Crystal Ball is One of My Favorite Styx songs......I looked at this song as me growing in that time... Sometimes we need a crystal ball for the future,,,,I grew up with Styx from My Hometown of Chicago , before they were famous , Great Band , Tommy Shaw Definitely added to the band...First Major Tour he was added , as their original guitarist backed out , too bad, what a success !!!
The bass player is Ricky Phillips, who's been in the band for 20 years and played with the babys and Bad English before. Todd Sucherman has been on drums since John Panozzo died in 96. Will Evankovich was brought in in 2021 to sing the high parts for JY since at 74 doesn't have much power anymore.
Damn Yankees isn't Styx. And the band that is touring out there isn't Styx easier. Further proof that it is the Tommy Shaw band. Glad I didn't waste my money seeing these scrubs.
Tommy Shaw is NOT a scrub .... I find it funny that Dennis has been out of the band since 1999 and Styx has played SO many shows the past 24 years , and yet I am NEVER the only person in the crowd .... AND Tommy and JY and the rest of the band NEVER pack it in. It is a GREAT show every time ! They sound great and once you are 70+ I think you should play with who you want to play with. You know Styx wasn't Styx until Tommy showed up in 1975. Dennis toured before and in fact toured in the early 90s without Tommy. Yet Styx went on. I will be at the Venetian Rockin' The Paradise ! If you need to know , I have NEVER wasted a dime seeing Styx ... I feel that I am getting a great value .... Very few bands from 70s can put on a ROCK show as good as they do ... in case you might have missed it , classic rock is dying as we know it. Once these great artists retire and/or pass away ... we will have Taylor Swift left to entertain us .... Hope you like spending thousands to see shows like that ! YES Styx as they are now , is worth the price of admission and then some !!! You are Fooling Yourself otherwise !
@@KateMilkowski No, they suck. They have to use pre-recorded vocals and auto tune. They are aligned with multiple bands to fill arenas they used to sell out with Dennis. Isn't it funny that while, as you say, DDY has been out of the band for 24 years, how he is the one still mostly associated with Styx. Why? He had by far and away the most success. Tommy always was second fiddle.
@@BrandGuyTim How do you know they suck ? You do not go! I have supported Styx for OVER 50 concerts. Saw them in 81 and 96 and 97 with Dennis. Great shows. I have seen them without Dennis and they are still great shows. Dennis is a great song-writter and singer. Tommy is a great song-writter and singer. Both still sound amazing to this day. But you are totally wrong .... Styx NEVER use pre-recorded vocals and auto tune. EVER ! I know as I attend these shows , they had a great sound guy for MANY years. He even recorded the big albums with them in his studio in Chicago. I have seen Dennis live a few years back and he does NOT use any of that auto tune stuff either. Not sure where you get your information from ??? ask anyone who has been to a Styx show.. it is a LIVE show. In fact, a few years back Lawrence Gowan got sick in Vegas and could not sing too much. Tommy sang Come Sail Away live ... I was there ... 3rd row. The ONLY time Tommy sang that song in the 50 plus shows I have attended. The show must go on ! Funny how Dennis was too sick to perform with Styx but soon after hit the road with his lame band. Touring everywhere. Then he got a new band getting Tommy and JY imposters. Then he had the Styx sound again. August is awesome pretending to be Tommy Shaw. So tell me how Dennis doesn't need Tommy again. Why do you think he packed up shop with Glen Burtnik replacing Tommy in the early 90s? It wasn't til 96 with Tommy that they filled up BIG VENUES again. both 96 and 97 were great years for Sytx. Then a few years later I saw Dennis playing at the MGM when the David Cassidy showroom was dark. I think there were 1,500 people there. I was there too. Your facts SUCK not Styx
@@KateMilkowski Go drink Tommy's bathwater elsewhere. Here are the facts: Styx had 8 top 10 singles. The 7 biggest ones were written and sung by DDY. He produced all their albums. He came up with the concepts. Question - how many would come to a show of the Tommy Shaw band? Answer maybe 100. Tommy can keep touring because he stole the brand from Dennis. Its the power of the brand - not Tommy Shaw. Who built the brand? Dennis DeYoung.
And not to mention Gowan that was invited to join in 1999.. who is a great showman, pianist and singer and songwriter. Had the chance to meet him after a New Year’s Eve show as Gowan. A very nice, smart and funny guy that Tours as a solo artist in Canada in between Styx Tour dates. As Tommy Shaw said to Dan Rather, “At this stage in my life, I just want to be happy and be surrounded by happy people.” These guys still have it, even if some of them have hit 70 years young. Hats off to them, great artist enjoying their time on stage together. Got my tickets for Montreal show in May. Ok…enough said 😁
I listen to a wide variety of music but this song will always make top ten for me

my favorite song since i was 14, am 60 now
Man can still hit the notes ,, they sound great 👍
“Come Again” is one of my favorite songs of all time! I love you Tommy!
Can't believe how good these guys sound for "men of a certian age"
My favorite song since 40 years. Thank you fromage belgium ❤
Very cool, love how he played Damn Yankees song “Come Again” as the lead in to Crystal Ball. Very cool, and he still sounds awesome 😎.
Damn Yankees isn't Styx.
@@BrandGuyTim Yes it isn't, buuuuttt...tommy shaw was part of them. Along with Jack Ranger of Nightranger and Ted Nugent of uh...well, Ted Nugent.
Wow Tommy that is so pretty ❤
Thanks for sharing, Larry. Loved Styx since the mid seventies. Sure, I miss DDY, but love Tommy and so many of their songs still sound superb ✌🏼
I was there and it was f'n amazing! Tommy is 70 people. What?!
Tommy has said "Crystal Ball" is his favorite song to perform in concert...
❤ Sail Away!!!🎉
"Hot damn Tommy Shaw!"
I know Tommy, JY and Larry Gowan, but who are the other 3 guys? And since when did they get a rhythm guitarist?
Without Dennis, I'm sorry, it's like Foreigner without Lou and Dokken without George, heck EW&F are out there after Maurice died, it's dishonest

They are awful without DDY
JY, unlike Dennis, made a deal with the devil, so Styx needed to get extra singers and lost their unique harmonies.
@@BrandGuyTim Hahahahahahaha! They're almost exactly the same without DDY--except MUCH happier!
Cmon June 2024
Flavor flav is in the rock hall of fame and Tommy isn’t.
Has JY had a hair transplant....hence the silly hat
SOUNDS GOOD BUT I'M SORRY WITHOUT DENNIS YOUR BAND IS NOT STYX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
