I normally never really comment on video's, but I wanted to let you know that I really liked the format of this video! I liked that we had both the spoiler and non-spoiler review and that we could choose if we wanted to watch both or just the non-spoiler. Also, love your channel in general!
Splitting the video into segments with time stamps really worked well for me!! I haven't read any of the books yet, but when I do I'll come back for the spoiler-y bits!!
please i AGREE with every single word you said about the poppy war trilogy, your review felt like it was taken straight out of my mind and you worded them very nicely!! i'm so glad to find someone who loves the burning god like i do, because almost everyone i know seems to hate it bc of the ending. also have you read the drowning faith? the angst was STRONG in that one i just burst into tears everytime i remember it.
Omg I read Lore this month too! I agree that it was a fun and quick-paced read, but what fell flat for me was the relationship development between Lore and Castor - just because it didn’t feel like a childhood friends to lovers, but more of a childhood crush to lovers (if that makes sense) 😶 Also, Van and Miles was so funny I agree 🥰
thanks for doing a non spoilery review of the henna artist!! ☺️ i wanted to read it for so long but wasn’t sure if it was worth it or not hehe (as for the poppy war i bought the book and will read it soon!!)
I totally agree with your thoughts on Lore, I think it was really clunky and honestly just keeping the same writing but rearranging it a little bit would’ve helped it make so much sense. I totally appreciated the back page explaining what each of the gods were responsible for, as I didn’t know much about Greek mythology before reading. But for those of us who don’t know the ins and outs completely, there were so many subtle references that a lot of us missed out on, that could have helped to explain the story better. There were so many deaths-that-weren’t-deaths that I feel the trope was overused and it made the writing seem very juvenile in comparison to the Darkest Minds series (which I’ve only read a tiny bit of but can still see a marked difference)
Hello! I thoroughly enjoyed your review of TPW series 💖💖 Rin is the anti-hero of my heart. It is definitely one of my favorite books of all time! I hope you have read The Drowning Faith (scenes written from Nezha's pov)!! I also recently read Lore and I think if a book has anything Greek mythology related, I'll love it no matter what lol
I find it funny that I read books around the same time as you (without knowing it) I'm in the middle of The Dragon Republic and FINALLY starting to like the series again lol
I definitely agree with you about Lore. I haven't read a book in a while unless it was for college and I hadn't read or heard much about Lore before reading and I definitely think it fell short for me as well. I feel like it could've been more flushed out an less flashbacks if it were a trilogy or something. I didn't think I liked the connection between Gil being Hermes, I can't really explain why but it seemed rushed and didn't make sense to me. But I did like the book as a whole and I enjoyed Lore and the rest of the characters.
I am reading Lore and I really thought I would be through it much faster, but somehow, like you said, I can't click with it. It's good for sure but I see it exactly the same way as you do (without telling too much). I will start poppy war 2morrow and I am very excited.
Do you like thriller? Have you heard of Ted Dekker? He wrote the boneman's daughter. It was such a good book. I'm picking up his book house. The cover looks good, might be a little scary though.
I read 11 books in January but they were mainly audiobooks and really enjoyed Raybearer, Hood Feminism, The Vanishing Half, I Can Make This Promise, and Other Words For Home
Okay I read Lore and I really didn’t like it at all!!! I’m not picky about reading like most of the time I’ll read a book and it’s a. 4 or 5 star read for me. I read 108 books in 2020 so I read... a lot. I could not get into Lore and I can’t really put my finger on it but I feel good that you had some issues with it as well. It was honestly an interesting concept but I felt bored by the book. It felt like a lot of choppy back story, not much about the characters, and like they spent most of the book running around from location to location to contact someone or have some sort of interaction. IDK
I mentioned Lore to a bookish friend because she only wants to read completed series. Thanks for the review. Speaking of series, does These Violent Delights end on a cliffhanger? Can you say? 😅
I couldn't finish Lore, I tried but it just wasn't doing it for me :( and that made me quite sad cause I was looking forward to reading it and the plot sounded fun and new. I think I will try again later in the year but for now, it's not for me.
**Kinda spoilery** I read The Poppy War in the end of December/early January and lo ed it! Then went right into The Dragon Republic and it was such a let down, the first was so great but Rin in the second was so frustrating and the end was just a big "What?!" for me... I've been slow to pick up the final book, its on my TBR for February.
i've been hearing a lot of similar things about lore and that's unfortunate because it had so much potential. thanks for these reviews! i really need to get to "the henna artist" 😭
I’m planning to read the poppy war series this year. I want to know what all the hype is about. Also reading Lore right now. I first had a high expectation for this book but I saw a couple of negative reviews in a row that made me lower my expectations. Like I literally expected the book to be bad lol I’m about halfway through it and I …don’t hate it? lol I also don’t love it either. It is okay so far. Feel like a 3-star to me at the moment. Also adding the Henna Artist into my tbr
I recently discovered your channel and I can’t stop binging all your vids!!🥺
Me tooo!
Same!😊

I love that you do reviews with spoilers AND mark them. Very very neat.
Splitting the video into segments with time stamps really worked well for me!! I haven't read any of the books yet, but when I do I'll come back for the spoiler-y bits!!
Love the Poppy WAr series! I loved all 3 but The Dragon Republic was probably my favorite of the entire thing!
You had such a great reading month! I love that you put both non spoiler reviews and a part for spoilers!
I'm literally in love with your channel ❤️🙌🏻

Congrats on the 50k!!! You deserve it 💞
Agree🥰
Love this!! I REALLY need to read the Poppy War series ASAP. I also read Lore in January :)

The Poppy War is incredible. I need to continue on with the series!
I'm hoping to read Lore this month, so I'm curious to see what I think.
poppy war was lit !
i haven't read poppy war, but i really want to, so thank you for non-spoiler and spoiler part of review!
We're getting a sequel to the Henna artist starring Malik and also a movie adaptation I think!

I find it funny that I read books around the same time as you (without knowing it) I'm in the middle of The Dragon Republic and FINALLY starting to like the series again lol
Yay another video to binge on! 💚💚💚 xx
This is a top-notch wrapup.

I love your channel ...love reading get inspiration thanks
Do you like thriller? Have you heard of Ted Dekker? He wrote the boneman's daughter. It was such a good book. I'm picking up his book house. The cover looks good, might be a little scary though.
I was wondering if you noticed any of the casteist elements from the main character in the Henna Artist! I was surprised you like it so much!
I read 11 books in January but they were mainly audiobooks and really enjoyed Raybearer, Hood Feminism, The Vanishing Half, I Can Make This Promise, and Other Words For Home

I do feel a bit wary about Lore & I'm really not sure if I should pick it up...
Is there two legendborn books? I see them on the shelf and if there is a second already I need to buy asap
So Medusa isn’t in the book? Or is she like an ancestor of lore’s.
It seems like we had very similar opinions on Lore (though I think you liked it a bit more than I did!).
Glad to know I'm not the only one! (And lol I may have sugar-coated a teeny bit because I just love Alexandra Bracken as a person 😅)
@@thisstoryaintover she is a lovely person so I get that!
I mentioned Lore to a bookish friend because she only wants to read completed series. Thanks for the review.
Speaking of series, does
These Violent Delights end on a cliffhanger? Can you say? 😅
Yes, it does.
@@camilazamora5112 👋🏾 Good to know! Thank you

Hlw from pakistan.. I am also librarian if knowledge need regarding book classification let me know
I am really sorry but i did not like the poppy war series love you and your channel love from John in Australia
Instead of just going into the books you should at least tell us what they’re about first. That’s why I disliked
