This hobby of ours is quite the roller-coaster experience. Would you call my obsession with chasing original watch designs a pathological one? Is admitting that I have a problem the first step towards recovery? So many questions! ;) 🥃
Perfectly understand your obsession with originals .. only thing I'm asking myself about your collection, as far as I know it, and mine, whether it's a bit redundant.. why not adding a say Reverso Chronograph or any other dress watch?
Was having this conversation with a buddy this week. He said, "man, you should be going after a Reverso 1931" and he's absolutely right 😆 Boils down to finances obviously (I've been extremely lucky finding most pieces at prices waaay under retail) but then its maybe my age, I'm not that driven to pursue a dress piece just yet. Seeing what JLC is doing with their Reverso's though... that skeleton chrono. Talk about an update! 🔥@@JimWestrich
Thank you for voicing your desire to obtain original watch designs. I have been thinking the same thing about myself. There are so many watches to choose from but not many that embody something original. I find that having this mindset helps me separate the wheat from the chaff (hopefully I used that saying correctly…). Great video. You have become a favorite content creator of mine since I started down this silly watch rabbit hole a year ago.
62MAS has always been my favourite "look" in a vintage style skin diver from all brands...it's got something special, something Japanese about it something pure and honest. Coincidentally I am sharing my year review with my SLA later tonight as well..good timing Excellent Video as always brother and enjoy that little gem🥃
Great review! I couldn’t agree more. My SJE093 is one of seven in my well curated collection and I enjoy it as much as my Daytona and Cal. 321 Speedy. When you compare its price to these two it’s a bargain. Cheers 🍻
Build quality is just exceptional. And it's the small things like how they've addressed the crystal, crown, plots... man. It's such a great package. Also love reading how your "tight" collection has a piece like this in it. Stellar! Thank you for sharing Scott 🥃
This is a companion for life. It’s glorious. In the grand scheme of things it’s a fair bit of money but worth every penny if it’s the one for you. I. Am. So. Tempted
Great to hear this review, after and slightly in spite of your previous review of the SJE093 I bought this wonderful time piece about a month ago. I’ve had half a dozen Omega Seamasters (no co-axials), currently I’ve got a Seamaster 2254.50 & a Seiko SPB143. I’m parting with them. The SJE093 is the one. Thanks for your review.
Accuracy... regulation (certified, Grand Seiko standards)... the 8L35 seems like a "transitional" movement if they're competing with Longines, Tudor, they'd better up they're game?
So glad you've got to own a high-end Seiko. They are fantastic and because of limited numbers, not widely appreciated. The SLA recreations (and Alpinist and King Seiko's) were absolutely fantastic quality and this looks no different. People slate Seiko for its LEs (your Blancpain analogy is good), but the fact is that they are fantastic watches, nothing like the standard production pieces. My view on the SJE093 is that it is an exceptional watch, easily superior to a Tudor/Longines level piece, but with such true heritage. If you like small skin divers! Despite being a huge Seiko fan, I can't say I'm a huge 62MAS fan, especially in its original size - for me Seiko divers begin with the '68 Hi Beat. That was where they stopped copying the Swiss and started innovating. And defined a design direction that remains today. A SJE range would be interesting - lower quality movements than the 8R55 or 8L35 in the SLAs, but more accessible in price.
The comparison shot of the 54, Zenith, and 62 is great. I like all three but the Seiko some how wins out. Thanks for your videos, always look forward to the next one.
So interesting seeing them together… honestly, I feel too spoilt for choice (way too many options to choose from) Another thing, it’s very hard to make the 62MAS look ugly 😆 Thank you so much for this Randy 🥃
I remember having a conversation with you congratulating me on my purchase of the sla043. So congrats to you on getting a beautiful version. These seikos are very special, i still love mine even if its not as accurate as my tudor . Great vid as always and im glad youve seen the light, and finally got one .
This 62MAS is one of THE classic Seiko designs of all time, one of the THE classic watch designs of all time. I didn’t grow up with the brand either. At a brand level Seiko is not special to me (I’ve tried love it, but…nope). That said the execution of the SJE093 is superb, very nearly pure (no craziness rating required 😉), which when side by side with the BB54 places the Tudor in the shade IMHO, at least in appearance. The 62MAS has a visual gravitas all its own. The Seiko is perhaps over-priced. But then again all luxury watches are overpriced, and that’s the orbit Seiko now wants to take. Thanks for another great upload 👍
My dad had a Seiko Sports 100 chronograph. I thought it was the coolest watch ever. When I was in college I saved all summer to buy the 20 years newer version Sports 150. Still have it. Still love it!
Such a special thing "aspiring" to have that watch, even subconsciously. No matter the brand, it leaves an indelible mark. Thank you for sharing this David! 🥃
You've sold me on this brother , I just sold my OP 36 and will use that to purchase this extraordinary piece. I had a sla043 in the past but the muted blue dial, the thickness and the all brushed look, something was missing for me emotionally. As soon as I saw this, not only did it correct all the minor gripes of the sla043 I had but it's just speaking to me emotionally, It's a crazy hobby we're in but one thing I've learned is to always go for the watch you really want, because you'll eventually get there anyways. Cheers
And must say, owning an OP myself (of some kind 😉) this SJE gives it a run for its money. Not in the movement accuracy department (at all). Of course it lacks the amazing rolex bracelet and clasp, but size, finishing, gorgeous dial, amazing lume... and all the rest. It feels like a Seiko put together by a few guys from the GS department. Your point is spot-on. Eventually through it all, we get to the watch we wanted in the first place 🥃
I just really love this time period in which watch cases and dials were made simple for manufacture in an attempt of minimising manufacturing defects while still preserving the design's integrity. That is why, in my opinion, the 62mas and Laurel Alpinist speak so much to us while saying so very little with their design cues. Gonna replace the 62 dial on my homage with an aftermarket Laurel no-date one. Hope it turns out well 😂
Congrats! A wonderful addition to your well-considered collection. My own thing is that I tend to like classics with a twist, and my SLA043 serves this role very well. Welcome to the club!
Excellent video! As it turns out, I'm like you: chasing the original design in its purest form. Recently I came across the Praesidus A-11 Type 44 which is the most faithful recreation of the original A-11's from 1942. Owning the Seiko SJE093 would be amazing too. Congrats!
Great video! Love the viewpoint of understanding your likes and dislikes. I’m gonna move off some fantastic pieces not because they’re bad, but because they helped me understand myself better. Cheers 🥃
Thanks for your great review. Don't own the SJEO93 but I don't know what it is with Seiko. Having owned many watches and re-sold many of them I tend to stick to Seiko due to their high quality level. Sometimes even above Rolex....They are in my opinion still "the underdog in the watch Industry". I know it's changing. Just purchased a SBDX017 Marinemaster and I am blowing away with the looks, lume, etc. You are so correct that the SJEO93 is on Grand Seiko level as well as the Marinemasters in my opinion. Thanks for the content.
Man I don’t know if it’s the chicken or the egg situation (I love your taste or my taste is massively influenced by you) but I love your watch collection. I have the FXD, I’ve tried on the BB54 and really like it but can’t decide between that and this Seiko, and that Omega Trilogy is just just sensational. Not to mention the admiration for the Seamaster 2264.50 and Explorer 1/Smiths Everest. I hope you keep producing videos for the foreseeable because I for one love your taste. Didn’t realise they were releasing more of this line next year, sounds incredibly promising. Thank you my man, if I ever bump into you in the UK I will buy you a beer!
I have the sje and the spb. I used the spb for workouts and beater activities. Glad you’re on board for the sje! Questions: what’s the clasp you have on the sje and nato on the bb54?
Yes, you are so right. When the watch came out, I was so tired of the eternal Seiko Limited Editions, the price increases and the quality problems. Apart from my Seiko 65 mas Limited Edition SPB149J1, I had sold all my Seikos. Then slowly the quiet thinking started in my head and in the end I couldn't help but buy the watch. What can I say, it is perfect and gives me exactly the Seiko feeling I was always looking for. Sometimes you have to overcome your prejudices ...
Another great video from undoubtedly one of the best watch channels. I love how thoughtful the flow and script is. Too many very popular channels, namely Teddy Baldassare, are littered with terrible grammar and aimless rambling.
It really means a lot to be appreciated Mike, thank you. Might not look like it, but I always spend a day road-mapping a script or talking points before any recording happens (because I can't stand meandering and repetition - especially while editing) Even during this editing phase I cut 3 minutes from this video by the end because it didn't feel "tight" enough. So yes, I know what you mean 100% 😉
Weirdly enough this watch was on my internal debate station yesterday and had me looking to buy. Regardless of my >8” wrist, the vintage feel and look makes it an all time classic and modern badass. Thanks for the video and sharing your thoughts!
As always a great video. What you have really shown is that you are a "real" watch guy. You had the wherewithall to try another Seiko, which was twice the price along with the hype and actually followed your journey, erasing any name that was on the dial. Your search was to only find what was pure, authentic You deserve your reward of a fine, pleasing watch. Be well.
I found my favourite Seiko reissue recently, the SBDX003, a limited run from back in 2000 based on the 6215 7000, subtle gold accents, muted gold text. It speaks to me because it reminds me of the first ‘analogue’ watch my mum bought for me as a child, a Lorus Sports Diver, black with gold accents and a very similar look. Wear your new watch in good health and, as always, a really great video.
Totally agree. Logic told me NO, but my heart said YES. Owned it, sold it, replaced it with the SLA065, but missed the 093. Sold the SLA065 & replaced it with the SJE093. That’s my journey of getting back the right 62MAS.
I have sla043, it is a real stunner and I completely understand your liking of this model What deployant clasp are you using on your Seiko strap. Thank you! I truly enjoy your videos
It's an oxymoron that they can get everything else so perfect. Finishing, dial detail, lume, plots... but the accuracy doesn't meet that level. But hey, there are worse things 😉🥃
Great well thought out video as always. You have that rare quality where you are simply both engaging and relaxing to listen to. Beauty of a watch, still the 54 for me I reckon but no denying how great this seiko is
As I said on insta too, but at the end of the day, we buy things we find attractive, movements and stuff be damned lol, this seiko is so... retro yet timeless in a good way. I like it!
Amazing review! I think the SJE093 and the BB54, or even more broadly, high end (non-grand) Seiko and Tudor, are almost opposite in their characters. Seiko with their unique designs and beautiful finishing but shoddy QC and enigmatic regulation/accuracy really puts me off their watches (after owning many). They are like a Mercedes S class with a 4 cylinder diesel. You get everything you expect from a luxury car, but can't help but disappointed by what's beneath the bonnet/dial.
And the worst part? I bought the SJE with the intention of selling the BB54 as the replacement... but seeing them together, it's very difficult to rationalise what to do 😆 Also considering I believe the next gen BB58 will look eerily similar to our 54's (just with a few small tweaks) but this 54 design is pretty much as close as we're going to get a 1:1 original for some time... decisions, decisions 🥃
@ID-Guy I've done the same thing where I make an agreement with myself, but I end up keeping both watches. A note about my 54, though. I'm not sure if anyone has experienced this. Was on a wait list for 54 for 6 months. Got the call a few weeks ago. Long story short, I had the watch home for a day and noticed the 3 o'clock baton marker was slightly crooked. Brought it back to the AD, and they sent it to Tudor. They conceded to the AD that it was ever so slightly crooked but 'within tolerance.' Waiting to see if they will swap dial, but have the feeling they won't.
You're a legend Junior. Thank you sir. I really hope you watch hobby meandering isn't as bad as mine... sticking with a classic Date-just is more than great 😉🥃
I own my grandads original seiko sportsmatic which uses the same handset and movement as this one and came out at the same time. Because of this lots of them are cannibalised for parts for the 62mas. Difference being no dive bezel. Its a beautiful watch, the grey sunburst dial is amazing and I still wear it now almost 60 years on. They're cool watches
I can relate. I always had appreciated Japanese watches but started collecting Swiss and German. After some time I wanted to put my money where my mouth is after recommending Seikos to my friends as an entry to the hobby and bought an Alpinist. Since then it's mostly Seiko for me.
Absolutely gorgeous watch! Especially to a Seiko fanboy like me. And the accuracy of your particular example is surprisingly good. -2 to +5 secs is even within COSC specification, no?
Yeah it’s a tough video for sure this one. I love Seiko and own quite a few although like many other people Seiko has been a journey in itself which has led me down the rabbit hole into so many wonderful brands and models. I always recommend Seiko to people looking for a good watch for £400 -£600 but after that price so many others come into play. I appreciate the 62 mas but do I need one? It’s a no from me for now. I’ll keep my alpinist, turtle and monster they are fun watches. Thanks for all your work. 👍
Geez, missed the launch of this one. I don' think there are any left. Anyway, one of the watch department guys showed me the blue dial SLA today and at the retail price, it's a no. Then he says, from Monday, they´re putting on a Black Friday discount of 30%. Reserved immediately. Gonna be an upgrade to my 143.
Man just a quick little comment and I'll watch soon. Loving the CWC G10. A proper little gem... makes me feel calm finally. I can enjoy a simple watch that didn't cost much, but has a bucket load of charm... I wonder what's next
I tell you, field watches are a deep rabbit hole. Seeing my gorgeous '69 W10 (at the start of the video)... man I miss that watch. Genuinely could be an only watch. BUT it had to go to make room for everything else... I learnt over time that acrylic crystal made watches less enjoyable for me to wear (because I'd scratch them up) - trust me, some amazing, amazing gems out there 😉
@@ID-Guy man, I'm just gonna take it slow now. I may sell the IWC and just patiently save up, until I decide on a really special piece But wearing the G10.. man... it almost feels like I don't need anything else , and financial security seems possible now ha ha I wonder when l'll start craving the Explorer again.... you know its gonna happen P.s. really sorry you had to let the W10 go man...
There really is something special about them - they have to be experienced to be fully appreciated. Thank you for sharing this brother! Fantastic idea, two brothers having the same pieces 🥃
I bought the gold and stainless version of the Rolex Submariner (with a blue dial) for my 67th birthday, and I don't regret it even though it cost more than half the price of my car. It's nice that you can always sell a Rolex if you have to, but I know I never will. Might as well buy what you really want instead of making excuses all your life why you can't.
Thanks for another incisive discourse on this very interesting watch. Two great takes form this video: "Never compromise on that vision" - so true! And also I think, reading between the lines "The Devil is in the Detail". Thanks again, cheers!!
agreed with everything you have said ,both pros and cons..i also didnt grow up owning them..but that design language seems imbedded in my memory..i am not in the same financial space to own this badboy..but yesterday morning i picked up a new padi samurai with the ocean blue dial...i literally just got rid of my other king samurai with the black waffle dial!...i think you have really touched on the point of,once we see a design we like ,we steer towards the perfected version of that design...so addictive and often financially unhealthy......but try telling me that this morning, with me constantly turning my wrist in the sunlight.....staring lol top video mate!
Think you summed up my video far better than I could. Steering towards that "perfect" example of a design. Brilliant! This pickup for me was another one that happened out of the blue (definitely wasn't prepared for it) And did it with the idea that the Tudor BB54 would be sold... but now seeing them together... extremely, extremely difficult. The worst part about having these "perfect" designs... makes it so much hard if it comes time to sell. Dreading the day if it happens "It's not just an El Primero" or "it's not just a Seiko" 🥃 Thank you for this Jackdaw 😉 Have a superb time with your "King Samurai" - its one helluva piece!
True, a roller coaster. But I heard somewhere those things are fun. ;) I've always admired the El Primero. Both the story and especially the tricolor A386 and A3817. I wound up buying a preowned Zenith Chronometer Original last year. It's a great watch and while original in name, my heart wasn't in it so I let it go after about 6 months. And coincidentally, I just purchased a preowned SPB143 that arrives on Monday as I've always wanted to try the 62MAS. At just over $500, maybe the price can convince the heart. Great video as always. Enjoy the journey.
Thank you for this Ryan. It really is a journey... AND please don't take my thoughts on the SPB to heart. It is a fantastic watch... it bugs me that these SJE's aren't regular production for everyone to experience because there does feel like there's a distinction between one and another. But man, enjoy the piece! Wear the hell out of it (the diashield coating is bulletproof) 😉
@@ID-Guy Not at all, those thoughts are of course ... yours. And for me, it think this is a different scenario. You're spot on that I do plan to wear the hell out of it. For me ... the $500 preowned price point allows me to wear it not just weekends, but on the snow, mountain hikes, and more. Something I would not likely do with the more expensive (for me) SJE093 or vintage 62MAS. Should be fun.
Totally understand your love for original designs, i recently bought both the caliber 321 speedy and a the reissue of the tank normale both for retail, chuffed to bits with that!
Wow...wow. Huge congrats Coke! Especially on the Tank Normale. Such an interesting piece! Think what's great about both pieces is the enthusiast will see them and think "Speedmaster and Tank"... but they're not JUST a Speedmaster and a Tank, right? 😉
Congratulations on and getting over your preconceptions about value. And now you can enjoy this amazing watch for its purity, that is your reward for having rational curiosity. This watch is amazing. I own dive watches that should blow it out of the water, including a very limited Fifty Fathoms Act 1. And this Seiko easily stands up to next to it when I hold both in my hands. It's that good, it has a "soul".
I've got both the SPB143 and the SJE093, and each serve a different need and 'feel' quite different from each other. It's been asked a few times in your comments --> What deployment buckle are your sporting on the strap in the video?
Taken a real beating... keep telling myself "it'll sort itself out in a few months" then another piece arrives... BUT 6 watches in, the collection won't be changing at all until next year, probably... 😆 My pleasure to share these Rich!
My previous comment on ur video... I think, most people is a bit hard on seiko... people always compare 62mas vs Tudor BB.. if you google Tudor Black bay ... they have more models than 62mas........ I’m just so angry that this was an LE. This stunning watch will not be made in this exact design again. Make it expensive, that’s fine, but make it AVAILABLE. I didn’t have the money to get one of these when they first came out and by the time I do I imagine pre-owned prices will have soared past my abilities.
I've always wanted to add a Seiko to my collection, but haven't yet. There is one that caught my eye early in but due to the limited nature, will most likely be always admired from afar. The Seiko Prospex Shogun Zimbe: SPN057J. Congrats on the Seiko, and great content as always. Cheers!
It is a cool looking watch but i couldn't really dip again as i'm an owner of a SLA017. I plumped for the modern reinterpretation instead this time around. The SLA067 compliments my other piece rather nicely. That being said this is the closest to realising the original & as such is probably Seiko's finest release yet.
Had I not purchased an SLA065 I would have tried to get hold of one of these. The 065 scratches my itch, and I'm happy with the accuracy, fit and finishing.
I have the pogue and the 62mas. And a bunch of seiko 5s not for collecting but to reminice, they are like a journal of my life. Probably sell them before i die
I’ve owned pretty much everything from Swiss Legend to Patek. My favourite watch ever is my SLA037, something about the design and execution is just special
Hello, what deployment buckle is that and did it fit with the original rubber strap? I'm currently considering buying a new SLA043, which is this watch but with the blue dial. I think it would look great with that buckle.
Your videos are so dangerous for me. I end up buying! I just bought the Tudor FXD last weekend. I'm much like you, I desire the new production of the original design. I have been thinking about this SJE093 since it came out. I think you just pushed me over the fence. My only reservation is what you commented on, precision. But I find Seiko usually understates its accuracy and then over-delivers on the actual performance. Cheers!
Nice review, funny I own the zenith, BB54 and purchased two SJE093 one for my son, I totally love original design. But prefer recreation with robust modern materials and testing techniques that were not possible way back in the day. Closing a deal early this week H. moser pioneer center second in blue fume dial 40mm case a 2023 release.
I did NOT see that coming, but I think it's a great pick up. I think it's a great looking watch, and appreciate your examination of the details. I like the 40mm size of the 2017 SLAs, but would be pleased if they were a bit thinner like this model.
I have a 6105-8119 (born April 1973) and a 6306-7001 (born January 1978), both nicely restored, so if I could find an original 62MAS, I suppose I might want one...
Great job and congrats. That’s a man’s watch even at 38; the sharp edges at the lugs. Surprised you didn’t show it on a NATO. That lume is ridiculous. Should shame the rest of the watch OEMs.
I have the spb143 and sje093 and neither of them replaces the other. The spb was never intended to have the original 62mas with the thin bezel. It’s a modern reinterpretation and I still love it just as much even with the sje in the collection.
You comment on the SPB was spot on. I bought an SPB myself because I wanted a modern 62MAS and it was the shortest ever honeymoon I ever had with a watch. The accumulation of small differences in the bezel, the indices, the handset, the lack of signed crown or framed date window, all these small things together with a different blank space ratio caused by larger diameter were just enough to tip the SPB straight into uncanny valley. It was not a 62MAS and every attempt I made to take it closer just made it worse. I'm glad that you found your 62MAS but at the price and production numbers it is offered, it's still not the affordable and widely available modern 62MAS that I was looking for and maybe there will never be one coming from Seiko.
It seemed we have had a similar journey.. my first Seiko was also a SPB143 purchased 3 years ago to take over daily duties from an Omega 2254 which had just been serviced and refinished... It just wasn't the 62MAS I wanted though, so I recently picked up an SLA043 which I absolutely love... Recently picked up a grail piece Omega CK2998 pulsometer to celebrate an important milestone... similar Newman Daytonaish style like your Zenith, but something about that Seiko makes we want to reach for it all the time. It's my most worn piece... The 5% makes all the difference..
Interesting journey you had there. I'm glad yours runs accurately. Speaking of 1 to 1 recreations i wonder why (Grand) Seiko never followed up on one of their other original designs, the Weekdater with its 6 o'clock day, i think it looks great. GS doesn't have a DayDate equivalent, in fact modern GS only has one! model with both a day and date and it's some obscure anniversary quartz with the more usual 3 o'clock placement. I always wondered why don't they bring it back. Could you look into it (if it interests you of course), or maybe do a video on different implementations of the day and date complication in watches in general? I'd love to hear your take on it. PS: A fellow Tag Heuer Carerra enjoyer noticed that the 6218 has a pretty similar case to it, and they were both made around the same time, who copied whom, if at all? Have a nice day!
Great video about a great watch. I also have an FXD and you showed a blue and white strap with a deployment clasp on yours which looks really good. What make is it? Thanks
I am in the same position as you were I have a SPB143 but I don't feel like it is the the true 62 MAS and now I am thinking of getting the SJE093 but also questioning myself what difference will I feel when I wear it
This hobby of ours is quite the roller-coaster experience.
Rather than the originals I prefer the sweet spots. 5513, 1016, 1675, 16520
No arguing there... finding pieces when the brand truly is "in their stride", I can 100% get on board with this! 🔥@@rickfowler3710

Great critique and discussion. Wow! The SJE093 really puts the SPB143 to shame despite the similarities. It really is so different!
it’s more than 3x the price, they’re not in the same price tier.
@@d.kashani excatly puts it to shame but not x3
I remember having a conversation with you congratulating me on my purchase of the sla043. So congrats to you on getting a beautiful version. These seikos are very special, i still love mine even if its not as accurate as my tudor .
Great vid as always and im glad youve seen the light, and finally got one .
I really think Seiko when they do it correctly can beat anyone out there. Great video brother 😁👍🏽 Hope the feeling lasts with this one.
And no slow motion intros of him wearing turtlenecks and playing with his hair like Teddy ;)
Your search was to only find what was pure, authentic
You deserve your reward of a fine, pleasing watch.
Be well.
62MAS is a legendary watch, only one I want from Seiko really.
Undoubtly a piece with a very intelligent desing and atemporal. The greatness from Seiko.
Saludos!
I always appreciate your thoughts and opinions. Excellent video as always. Have a great weekend!🥃
I have sla043, it is a real stunner and I completely understand your liking of this model
What deployant clasp are you using on your Seiko strap.
Thank you!
I truly enjoy your videos
The vintage seikos, in particular, like the 62mas, tuna, Willard, etc. definitely have a mystique and an allure unlike anything else. Awesome piece!
What deployant and strap do you have on your SJE?
Excellent video! I own a 62MAS, and I enjoy wearing it. Yes, the accuracy is frustrating to say the least.
It's an oxymoron that they can get everything else so perfect. Finishing, dial detail, lume, plots... but the accuracy doesn't meet that level. But hey, there are worse things 😉🥃
had my local watchmaker regulate and fix the bezel misalignment on mine, and it's perfect now.
Great well thought out video as always. You have that rare quality where you are simply both engaging and relaxing to listen to. Beauty of a watch, still the 54 for me I reckon but no denying how great this seiko is
Thank you for this Robert! And, the great thing, I've bonded more now with the BB54 as it's become my "daily driver" - such a great lil watch 🥃
This review has me literally considering selling my 54 for this.
@ID-Guy
I've done the same thing where I make an agreement with myself, but I end up keeping both watches.
They conceded to the AD that it was ever so slightly crooked but 'within tolerance.'
Waiting to see if they will swap dial, but have the feeling they won't.
The best watcch channel out there congratulations 🎉
I may sell the IWC and just patiently save up, until I decide on a really special piece
But wearing the G10.. man... it almost feels like I don't need anything else , and financial security seems possible now ha ha
I wonder when l'll start craving the Explorer again.... you know its gonna happen
P.s. really sorry you had to let the W10 go man...
I own sla037 and my Brother sla043 these watches have some thing very special love your videos from paris
There really is something special about them - they have to be experienced to be fully appreciated. Thank you for sharing this brother! Fantastic idea, two brothers having the same pieces 🥃
I agree, no compromise. Great review, very nice watch. What deployant clasp are you using?
I bought the gold and stainless version of the Rolex Submariner (with a blue dial) for my 67th birthday, and I don't regret it even though it cost more than half the price of my car. It's nice that you can always sell a Rolex if you have to, but I know I never will. Might as well buy what you really want instead of making excuses all your life why you can't.
Thanks for another incisive discourse on this very interesting watch. Two great takes form this video: "Never compromise on that vision" - so true! And also I think, reading between the lines "The Devil is in the Detail". Thanks again, cheers!!
agreed with everything you have said ,both pros and cons..i also didnt grow up owning them..but that design language seems imbedded in my memory..i am not in the same financial space to own this badboy..but yesterday morning i picked up a new padi samurai with the ocean blue dial...i literally just got rid of my other king samurai with the black waffle dial!...i think you have really touched on the point of,once we see a design we like ,we steer towards the perfected version of that design...so addictive and often financially unhealthy......but try telling me that this morning, with me constantly turning my wrist in the sunlight.....staring
lol top video mate!
Dreading the day if it happens "It's not just an El Primero" or "it's not just a Seiko" 🥃 Thank you for this Jackdaw 😉 Have a superb time with your "King Samurai" - its one helluva piece!
many thanks mate!....heres to everyone else that appreciates this dilemma!(as first world as that sounds!lol)@@ID-Guy
@@ID-Guy if you know you know, i definitely know! and that’s all that matters.
And that's the real beauty at the end of it all. You know what makes it significant 🥃@@CokeWithIceAndLemon
Thanks for all the great videos lately. You’re bank account has taken a real beating these last few months.
Taken a real beating... keep telling myself "it'll sort itself out in a few months" then another piece arrives... BUT 6 watches in, the collection won't be changing at all until next year, probably... 😆 My pleasure to share these Rich!

As always, a great video
Cheers!
Excellent review. This is indeed a beautiful timepiece
It is beautiful. Looking forward to seeing the Willard equivalent.
Very thoughtful, very well articulated. Enjoyed every bit of it ❤
My pleasure to share Felix, and thank you! 🥃
It is a cool skin diver, and I agree on your pursuit of originality.
So maybe I'm not the only one who's mad 😉 Thank you JT. These original models man... they hit differently 🥃
“Please rate my craziness in the comments”
LMAO - nothing better encapsulates watch collecting than this sentiment. You do you, brother!
Let's face it, we all need to be heavily medicated and institutionalised 😆🥃 Love it!
Another great video, IDG. The privilege is ours.
Love how you presented this. Dankie boet
My pleasure bru, thank you for taking the time to watch the clip! 🥃
I just began the precise journey you’ve taken. Just traded my SPB143 in for the 62Mas, what have I done? 💪🏻⌚️
What deployment clasp do you have? And where do you get them
It's a wonderful seiko, and classic, here to stay looks. Well done
I wonder if these divers will catch on? 😉 Thank you Craig. Yet again, one of those happy accidents…
It's always the details for me. The little things that many might pay little -to-no mind to. Pedants rule!🧐
Great purchase !!
I’d love to hear your view on the SLA57
Brilliant speaking, I am impressed.
Great review! Excellent video! I own SPB 143. Great watch. Does Seiko sell just the strap?
I always learn so much from your videos - thank you 🙏
My SLA-043 is excellent. Love the design. Runs 10 sec/day fast on the 8L35 movement
Gotta love that accuracy 😉 But man... design... absolutely spot-on 🥃
It seemed we have had a similar journey.. my first Seiko was also a SPB143 purchased 3 years ago to take over daily duties from an Omega 2254 which had just been serviced and refinished...
Let's face it. It's a stunner. Congrats.
It's very, very, very hard to not find something to praise about it... hell, when Seiko delivers they REALLY deliver 🥃
@@ID-Guy
I adore grey dials!!
Have you seen the IWC Portuguese
Rosegold grey dial?? Daaamn,so hottt. Anyway,be well.
Seamaster 300 57, BB54 & this 62 Mas…. The perfect trio of mid century diver reissues.
Epic video mate!
Looks very much like you are enjoying your time deep down in the rabbit hole. Enjoy my friend , Enjoy.
It's a very deep, perilous and convoluted rabbit hole 😉 Thank you as always Ian 🥃

I have never been disappointed since I became a customer of gussl. Their timepieces are of exceptional quality.
Great video about a great watch. I also have an FXD and you showed a blue and white strap with a deployment clasp on yours which looks really good. What make is it? Thanks
That's a beautiful watch. I have a Seiko SLA049 Willard that's one of my favorites.
A wish from a 70+ y/o Seiko fan - (1) chronometer (regulated, optimal QC, match COSC), (2)
I am in the same position as you were I have a SPB143 but I don't feel like it is the the true 62 MAS and now I am thinking of getting the SJE093 but also questioning myself what difference will I feel when I wear it
I’d sell the BB54 now you own the Seiko. Beautiful timepiece 👌
I wanted to buy one but I realized I was just chasing a vintage blancpain bathyscaph
This watch is tempting me but I think I'll stick to the spb143. It has successfully kept me from buying any new watches for 3 years now
