I am 76 years old and I am planing to go to Singapore and Indonesia. I heard about safetywing insurance is good for covering the COVID but unfortunately they don’t have a plan for my age. Thanks for the advise
Hello Tie Tan. How long will you be in Asia? The reason I ask is because when I was in Bali for more than 3 months the insurance I purchased was much different from the insurance I would normally purchase for a shorter vacation.
@@tietan867 ok. I would suggest Allianz then. They will have great coverage for your age/destinations. If you plan an renting a scooter while there make sure you get a policy that's covers accidents as well (I personally didn't ever have bad accidents but you never know).
Great video l am in my 50s and traveling to Mexico this Fall for two weeks. I am looking travel insurance primarily for the medical 🏥 l am pretty healthy but just in case because l know my US medical coverage isn’t valid in Mexico. Thanks 🙏🏾 for sharing.
Thank you for watching. I have to say although Allianz is one of the higher priced companies out there, there is a reason why. I have had to file a few claims this year for passengers and I never have to jump through any hoops. I file the claim and in a short amount of time my passengers have their checks. I really appreciate how painless they make it and their medical coverage is one of the best.
It's also very important to understand if a travel insurance plan is "Primary" or "Secondary" where medical coverage is concerned. Primary pays out first.
In 2022 Allianz won't cover covid diagnosis if you're going to an event like a concert though. I missed out on a concert because I contracted covid but they said it wasn't a covered benefit. Smh
I’m going to Europe for 2 weeks in august and haven’t bought my insurance yet because I can’t figure out which company to use. I’m young, backpacking and want Covid cancellation coverage. And Canadian so safetywing was a no-go for me. Any recs? How about worldnomads?
Have you had a chance to go to insuremytrip.com? You will be able to find insurance that will cover you with the coverage your looking for. Second, try Allianz.
ok, great video...BUT....i have waited until the last minute not really realizing you have to purchase when you book. now, i have 6 cruises booked for the next year. no pre existing conditions as defined, but hubby does take meds for hypertension. what now....i am thinking of an annual plan but to put out around 600 bucks all at once up front was a sticker shock to me. now, i am not sure what to do. we had a member of our travel party need medical evac and let me tell you...she is still fighting with the cruiseline about it and did not purchase insurance. now she is never allowed to cruise with them again (btw, she is in the wrong, but that is another issue. my takeaway is buy insurance. i just did NOT realize i needed it within 14 days of booking, and yes, i use a TA all the time. sad face for me.)
6 cruises booked for next year? YES shell out the $600 because just think of the THOUSANDS you could lose. Before getting the annual (which I still think you should since you have more than 2 trips its worth it) talk to your TA as sometimes, depending on how big the agency is, you can still purchase the travel insurance up to final payment. I recently read about someone stuck in I believe Jamaica. She was on cruise, had a medical emergency and can't leave the island she is on as it cost $40k to get back home (medical evacuation) to the States and she didn't have insurance.
So hypertension controlled with meds. Long standing. One md visit per yr. Is this considered pre existing if it is not a problem...ie controlled with meds?
@@SoYouWannaTravel before I shell out 600 bucks only to be told hubby ineligible due to controlled hypertension....I would like opinions and experiences from others, thx.
@@sherikennedy4117 I would not have the answer to that. I would suggest just giving the insurance company a call. They are very helpful and can break down the pre existing conditions.
@@sherikennedy4117 I completely understand. For sure just give them a call. I personally have not had any push back from Allianz on any claims this year but each situation will be different.
Wouldn't it make sense to wait until you buy the insurance so if cancel the trip for a full refund you are not out the insurance money. From what I have read, you only have about 15 days to get your money back once you purchase the insurance.
Great question. Most insurance companies only will give you a full refund on your vacation if you have purchased the insurance at the same time you put your deposit down. So it would really depend on the time frame you booked your vacation. However, most insurance companies also have the rule that you have to purchase insurance at the time you pay your final payment to get any type of coverage. If you wait 15 days before your trip, you won't have full coverage and possibly none at all. You for sure don't want to book a trip 15 days before you leave as the MAJORITY of the time it will be much more expensive that close to departure.

Only for 10 days in Bali.

I missed travel insurance while booking international flight, how to buy travel insurance now?

Yes this very true. Some of medical insurance won't cover over seas however so that makes it a little easier.

Is there travel insurance available that you can purchase annually?
Yes. If you travel frequently, there is insurance that you can purchase for the full year.

I really didn't used to think of getting insurance but your right. Now with covid it really is necessary.

@@SoYouWannaTravel thanks so much for answering my question. That makes a lot of sense to me. I will look to purchase it maybe a few months out.
Thank you! All my questions are answered!
I'm happy to hear that. If you have any additional just let me know.
Does my medical insurance cover me overseas?
You have to check directly with your insurance company. From my experience its half and half.
wow
I hope that's a "wow" because it helped 😁
