    • @scottreesetradinginvesting7936
      @scottreesetradinginvesting7936 2 роки тому +2

      When you buy a Call, you must be directionally correct on the trade (the stock must increase), but you have theoretically infinite profit potential. When selling a Put, the the stock can either go up, sideways, or down slightly, and you can still make a profit...but the profit is limited.

    GREAT video. Very interesting strategy. So, I would do this every few weeks with TSLA if I am a long-term investor? (if it doesn't get executed, I would make about 40-50 percent in a year, and if it does get executed, I get a much better price than buying it now). But with the NIO example, if you did it for the last 6 months and made 25 percent total, you could have just bought NIO at 11 and made almost 400 percent!! If you believe in the company and think it's going to go up, then wouldn't it be far better to just buy it now? You don't get the premium, but you get the stock that is going up and now worth more. Hope you see this. Please respond. Thanks

    What about the risk that you want to buy AAPL at $100, when it's at $108, and it drops to $95. You are forced to buy it at $100, but it's only worth $95, so now you have a immediate $5 loss. And if the stock has been dropping, from $108 to $95, maybe it will continue to drop, thus increasing your losses. Yes, you can start selling covered calls. But your CC premium will have to be at or above the $100 price at which you bought the stock, or else, when it rises, you end up being called out for less than $100, then you will incur a loss of $100 less what you were called out for. Shouldn't this be discussed?

    • @richardthorne2804
      @richardthorne2804 3 роки тому +5

      Isn’t that true of any investment? If you own stocks can’t they go down? If you sell puts way out of the money it’s rare you get assigned. Only sell puts on stocks you don’t mind owning. AAPL might be at 95 then the next week it goes to 105. It’s a great strategy.

If I do that I would be buying NIO high and selling my workhorse low. Workhorse CEO was not impressive in his latest interview. I bought WKHS for the long term. Do you think NIO might go down again? That would be a good time to buy. Also I like to support US companies over Chinese. Workhorse is an American co based in Cincinnati but NIO is Chinese.

    But be honest about it. If you sell puts for income, you HAVE to buy it, no matter how much it drops, or take a large loss.
    That's different than you "get" to buy it.
    Nothing wrong with that, but you should state what the actual risk is in your marketing pitch at the start of the video.
    As you say, you're selling INSURANCE -- people won't pay you option premiums for nothing, and in this case, you're selling the RISK that the stock goes down below the strike price.

    • @scottreesetradinginvesting7936
      @scottreesetradinginvesting7936 2 роки тому

      Yup you're absolutely correct. And if the stock keeps going down (as so many stocks have been in this current market), eventually you will not be able to sell covered calls on the shares with strikes above your cost basis on them.

      If the stock is below your put strike by expiration, you will get assigned and have to purchase 100 shares at the strike price. If you then wanted to get rid of those shares, you can always sell them in the market, but will have to do so for a much lower price...which means you would take a large loss.

    For years I've always sold puts as if I'm going to wait for the stock to go down to my price, I expect to be paid. I also sell calls. On average, selling about 120 option contracts a month 105 expire worthless.

    Will you be offering a subscription model for the options academy? Cuz 1k for the course is a bit too high

    Love your explanations! But how is selling puts a chance to buy the stock at a price cheaper than the market price? In order to be assigned, the market price on expiry must be lower than your strike so you would be making a loss right away. Unless the premium you received makes up for the difference between the prevailing market price and your put’s strike, you are not actually purchasing a stock below the market price, correct?

      @InvestwithHenry  3 роки тому +1

      Correct. The stock has to fall below strike price

    Do you have to buy the 100 stocks if it goes below the strike price, or is it below the break even price ?

    How about sell a put that the strike price is over the current stock price?

    Hi Henry, what if the price went below the strike price before expiration, but was higher on the expiration date? Are we obligated to buy the shares?

    • @ABCDEF-no1cv
      @ABCDEF-no1cv 2 роки тому

      I think it only depends if the person who bought the put exercise the put

    • @affordfreetime
      @affordfreetime 10 місяців тому

      He won''t excercise unless it makes sense for him to do so. Meaning he makes more money excercising compare to selling his put option and the shares. So it doesn't happen just because the price dips below the strike before expiration date.

    Do you have to owned 100 share to selling PUT?

    • @scottreesetradinginvesting7936
      @scottreesetradinginvesting7936 2 роки тому

      No, you just need enough cash to potentially purchase 100 shares at the strike price if you get assigned. You only need to have 100 shares beforehand to sell covered calls.

    If I have 100 shares of a stock can I use them as collateral to sell a put on the same stock? Thanks a lot.
