great for Kakko, he finally gets on a team who KNOWS HOW TO DEVELOP YOUNG PROSPECTS. Obviously horrible for the rangers, but you gotta be happy for Kakko for being able to walk away from the raging fire.
As a Kraken fan, I'm pretty excited. This move reminds me of the Tolvanen pickup. I'll miss Borgy, though-he's a solid, gritty defensive defenseman. As skilled as our backline is, there aren't many players like him.
It's funny because what he said about him getting scratched instead of the real problem (Zib) and at times Kreider. Both his play and metrics were way better with Kakko.
I'm From Turku Finland, Kaapo's home town, i feel this player has much more to offer offensively and Krakens will be glad to have him. Fantastic that this finally happened. So is nice to see Krakens games also regulary:)
As a very disheartened Rangers fan, Chris Drury needs to be removed from his position immediately. I’ve never seen a more lackluster, boneheaded job of managing and leading from anyone in a front office position ever. It started in the summer with the offloading of Barclay Goodrow, a solidified team leader, for nothing. All while running your captain through the mud with (way too public) trade talks. But, we got off to a hot start, great. Then, the team has a bad week of hockey (as every team will throughout the course of a season) and he sends out a memo with the message to the players being “Play well or I’m going to trade you.” And then he ships off our captain by essentially blackmailing him into waiving his trade clause and accepting a trade. In all his infinite wisdom, he thinks that decision is going to somehow not hurt or fracture the locker room. Now it feels like we’re a rebuilding team, because we have an incompetent leader at the helm. This team won the Presidents Trophy last year. Went to the Eastern Conference Final two out of the last three years. A bad week of hockey and the “change of direction” Chris Drury wants is to ship off, or at least threaten to ship off, all the guys who created our consistent success over the past four years. I can’t, with a good conscience, hold the players responsible for how they’ve been playing the past month. It’s got to be difficult to perform and do your job when you’re constantly looking over your shoulder to see if you’re getting traded or not. What an embarrassment of a GM he is. It’s at the point where I want to see guys get traded, just so they can get out of the most unhealthy organization in the league right now and get a fresh start. I’m happy Kaapo is going to have a chance to prove his skills elsewhere, because he deserves the opportunity. As for Will Borgen, he now has my undying support, but welcome to the shit show buddy.
i feel like a lot of teams would have given up a depth defenseman and some junk picks for a former #2 overall. rangers seem like they're massively mismanaged lately.
Matty Beniers is losing a landlord, but otherwise, I like the trade for the Kraken. They need help up front and have blue line depth to spare. If it works out as well as picking up Tolvi did, I'll love the trade.
The amount of dedication you have to put out all these videos for every bit of news around the league! You keep me updated more than the actual NHL app 😭 Thanks so much!
So they traded Kakko because he probably hurt someone's feelings by calling out the team's bullshit? Great work, Rags. Bunch of muppets running this team.
Well Ranger fans got what they wanted. Kakko gone. I’m happy for Kakko he’s off this dumpster fire of a team. Always liked Kakko and wish him nothing but the best in Seattle. Now with that being said. I don’t want to hear any complaints from rangers fans when Kakko develops into a 25-30 goal scorer 60 point guy on Seattle. You guys all got your wish.
Never wanted kakko gone myself. If we got somebody like montour out of this trade I would be happier but we this dude with 2 points and a -13 rating….sickkkkk
Didn’t see anyone who wanted him gone, although I’m sure there were some. For me, I was behind the kids and the treatment of the players and the poor development of the kids has lost me as a fan. Until Dolan dies I’m all Flames now.
