I was born 2 weeks late, my brother was born 2 weeks early. Apperently along with 2 weeks I took his sexuality because I'm pan and he's both aro and ace. But he got me back by taking some of my gender because I'm nonbinary and he's experiencing a gender crisis.

When I drove a cab, I would regularly get customers from all the LGBT clubs in town. There were clubs for every stripe up the rainbow. Except ace. As a vegetarian who had to switch to Not Anymore for health reasons -curse you depression, adhd, fibromialgia, and arthritis!!- …this is accurate. I HATE the texture and the taste is only sometimes bearable (in a “I got it down but No Thank You do NOT want more” sorta way) …but the SMELL of SOME meats is okay

I’ve tried ground up canned tuna and chicken spreads, ground up canned chicken in sauce, it’s ALL fucking AWFUL. I’m super sensitive to textures, so there’s absolutely NO hiding it in something (especially since it stays so stringy and takes so much rechewing and stays trapped on my teeth!!)
Like. The only way I can try and get through it is to try to surround it with MANY textures but. I still pick the fucking thing out. Unfortunately. I’m still stuck gagging the damn thing down and losing my appetite after I finish a single portion. Then trying to make myself eat Any Sort Of Strong-Flavored&Textured stuff I DO like. I came out as demi ace to my parents during pride month separately. My mum was confused at first and asked me a lot of questions but once she understood she was like "ok, cool".
My dad on the other hand, as per usual, wasn't so supportive. He reacted exactly the way I expected. "Maybe you haven't met the right guy. How do you know if you haven't tried it?"
I dunno Dad, how do you know you're not gay if you haven't tried it? See how stupid that sounds?
Thankfully my youngest sister is awesome and figured it out way before I did lol. I haven't told my other siblings yet, but that's another hill to climb for another day

Okay, so, in North America, honeybees are invasive. They're super strong competitors native to Europe, and drive out native pollinators. So the best way to save your plants is to plant crops that encourage native pollinators, diversify fields to prevent monocultures, and provide habitats for native pollinators to encourage resettlement. This will reduce crop dependence on an invasive species, help struggling native species recover, and make your farms look much more pretty

This. Also be careful with using pesticides, though it's better for the environment to not use them at all. A lot of pesticides are engineered to not harm honeybees, but will still kill a lot of native pollinators.
Fun fact: before he retired my grandpa was considered to be the world's leading expert in mustard. He literally had guys from all over the world come to learn from him and he is the person who discovered if you put the clear stuff in the jar it won't turn brown.

Not every camera can actually see 'true' purple. If it's the 'real purple' at the higher end of the color spectrum, some camera's can only detect it with the 'blue" sensor.
If you mix red and blue, it isn't 'real purple', our eyes only make us believe it is, since we see 'real purple' with our blue and red receptors. Camera's that can't detect purple on the red sensor therefore only see it as blue.
Strictly speaking 'real' purple is called violet. The purple we see doesn't really exist as color.

I have noticed that. my favorite color is that true purple, and is so ridiculously hard to create or find digitally. Because of that, I changed my favorite color many years ago to the closest color that mimicked it in a much lighter shade. Cheating the system

6:50 "The Eiffel Tower", in french "La tour Eiffel", have the word "La" which is for feminine gender. In french we don't have gender neutral pronouns like "it" we only have "le" or "la" So each inanimated object have a gender : table♀, tower♀, knife♂, desktop♂. I don't know the logic behind this.

Way back when French was Latin. And the gender generally matched up with what the word ended with. If it ended in -us or -er, its was masculine, -a it was femenine, if it was something else it was probably neuter.
Then french and most other related languages combined the neuter and masculine, then ate up the ending
Thats what the -x in french is. Its the remains of latin -us in some words, usually by coincidence.

I have spent the last couple days trying to find a fellow ace through dating apps (because I am still heteroromantic and want companionship dammit), and have only come out of it feeling even more asexual than before. smh. Even the more queer friendly apps seem to be flooded by heterosexual men, and because I am heteroromantic, those are all I get to see, with the occasional bi's sprinkled in. i'm an ace, and i go to therapy. i'd noticed my therapist had a book on Freud on her bookshelf. she spent many sessions trying to tell me i wasn't actually asexual and casting doubt on my orientation. i finally know why. thanks, ace memes :D
I can relate. I’m also ace and one of my therapists have asked me if I think I’m ace due to some underlying anxiety surrounding sex and relationships

If you're feeling dysphoric about it then exploring it in therapy can be worthwhile since you're ace however I would look for a new therapist that can address the things you actually need help with.

I saw an article the other day (in a Quebec newspaper) saying that childless people were selfish and that they should pay more taxes to punish this shelfishness, because "your job or being celibate is not an excuse". This shocked me quite a bit; I was never in a couple because I'm too shy IRL, and I don't have the financial means to raise a kid (especially in this financial context, where the living cost is increasing quite rapidly and companies look for more employees, so parents send their 12-yo kids working to support the rest of the family).
And just after writing this article, the author complained that her son's teacher took a maternity leave, calling her selfish.

I was born at the end of the 90s, so I grew up at the beginning of the 2000s (I was too young to understand 9/11, for exemple, so this did not really affect me, but I grew up to see how it affected the others under Bush's presidency - or Harper's in my country). Still, while I was growing up, we had an era of liberalism where everything and everyone seemed to be fine, the future was optimistic, Obama, Trudeau and the PLC were the politicians in power. So then, I did not see coming the "harsh recoil" of Trump or the CAQ in my province (the leader of the CAQ ran as a "Quebec's Trump" - with policies against migrants and civil liberties). Luckily, we're not facing right now politicians wanting to abolish "gender rights", but they're abolishing our civil protections at an alarming rate making it possible for a politician wanting to do so in the future to do it - and all of those changes seemed to be the realm of fiction only 6-7 years ago.

For the record, I am and always will be pro-life, but not this way. For me and many others, Pro-life means creating a world where motherhood is never something that holds you back, thereby removing the need for most abortions.

Then, I kinda found myself with no opinion on the topic when I pursued my studies. I had "bigger problems", and my worldview just got shaken to the core with Trump's election. What finally led me to change my view was Philosophy Tube's video on the topic - now, my view is kinda a "utilitarian" view, one asking what path creates the best fruits. And from what I've seen, it seems as though allowing abortion is the one creating the least harm, since it at least preserves the life of the person going through with the abortion.

I still find myself doing it sometimes when my (very conservative and traditional) family is going on about how I need to find a husband already and have kids. Do all ace people have crazy dreams? I have had dreams featuring stuff like talking pizza-people, sentient lemons, a secret bassement leading to hell, tardigrade-shrimp-walrus things and a bath inside of a sink inside of à sink.
That last one about cooking was fascinating. But did you know, dogs probably evolved from wolves after first eating the scraps of cooked human food, and slowly adjusted to prefer it and human company over living in the wild? Not only did cooking food help us evolve into humans who tell stories over fire, but also the cuddly pooches who enjoy the warmth and comfort, and a bit of garlic bread just as much as we humans. And I actually have garlic bread and cake waiting, so I think I aced this topic. 😄
