I love how she doesn’t edit out the raw moments of how stressful this can be and how you end up having many mini arguments with your partner over what went wrong. A lot of people choose to make it seem like such an easy, stress free process. Which isn’t always the case. ❤❤

Simply White by Benjamin Moore is one of my go to colors. I am a retired interior decorator & I have used Simply White in so many homes & it never fails. Also, you definitely don’t want to use semi gloss in the entire house. It’s great for a kitchen, it makes cleaning grease etc. easier, but it’s not for every room. I would definitely go with a satin or eggshell finish for the rest of the house. 😊

Eric is so handy!!! Love that you guys did this yourself. We also did our own Renos and it was humbling to say the least lol but you do appreciate it more because literally blood, sweat and tears went into it. Also tests your relationship and makes you guys stronger. If you can Reno together and have a baby together and have not divorced through those times girl you're golden. You found the one hahaha! Also everyone will always recommend eggshell paint but I always pick semigloss so much easier to clean and it's really not that shiny. It looks shiny cause you are side by side to the eggshell. I don't know that's my opinion.

p.s love when Eric vlogs he is so unapologetic its refreshing lol a home reno would not be a home reno without all the mistakes. We had tons too. We had water damage due to a stupid mistake had to cut out drywall and patch the bubbled ceiling lol so it happens to all of us. You have a story to tell afterwards lol
You can’t go wrong with Benjamin Moore - white dove or chantilly lace. I did chantilly lace in my whole house. It’s been a yr, and I’m still obsessed. You’re home is beautiful!! Enjoy!!

If you’re going to do white, I wouldn’t do semi gloss with white. I would do eggshell. It is harder to clean but it looks way better and also, the trims usually are semi gloss or glossy so it weirdly blends in with the walls
Eggshell is the way to go for high traffic places for sure. I have both chantilly lace and white dove in our house and it’s a vibe! Benjamin Moore is my fav ❤ - also getting your house professionally painted is def $$$ we are thankful that my FIL used to paint for a living so we saved ourselves a lot of money
Wow that was a drama packed vlog and then some! Eric is doing such a great job on his vlogging skills and kuddos to him for using the car as a tripod and his handy skills for the ceiling repairs! I really love the chantilly lace, however I can’t wait to see which one you go with. As others have suggested if you can paint it yourself you’ll save yourself so much more money and not have to deal with halfway people doing the job or more home disasters from painting crews and the big messes they can leave behind. I’m eagerly awaiting the next video and seeing y’all’s progress 💜🥰.

thank youuu, honestly I just notice small things like that so I'd rather fill in any holes and or sanding before painting because you'll get a smoother "more perfect" finish. But it's not required alot of ppl just paint over it!
Painting is one of those things that takes a lot of prep but if you buy a paint sprayer you can get a room done in like 30 mins. I highly suggest you go that route instead of hiring that finicky guy. Once you have the paint sprayer you can take your time to pick colors and paint at your leisure rather than the painters capitalizing on your urgency to paint.

Girl, I’m sorry in advance, but you need to slow down:)! I’m the same way, I want to get everything done before I move in somewhere, but I have learned over the years that once I’m living in a space, I end up changing my mind. It’s better to move into the space, live it for a while & then go room by room. It will save you so much hassle, I promise. You’re going to be in this house for a very long time, so just enjoy the process. You remind me so much of myself, ha ha 😊
We just bought a house out here on Long Island ( so you already know we over paid). We found out there is a leak with the main waterline this past weekend. I took the day off to go to the water dept to do some Investigating today, and found out they had sent multiple letters to the previous homeowner. Turns out they didn’t disclose it
Since the house is big and its empty, you can put your furmiture elsewhere and paint. Ex: Put your family room furniture in the living room while painting the family room. Once its dry, then move the furniture, same with the bedroom and office. It may take longer, but it will be less expensive and you'll have another memory to share with your future children.
When the house comes together you’re going to love it, but that process is a headache. It’s so time consuming and expensive! I moved into my house end of June and there are still projects I haven’t gotten to 😅

Bc they only rent it for 3 or 5 days I can’t keep it throughout the entire renovation period which will be longggg! Thank you the shutters look perfect again 😅

You guys may want to ask experts before embarking on unknown territory. Who paints shutters and leave them outside???? I learned that years ago, when I bought my first home. I am sorry Eric, but putting all that bleach in the pool, without running the filter is going to ruin the lining. FYI before closing the pool you have to put chemicals, run the pump for at least 10 hours, then cover the pool. Anyway wishing you guys well. Is all trial and error. Try and do research before doing a task. You guys will be ok.
Guys, show yourselves grace. As first time homeowners, it will be a learning experience for you. Do things when they feel right for you. Just don’t let the stresses of the house cause a divide. ALWAYS keep the lines of communication wide open. And most of all, have fun with it. After all, it is your biggest investment to date. Side note: think about the amount of equity you and Eric will build. 🩵💙

Satin cleans nicely and it helps hide imperfections. My Husband is a painter and that’s what he prefers for interior.

Semigloss is usually for trim & doors. I would go with satin or eggshell for the walls.

I used you tube as a guide whenever I had questions actually I used it a lot and avoided costly mistakes.
