, the pound is growing in strength.
Boris has been doing great things without a majority in parliament, now he can continue unimpeded and with the support of government.
Don't think this is over yet, Boris will try brino over brexit
It's Swinson
@@mathieuleader8601 bloody auto correct, Jo Swinson is terrible anyway, I'm over the moon that Corbyn and her are gone, they were terrible for this country.
@@MrsUndergroundMusic brino? Boris wants to get Brexit done, having the extra seats means he can pass the deal through parliament and we're done with this nonsense.
@@minecraftassasin137 the deal is agreed between the EU and us, it just needs to get through parliament which will happen now there is a Conservative majority.
Those seats taken from the other parties are people that want Brexit to pass through parliament without a hitch and get done so they can move forward and deal with the other issues that need sorting in this country.
