i'd like to hear her play El Circo, or En Los Tiempos de Don Simon, El Barrilito, Monterrey, El Pavido Navido, Juan Colorado, etc. All that music is in our blood!
Good to hear her story, but hopefully she has some tutorials so we can also learn how to play the accordion too. I hear that when the Bass was introduced into tejano music,the Bass buttons on the L side/hand, were no longer played by many musicians. I agree, it is very difficult to work with any one who is a "man"=." Most of the time you are seen as a sex object, or someone inferior to them, or whatever the case many be but, there's NEVER a level of equality, and like Racism, women will never be considered equal to men.
I agree that the more women you hire to perform tasks which were once male-dominated, your market will open up to women who want to learn what they once couldn't because of stigma, bias, taboo, whatever! Id be interested to know if she has any problem playing now that she's older (bec. of arthritis, finger deformity, etc)? Where does she see herself in 5 more years?
INteresting story about rape, sex, drugs, degradation by managers, audience or even members of the band. Very sad to hear all this, but hopefully, she kicked their SSSSS!
