Hiraeth is a Welsh word for which there is no direct English translation. The online Welsh-English dictionary of the University of Wales, Lampeter likens it to homesickness tinged with grief or sadness over the lost or departed. It is a mix of longing, yearning, nostalgia, wistfulness, or an earnest desire for the Wales of the past. - wikipedia
That's sick, I was gonna say this sounds like Interstellar. Imagine traveling in the far reaches of space to find some sort of Shangri-La, but couple that with the sad feeling of leaving your loved ones behind on Earth if you choose to stay. The feelings are deep after your input.
To me, this song feels like the reunion with a loved one--One who you cherished the most intimate memories with, the one who knows most about you, just to see them again. It brings back that nostalgia you two shared together. And it instills those memories in which are just your own--just between you two.
this is the same sensation i got at some point of the track; also the exact feeling of hiraeth... It goes deep inside, and I realized some tears slipped down my face
After hearing this song, I immediately looked up the meaning of this new, somewhat alien word, which is a Welsh slang for "a longing for something, someone, or somewhere that has been lost". I felt a longing for those who I've lost, particularly my grandmother, my eldest cat and my grandfather who have all passed away, as well as my girlfriend who I've fought with and been at odds with her for a very long time. And once I heard this, I realized that everything will eventually be okay in one way or another, even if we're all not within reach, or if some other loved ones were no longer present in any physical or tangible form.
I discovered Lone long time ago with Galaxy Garden, and I have to say that this album show how his music evolved, you can feel it, Thank You! for making my life better with you music.
Have you listened to his previous albums before Galaxy Garden? Galaxy Garden was the first album in which he began to start something new/different in my opinion. I loved Galaxy Garden despite the change! If you have listened to the other albums, what's your opinion of them? The majority of the tracks on this album are clearly a tribute/retrospective to 90s rave music; Jungle music in particular.
Heh. Galaxy Garden isn't long time ago. That was less than 5 years ago. I first got into Lone with Ecstasy & Friends in 2009. Then I backtracked to Lemurian (2008), which is was a bit more hip hop. Over the years he's kind of gone back and forth with a blurring of hip hop, synth & 16-bit sounds. He seems to have a knack for making a completely listenable album from start to finish (i.e. I end up purchasing the whole album instead of just a couple tracks.)
+Andre “AJ” Cartwright Have you listened to lone's album, everything is changing colour? It was his first actual album and it clearly showed hoe boards of canada has influenced him. I heard about BOC from lone and they are now my favourite musicians!
Before looking up the title, I felt a longing for something, but I didn't know what. I still don't know, but now that I know what the word means, the music makes so much more sense.

I guess Lone needs to call his Mom before he finds battles too difficult to handle.

possibly his best album yet and this is an epic ending to it...
When a song can make you cry... it's a damn good song. Lone is the best!

This song makes me feel like diving really deep into a huge body of water as Lara Croft. I love it.

I love the specificity of this and I totally get it 😂
This is what it feels like to die with the people you love beside you.

added to my "music to die beside people i love" playlist
I'd prefer to think it's more the feeling of being surrounded be loved ones on a dreamy, dusty morning. Death is not in this song, I know that much.
CHILL FAM

This piece creates the most peaceful scenery that has ever formed in my mind.

Hauntingly beautiful. Thank you lone for creating this atmospheric piece.
The best album yet!
Well executed song-title pairing. Near perfect, I'd say.
Before looking up the title, I felt a longing for something, but I didn't know what. I still don't know, but now that I know what the word means, the music makes so much more sense.
Oh Praise be. ❤
I wish they would put more of his music on video games!
Lone's music would be fitting for a new WipEout.
