- The LEGO Technic 42153 NASCAR Next Gen Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 is the second set of the March 2023 wave I review. It joins several other Technic cars sharing the same scale (yes, it fits on the Car Transporter), but does it have anything extra compared to them? Let's find out in the video!

A comment about 7:25. I might be mistaking, but I think the reason for no opening doors on the Camaro is because the real NASCAR cars also don't have opening doors since the drivers get in and out through the doors window gap.
Haha, sure they don't open, I was wondering how many people will spot this, especially the ones always looking for more functions in smaller models ;)
You're correct. The real Nascar cars don't have working doors. It would have been easy and cheap to add a hinge on these doors in the Technic set (like two pins probably), so I'm sure the fact that they DON'T open was intentional by the Lego team to make it authentic. If they had working doors people would have complained that the real cars don't.
Moreover, the model's arciteture somehow reflects the NASCAR Car's structure: the body has a 1/2 offset in high to the chassis, and has relatively few connection points.
Too bad they didn't highlight it during the building process, that real-live cars are the "integral buggy-like chassis" covered with fiberglass panels...
The lack of "features" on this set could actually be argued as making it more authentic. For example real Nascar cars don't have doors, the drivers climb through the window area (but there are no windows). Also the real cars have stickers for their lights, so stickers for the lights on the Lego set could be considered more authentic. Not sure if they were thinking that when they did it, but they sort of lucked out.
I hate stickers, but I really agree with it not having doors. If it had doors, it would be completely wrong.

It's really cool to see how much your narration has evolved. I was watching some of your older reviews and you are so much more lively and anunciated now. Your public speaking skills have improved a lot and they really do make the content better.
Thank you for the feedback, that's really nice to hear! :)
*enunciated
@@RacingBrick okay I have a slight problem with mine the front axles were the wheels go on it is rubbing and it's causing a lot of damage so the wheels keep catching what do I do to stop it
Check your assembly as that shouldn't be happening
@@RacingBrick I've checked the only thing I did wrong was the engine and I fixed that
I honestly really like these 50$ sets at almost the same scale for technic. It’s almost like it’s turning into some sort of speed champions thing
I really agree, these feel like Technic versions of Speed Champions and I really like it. They might not be as advanced as the bigger sets in functionality but I love that they are all to scale with each other and that at $50 (and often $40 since they go on sale often), it is easy to collect them all as impulse buys when you are looking for a build. It is the same reason I collect all the speed champions. I'm a big fan of this $50 technic car series.
Yeah these consistent scaled sets look really good when lined up together.
I think the stickers on this one make it more authentic seeing as it's a Nascar so they are all stickers in real life. As a Technic fan 2023 is off to an unreal start 100% this is being added to the collection
The comment about the steering just before 4:20 is so appropriate. I made the same mistake when assembled the pieces. Also as many pointed out in the comments, Lego should have added more text to the fact that Nascar is celebrating its 75th anniversary. I saw their video after assembling the car.
The fact that you pointed out the steering issue really helped me !! I was hre for an hour like wtf lol 🤣 THANK YOU!
Thank you for the steering tip at 4:33! I was about to lose my mind!
for the livery, nascar is celebrating 75 years this year, hence the 75 number on the model. they also changed their logo to a diamond with the nascar stripes so that explains the holographic stickers
Yesss sirrr🔥
You guys just don’t understand my excitement to get this set. I nearly cried when it was originally rumored. This truly was my dream set🔥
Thank you so much for 4:05!! That’s exactly what happened to me and you fixed it. I appreciate you
Lots of stickers but a great looking model … can’t wait to get my hands on it
"C'mon LEGO, these stickers don't even try to be white anymore ... these are clearly gray" ... oMg xD ... so true!!! Made my day
Note on no opening doors : nascar do not have opening doors. They have nets in the windows
I like that axles are the same color. Not one being gray and the other brown. Overall, for $50 bucks, not bad. I'll add it to my collection. As always, your builds and opinions are greatly appreciated.
A differential again!!! That's exciting in itself.
Great video. I never buy a set without watching your review. Thanks
Oh, these [WHITE] stickers.. why??? Thank you for detailed review!
just a small FYI; NASCAR have welded doors so they wouldn't open ;)
Thank you for the detail at 4:22.. I was very frustrated that the steering wasn t working. I made the same mistake, but I fixed it as you instructed and now it s working perfectly! Thanks a lot🎉
same!!
The reason why the doors don't open its because the nascar cars doesn't have fuctional doors, the driver gets into the car through the window.
I. Got hung up with that steering piece you mentioned. Took it apart and flipped it to allow the brown spline to rotate freely. Thanks for pointing that out.
I really like that Lego put some plastic parts to the sticker sheet.
I have this and I love it, I watching this so I can enjoy the build again
Just bought this set along with other March 1st sets at a Walmart in North Carolina 👍🏻
This is the first Lego set I have put together in years, and it's the first one I've made that's this complicated, and as a huge NASCAR fan and lover of all things automotive this was lots of fun to put together, I'll probably look at getting another set soon.
This set actually looks really nice and i love the look of the stickers. I can't wait for the review of the firefighter plane set. Great video
I love these stickers!
As big as this set is, the design reminds me of the small speed champions sets before they updated the chassis piece. The greenhouse is so small. What a step back from Technix.
it's good to see a car this scale get a differential again
This car looks very cool, its nice to have an actual licensed nascar set, unlike the older 2019 camaro speed champion. Thanks for your reviews on unreleased sets!
So when I was building the car it was really cool because it took features from actual cars like the differential, drive shaft, the crank shaft and pistons. The only thing I didn’t like was the steering wheel.
I like this model. It's easy to motorized with CADA set, no major changes are needed. Model is quite stiff, it doesn't twist, it doesn't fall apart..
Looks like an interesting little build. I have the Bolide and the Senna so it would seem that this set will probably wind up on my shelf. I almost wish I had a printer with which to completely change the Camaro's livery. Enjoying your reviews a lot! Can't wait for the next two sets.
I am great NASCAR fan. Also Camaro fan. This model is awesome 😎 ❤
Surprisingly interesting model for the scale and price with this new approach for the engine at the front. With that said, I did fit more in this scale, including full size piston blocks, full size hood and doors, and modular detachable body, so I guess what this set's got going for it instead is rigidity aimed and younger builders.
thanks for doing this 7:08
So far I like the new Ford Gt. And I'm looking forward for the fire plane to be reviewed !! overall i like how the technic parts and sets have evolved !!
I love this car and your video!
The way it's built is very different but still, at the exterior it looks like many otehr lego technic cars of this scale, like Ford Mustang Shelby GT 500
Your a legend you helped me fix that problem😊😊😊😊
Nascars don't have opening doors. Driver's go in through the 'window'. So it's not a 'mistake'.
nice 👍
To be fair, I guess real NASCAR doors do not open as well :D
The car is awesome and I don't know how but you are sooo good reviewing sets
The background walls look to be Bristol motor speedway
I liked the addition of the differential. Better turn radius!
I do not like stickers but yeah, with stickers it is for sure a better looking one! I really love that they keep such sets cheap.
It took me a minute to like this set, now that I'm seeing it at multiple angles, it's not that bad.
Half stud building is nice to see in Lego sets !
I have this I love it
Definitely getting it in celebration of 75 years of NASCAR
The stickers were nice to see irl
rare to see foil stickers like that, might pick this up for those alone
Now this is very racing of you.
You probably already get alot of comments about this, I haven't read any comments, but the reason the Camaro's doors don't open, is simply because real NASCAR, ARCA, more official motorsports won't have doors, more of a window well and a net which they climb through.
When it comes I will buy the Camaro
This also made me think of the sticker-heavy 42109 - Top Gear Rally Car. It's got about 200 parts less, but I guess that's what happens when you have PU in a set. I ponder if you could motorise this set in the same way...
7:25 it’s a NASCAR. The doors don’t open on the real thing. That’s why the drivers climb through the window.
I might be wrong, but NASCAR cars do not have doors at all. Driver jumps in through the side window and covers it with a fabric mesh.
I have that Lego set it’s fun to build and It was very long to build
pretty ❣
Rear differential makes $50 set great again!
Thanksfor the review i want this set but the problem is that i find lego technic very hard and my first technic set my brother built it was more than 200 pcs it was lego 42150 monster mut but this is even more hard i like technic cars alot because they have alot of features
Its a 75th anniversary car, thats why its that color and number
I want a bigger version of the grarage 56 nascar they raced at Le Mans last year.
Livery is refers to diamond 75th anniversery of NASCAR.
Sticker sheet be like:
Have a seizure!
I just built that 1 month ago!!!!
Every time I see a review for a Technic car, I'm wondering, does it fit on the transporter? 😀 So thanks for mentioning it. I assume the Bugatti Bolide fits too since it's same scale? Enjoying the reviews, thanks!
Your question was answered at 7:05 ;)
How do you get the stickers so perfectly straight?
at 0:55, you said there were 4 unnumbered bags, but they do have numbers :)!
At 2:37 the black piece won’t go all the way into the brown piece for me. Did I put it in wrong?
They should make a version with the number 3 car (Dale Earnhardt) personal opinion
Space Tape!
I'm not a fan of Nascar but I'm interested in this set. Too bad it looks terrible without the stickers. I would love to do a solid color moc if I had the pieces.
Why doesn’t my crankshaft turn all the way ? What did i do wrong lol it hits the bottom yellow bar below it? Did i miss a step
When I see your build error on the HOG steering it gives me hope that I'll make it through a full Technic build without an error along the way .... well, maybe.
This is surprisingly a good looking build. Lego have done a good job with this scale of Technic builds within a very good price-point as not everyone can afford the high-end builds over $200 (or $150 for that matter). The differential will sway many builders. I agree also that the release livery was nicer looking, but this is an in-your-face NASCAR build, and I think that we can give Lego a pass on that. I'd be tempted to pass on the front not-really-white hood lip stickers with the image of the hood pins altogether. I would have preferred a grey pin through the panel to replicate this feature of a real NASCAR vehicle. As NASCAR vehicles don't have opening doors by design not having them open on this build is actually more authentic then having doors that open.
I do see why the Bolide and Senna are more interesting builds. I have just started these Technic builds and may well get this down the road, but no urgency at this point in time as I currently have the Bolide in my queue to build first.
Thanks for your great reviews!
Why does the red/blue color scheme remind me so much of magnetic poles?
7:26 no door is needed. That's what the windows for.
Maybe someone actually tried this time to do the white sticker in non-paper white to match the real part colour, but messed up the printer calibration again. After more people would complain they might fix it like on the lime Mustang and send a free replacement sheet.
Nascars never have opening doors.
Opening doors wouldn't make sense on a Nascar because they don't have doors in real life. They just use the window.
Can’t decide between this and the mustang
i wonder if you can switch the color with the mustang
Could a Captain America Minifigure fit in the cockpit? Or would it look too small?
Will there be a vid on the Mclaren double pack that comes out march?
‘Adding doors that open would be good’ Sir nascar doors never open
The axle doesn’t turn when I turn the knob on the top of the car. Why is that? PLEASE HELP!
I considered collecting these cars in the same scale 1 to 17/18, but gave up, since the two with the pullback feature was very underwhelming and the "muscled" ones overall has a very similar, almost copypaste-felt design (the roof for example is the same with every muscle variant of this scale), which is again, very underwhelming. I just hope LEGO will stay on path with the bugatti and senna variants, because they have 3 functions, which is pretty neat (differential, hand-of-god steering, doors), but my biggest hopes with the new sport car scale with the GT. I hope they give us more with this scale because at that size they really have no excuse to don't include some standard functionality like doors, engine openings, working engine, hand-of-god steering, and some extras like the retractable spoiler. Also, they will have much more window for unique building techniques like the surprisingly colorful Speed Champions sets do.
“Adding doors that would open wasn't an option, apparently“. Considering NASCAR vehicles don’t have doors… yeah.
It's a new Technic set that's not $400 so it's an easy buy
I like the set except how the bars stick out at the wheels. Looks wrong. I think it looks great without the stickers.
Awesome video but I have a question for speed champions. Do you know when or if you’ll be doing the solus g/ f1 lm speed champions set. It’s my favorite out of this years lineup and Im really hoping you’d do a review
It'll happen before the street date, that's all I can say
@@RacingBrick ok thanks. Just happy to know the video is happening lol
houston we have a problem,we need another trailer for the cars
It seems that the fake engine with just half pins isn't working as well. In a few shots there are pistons not moving. Do the instructions show the cam pieces placed the way you have them at 02:15? Seems to me that it makes no difference to have the pairs in opposite direction if you know what I mean.
in my country, this Lego model is around 250 in us dollars!
My sons back ties are turning opposite of each other why I wondered? Please give insight if your able. Thank you
fun fact- nascar cars doesnt open doors
A bit surprised that you recommend the Bugatti Bolide over this one. From what I see, the Bugatti doesn't have a differential (although it has a nice v16 engine). Do you think this would be better if I wanted to get it for motorizing it?
