I have 6 Life Skateboards riders. All different shapes and sizes, 169’s and 215’s, and they’re each fun in a different way. I’m 47 and a bowl/park carver, so I don’t miss the pop, but what I love is the different feel you were talking about when you roll one. It’s just different...solid..connected to the terrain....hard to describe. Part skateboard and part a woodworking piece of art.
@@bendegros hi, i am an ebenist 40hour per week and mostly rest of the time i skate.recently i built a press and start to press skateboard deck im riding a board for a mounth now and it resist pretty good.the name of the brand is SkateLounge impress, and i actually cumulate 3 sale in my area here at quebec.u can find me on facebook.the reason i am annoying you with it is that i would be honored that u do a honnest review on my work.if u haven't notice i am a 37 years old guy who speak french and live near montreal, so sorry for my english, thx for your work in general your tine here have a nice day and yea its over...u can go skate...😉
I know one of the guys who make these boards. I was his filmer for 3 years. He is very talented on a board, and VERY picky about board quality. I can assure you that anything he puts work into is quality!
My buddies and I love our Life boards. I have a 9" Stinger shape that I use pretty much just for bowls and larger transition. It just feels so nice to ride on.
Curiosity piqued... always looking for a sturdy deck to try. Nice option! Btw - those no complys you used to not do sure are looking smooth and natural!
Would it be right to compare a deck like this to different guitars? What I mean is, a fender strat is pretty light, the neck to body is completely straight and the neck and fret board and the neck are pretty round. A Gibson Les Paul is heavy, the neck and body slightly wrap around your body and the neck and fret board are pretty flat. They both have pros and cons, but they make me play differently, even play the same tune differently, with a different attitude or precision. The feel is really important to creativity. I always try to ride a different brand of board to feel that difference. It is sometimes challenging for the first couple of hours and don't get me wrong, there are some shit boards out there, but the change is mostly rewarding. It's a different dimension for progression I think. All the best, Rich in Sweden.
You should do a video on board length, comparing a short board (31) to a longer board (32.5) and comparing the difference and explaining the physics of it. I have a feeling you will get more pop on a longer board based on the concept of a longer catapult giving more hurl.
This video, remember me that the 90´s skateboards some of those was made with eight plyes of wood, and I guess you think to try some to understand the pop feeling. It´s looks great. 🤙
Haha they actually make em in 8 ply if ya want it. Sam made one for my son a while back and I have it. It's a BEAST. 8.5 Popsicle 8 ply it'll never die
You should check out stress skateboards. They're a small company and they're boards and graphics are sick. They hand screen each board so it's more intimate.
He asked viewer to do so in couple of videos ago if anything interesting are there. Man, I love stress skateboard too! It would be dope if he do some reviews
Dude I think it'd just take a session or 2 more and he'd notice that the issues his having w the pop would go away. He's trick were so cllleean and he said himself consistent. I'd def de down to lose a lil pop for consistency but that's cause I'm so inconsistent HAHA
@@dummygladhands3156 definitely! I noticed that too. That was the most stylish and clean and relaxed Ben has ever looked on any video that I’ve ever seen of his. Even some of his bales looked smooth.
Have you tried a zero board lately? They are also very thick and sturdy. I have been loving it but don't know the woodshop. Could it possibly be the same one?
Ben - I was just on the canadaskateshop website and was interested in picking up an 8.5". The only sizes listed were 7.75 and 8. Are you getting any 8.5" anytime soon?
thank you ben! youre vids are always interesting. i got 5 abos on yt. youre one of it! please continiou the great work. i learn alot about skating staff and i'm 49! greets from germany
I press my own boards with 1/16 veneers. They come out a little heavy, but I use the super light thunders and they even out the weight. I’m a tech skater and have no problem flipping my board, and rarely break boards now I’m pressing my own

Exactly!!!!
It was made with love!!!!! That’s the difference!!!!
With the lightest truck possible to off-set the heft this might be the best option for the environmentally conscientious.
Ben this was gracious and professional. Thank you very much! Humbled that you have done this.
My pleasure!

Just got back from the Life shop! Love that place. Sam is welcoming and friendly it makes supporting him even better.

I just ordered The Barge 8-ply! Siked to get it in the mail and put Indy 215s and 83mm wheels on it... Big Boi Board

Beautiful comparisons
One of the best skateboarder/reviewers on the internet, I would really like a review on royal trucks if you could.
Sunny day, not that common over here. Then Ben uploads a video, just what's needed to make it perfect. GREAT!
6:32. Dropping it down and starting to roll on it. Yeah definitely had a different sound. A fuller sound. Personally found it very nice.
I like a little hefty board. It oddly helps helps my board control.
I will try and look these guys up. Interested to see what they are all about.
DO IT!! Sam the owner is a great dude and you won't be disappointed.
Big boards are great. I ride an 8.6" x 32" Anti-Hero board. It feels like a magic carpet ride.

I got a double knuckle. Such a sick deck. You can feel the love in it.
I want that noseslide heel :( Great review as always :D
Thanks Toni!!!
I'm glad you immediately acknowledged the question of if its related to the sean sheffey life skateboards because that was my first question.
No they aren't. Got written consent from the dudes themselves to use the name though🤘
This company is around 45 minutes away from where I live
I’ve got a Life 1990 and a Big Twin both. Serious curb crushers and fun as shit on mini half.
Cool! I just got One of those boards, works really good with ventures low and some 52 mm wheels plus the adidas superstars and a slippier griptape
Great to hear!
Ben could you make a full review about Andy Anderson deck :D
@@KyleBGanger maybe they have tail bones? Idk seems like something skate dads would do
Awesome board. Would love to see you on a custom Ben Degros dimensions Life board
Hell yea 4 hour skate sesh then a nice Ben degros video

a guy at HousePark atx has a big square Life deck🔨💪
Ooooh doing a painting deck video would be fun! What do you think?
I see what you mean about the sound. Sounds strong, dense.
Just was thinking about one of these
Yeaaaaa do it!!
SeaRat skateboards would be cool !
Dom is the best!!!!
All tricks seemed so clean on this deck.

Big, thicc, heavy, stiff... so, are they strong and durable like those back in the 80's? Looks like I HAVE TO try one of those.
Yes I’m sure it is.
Yes that's exactly what its like.
review ace AF1 please
I want to try the 10.5 barn pop
So where’s the link to get one of these boards.
"Woah it's thick, what it's heavy"
Phrasing Ben! Phrasing!

It's not but I can do some research and figure it out.

hey ben i love your content and i was wondering where are the best skate spots for beginners in vancouver?
I would love to see a madness skate deck review 🤩
Did you try any super light trucks on it? Would be interesting to see if that offsets the weight of the deck or if it just turns out weird

Hey Ben, are we getting an ace af1 review?
What’s your shoes in the video? Vans classics?
video quality looking fresh
heh, looked like he used a Schmitt Stix Rip Saw as a template for one of those decks.
Where's the ACE AF1 Truck review???

can you do quasi skateboard review
that would be nice
Brockhampton yeaaaa
Do a Skeleton Key deck from Cam Noren next!!!!

You should see if you could do all your usual tricks with the dvs cammoche shoe or however you spell it
thought it said Lithe Skateboards review. Have literally been waiting a year to get my pre-order for the Slate 3. Maybe I should just ask for a refund
You should review the ace af1s
Are the lines on the grip tape for lining up specific foot position on tricks or just an aesthetic choice?
Looks like he only had 8" grip tape.
1st skate part was a better flow / edit - seemed more fluid and fun.
You should check out the new spitfire conical full 97d's!
sounds like venture v light forged hollow highs would be good on that board but i know you hate venture highs haha
Ben please try the new Ace AF1s
I just watched an 80s movie, dang are you related to jean Claude van dam?
Would love to see a trick battle video
Do a review on Flip boards.
