Would have been nice to do the pin only first and then the ring. Everyone knows what a pin does, but there is nothing out there on the ring other than seat of the pants.
If you are increasing the distance between the cap and the base and then adding internal shims surely that just balances it out to how it was originally set more or less?

It's not too bad, I mean Defenders for instance have quite a good stock cooling system so it won't cook anything unless you're ragging it. Best idea would be to upgrade intercooler and set up a few more gauges to make sure the temperatures are good
Hi, how valid this can be when you do 30-50 in the second and third gear and after the installation you are doing the same test only in third gear? So your gain is actually shifting time lost in the second measuring..
fitted one today (boost pin already installed) if anything the engine is a little rougher and although it picks up a liitle quicker / lower down in the rpm theres no chance it adds 25%
I just installed a Boost pin two days ago. What a difference. I just installed the boost ring....I really can’t tell a difference. Maybe it’s more smooth in the higher RPMs, but it’s hard to tell. I hit 700 C on my EGT pretty easily just at the top of 3rd gear. What do I do next? Not much smoke.
Matthew Downes I have talked with a few other owners and my top speed is 122 km maxing EGTs. I was told by another guy whobhad the same problem that once he installed new injectors, he went from 120 top speed to 145 easy. Given the higher miles on the engine and lack of maintenance from previous owners I believe this might be a good next step.

How does the boost ring affect smoking? I noticed my 300Tdi disco smokes under load with a boost pin in and I was wondering if adding a ring would make it worse. Especially with the upcoming changes to the MOT rules.
The boost pin is the only part that would increase fuel consumption because it lets in more fuel. However the argument is that you get an earlier boost from the turbo so it counteracts it, for instance short and heavy blasts will use more, whereas motorway mpg will be better. The boost ring only increases combustion by adding more pressure, so in principle it's probably increasing mpg rather than decreasing...

what about boost pin, boost ring, hybrid turbo, gas flowed inlet/outlet large intercooler and open race pipe? 25%.... no more like 50!

Hybrid turbo and bigger intercooler 👌 the Hybrid turbo should lower EGTs if you run the stock 15psi

@@deuskariisa3382 Factory injectors, but I just had Bosch rebuild them. That made a large difference. My EGTs go up quick still

The boost ring will improve the smoke, as it allows a more complete burn 'inside the cylinder. that's what gives the power
How about real world figures for people who do not use outsized MT tyres? The gearing upset caused by them can be huge

Good vid only the gain from 30 to 50 is 0.7 sec not 1.5 sec.....Still a good gain though.....Sold :-)
We've both got it wrong Bandit. If you watch again. The number was 5.08, not 5.8, which is a 1.42
