    I was sifting through some rotary tool videos to get some ideas for what to use them for, and I can't believe how many 15 minute videos I came across that gave 45 seconds of actual useful information. Your video is by far the best one I've come across so far, and I just thought I'd let you know you did a great job. It presented your creation well, and it didn't include unnecessary footage. It was nicely cut and edited. Solid work. Thanks for the great idea and quality video.

    Simple and easy solution for a very complex problem(how to guide a router), I was looking for a router base since last two years, many youtuber made very elegant and professional looking bases, but your's is simple and it works. Thanks for sharing.

    I can remember when a 3 1/2 Hp router was the thing to have. All of them have downsized, and with great success. It's items like this, that make something like a Dremel into a woodworking MONSTER. Awesome post, thanks.

    if you used reletively stiff springs in place of the bottom nuts, you would only have to turn the wing nuts to adjust it. the only downside is that you would not be able to lean on it(leaning on it is stupid anyway though).

    This is the first/only video I've seen of yours but it's clear you're amazing. Uploading videos like these is an act of kindness to begin with but the quality and accuracy of the filming/editing/graphics, coupled with a fantastic and minimalistic idea is really helpful. Especially for someone like me who has owned a Dremel for about five months now and has yet to use it because I'm not exactly sure how to go about things the best way. This accessory is a perfect example of what I feel I need to make use of it. Thank you.

    You obviously have a large fan base but it could be four times larger.
    Most people that have this much equipment can complete this task you’ve shown already have enough experience to do this on their own. I think with you approaching the dialogue and the title of the video as a how to your kind of insulting some people that could be your fan. If you approached it as a vlog and a (what I’m doing this week) video then your fan base just quadruples. Right now you only have a small amount of people that fit your kind of niche. And that niche is people that have the equipment but don’t know how to construct something on their own, which isn’t very likely. And I’m not sure if you noticed this but tutorial videos are not a thing anymore. People just discuss their life and what they are doing. So just approach your videos like a diary or a (I overcome this challenge and I’ve learned a new skill) kind of video, versus a how to tutorials.

    One part of the process that can be improved: when drilling countersunk holes, drill the widest, shallowest ones first, so there is still material in the center to hold the drill bit tip when you drill the narrower holes and the through holes.

    I must applaud you, your video is very easy to watch. Let me explain what I mean by that.
    So many people post poor videos that are not thought out. Adding a voice over to follow step by step instructions is less disrupting than hearing background noise of a TV, children or a squawking bird. Taking the time to write a script and recording a voice over is hands down more pleasing to the ear than listening to the constant "Uh, yea" or "Umm". Believe me, I know that from personal experience. Many years ago I was on the radio talking about my then business and listening back to the audio tape was horrific, I must have said "Umm" at least 30 times in 3 minutes.
    Thank you for sharing your skills and your delivery of how to duplicate them.

    • @Makify1
      @Makify1  8 років тому

      +Cactus! workshop If I give it some force I can get the base to warp a little bit. A thicker base or a piece of wood in the back connecting the two sides would fix that issue. I haven't noticed any flexing in use though.

    I have to make something too, no one supplies it as far as I know.
    I built a clamp for a Bevel bit after it nearly burned out my drill. They require too much pressure and do not have the accuracy and take 10 times longer. Bevel's are not suited for drill's. After I built the clamp and rotated it by hand it was amazing how quick it works and I can put full pressure on it. It aches the hands though it saves your drill.

    Great DIY clip but I don't have the threaded collar or the tools to make the wide bore hole. When you figure in the cost of materials, time, and labor for this project you'll actually save time, frustration, and money by just ordering the Precision Router Base for the Dremel tool from Stewart-MacDonald.

    • @DavidLaFerney
      @DavidLaFerney 5 років тому

      I gotta disagree. If you aren't sure you will be using it very often this is a good way to go - and my fellow packrats probably have most (or all) of what they need in the shop already. As for time... Why does anyone do anything theirself? This is probably a 1-2 hour project at Most. So unless you earn $30 / hr you should come out ok on it. If not you still get the priceless joy of making something useful.

    murphy's law say ,'Simple is best' [I don't remember what # that one was] , Since you're on a roll , next one for others [I don't have the means to publish] could be a 'plunge ' version of the same . With the little duty of 'Dremels' [used them for 50 + years , 6-8 models ], near burning out a few ], maybe a better choice would be a trim router , since now powerful little ones are all over the place .

  • @markbaker9459

    my first model was the #260 , and went up from there to the b.b. models . These were when B&D biggest router was just a weak 1/4" fixed base model , in fact no one ever hear of a plunge router until the late 70's .

      I use Timber Wolf blades from Suffolk Machinery (www.suffolkmachinery.com). I heard about Timber Wolf blades from Jimmy DiResta, if you know who he is. I've bought a couple different blades from them and have been happy with all of them. I'm currently using a 3/16" wide, 10 tpi, 0.025" thick blade and it works well as a general purpose blade at least for the kinds of cuts I make most often.

    Hello. First to thank you on great video tip, and for free plans. Realy thank you. Now I need advice. Today I bought a new dremmel, but I did not get the plastic part for the sacrifice. Is there a way to use a collar, or some other way? Maybe with a wooden mold? Or if has a buy a plastic part on ebay? I realy dont know...

      The thread is 3/4" x 12 tpi so if you can find a bolt of that size, which can be difficult, you can use that instead.

      I found it on Amazon for around $5 as well. I did not get it in my original purchase of my Dremel.

    Are there any ways to set up this kind of Dremel router to follow a pattern? What I mean is, sometimes router bits will have a little bearing and collar that'll run around a template without cutting into it. I ask because I want to make several identical cuts, and my freehand skills are not the greatest.
