Is Dichloromethane, xylene, and toluene a problem with all of waterdrops RO filters in varying degrees due to residual chemicals from their manufacturing process? In particular I was concerned about the G3p600.
Yes please name go through all the units that put the chemicals after the filter process. I'm going to have to get the AquaTru . I have the Frizzlife RO under sink one. I see in the report it puts in that chemical.
I was going to purchase the water drop A1 and did not after your review. Could you let me know what is preferred brand and model that should be considered?
At those levels is it a true DO NOT BUY situation? I live in the uk and although aquapur is now available i dont like how low the dispensing tap is and the no hot or cold. As its alot of money id like to change out the kettle for this reason and only have 1 appliance (uk house kitchen size being much smaller) with the other tests showing such small amounts is it not possible that the filter just didnt get cleaned enough on the initial vleaning flushing phase?
Based on the test reports for the updated A1 version the leaching does not exceed even the strictest health guideline. So I wouldn't say it's not a true do not buy situation, but it's also definitely not ideal.
On BOS water you recommend the water drop under sink tankless system. I’m assuming this means the new systems don’t have the issues with cancer or chemicals
We're doing an overhaul of the entire website right now so the current version isn't up to date. But we've tested the Waterdrop G3P600 and the X12 here on the channel and they didn't show any signs of leaching.
We have been using the older model - Waterdrop G3P400 for almost 5 years. We just came across this video and now concerned the same thing was happening with this older unit, and hence discontinued. I reached out to Waterdrop, but they do not give any clear answers, but only that they upgraded the G3 systems years ago and they don't have any information on the older models. Is there anywhere I can find information or test results for the older G3P400 units?
Im confused, so the other units you went over in your 11 RO unit coverage video didnt show these chemicals in their respective lab results? Or did they also?
Thanks so much for the update. Most uses of methylene chloride were banned by EPA this year april of '24 but not sure how soon that impact existing manufacturers. Spreadsheets are the best I'm going to review those.🥰 BTW the methylene chloride is on the sheet but most the filters results are blank not filled?
Your lab results for the G3P600 show a very high total bacteria count (>1600 cfu/mL), more than 3x the EPA limit. Is this something I should be concerned about?
I ordered the WaterDrop A1 yesterday, after my purchase I watched your video. I’m very concerned that the company has claimed to have resolved the issue, yet failed to recall affected products. Does this mean they’ve ignored the problem?
If you ordered a new unit I think you should have received the updated version (maybe confirm with Waterdrop?). As for recalling the affected products, that's a good point that I haven't considered to be honest. I think the question would be for how long the chemical leaching persists and where it originates from (like the RO membrane that could easily be replaced).
Love all this information. I am just starting to look into best options. Do you have a video of which filters/systems DO NOT LEACH any chemicals. I have many personal issues and would like to drink the best H20. Thank you again.
Thank you! No, we don't have a video specifically on filters that don't leach. But in our big comparison videos here on the channel, we usually only recommend those water filters that showed no sign of problematic leaching, so maybe you find your answers there.
Would you still recommend purchasing the upgraded version of the A1? I couldn’t find a single countertop RO system that provides cold water other than this one.
I'm also interested in this for similar reasons and I'm also wondering if they have a back log of units when you purchase would you actually get the upgraded version or a unit from the warehouse that was made pre update
