Wonderful editing, and overall a job well done on the video. What hit me the hardest is when Tantai Jin carved out his own tombstone willingly succumbing to his fate. That was his subtle "Don't forget me moment" message for Li Susu.
Aww, this was really beautiful and emotional! While it may not be the happy ending that I wanted (which was the full novel epilogue) , It was still an open ending. Sad, but kind of hopeful too. He's not completely gone. Like most of us, my theory is that him cultivating inside the heart-guarding scale was implying a future return. The screenplay shows that there was a lot cut (as a result of the new 40 episode restrictions) including a part where Tantai Jin uses the heart-guarding scale to create a shield that protects everyone from the all-in-distress way. I believe this would have explained how/why the heart-guarding scale inadvertently saved part of him too. The original screenplay ending had Susu and A Mi meet a man in white (reborn TTJ we can assume) at the banks of the Mohe river. They changed that to be more open ended and to let the audience decide what happens next, but I kind of think the implications are the same. Bai Lu's Li Susu letter talks about it being her turn to search for him, and asking him not to make her wait too long. Which I think further validates this idea. She's not given up, and neither have I haha. We just don't get to see it unfortunately. It takes 1,000 years for him to come back in the novel's epilogue.

Stuff that Youku have released since... I feel like all of this leans into the "he can come back and she's just got to wait for him" interpretation. Most of us refuse to believe anything else. haha
