    Thanks for sharing 🙂🙂🙂

    Pharmacist

I had a lot of unpleasant experiences about GPs. It is very frustrating to visit a doctor in the U.K. all GPs work differently and some of them don’t really care about the patient! Googling the symptoms in front me, not transferring me to a specialist even though I have a record of long term illness, asking me to go to the GP which is 1hour away from my dorm for a blood test while the local hospital is just 10mins away, the GP is not letting me to book a blood test although the specialist already requested for me. So much miscommunication and this really wasted resources, time and money on both sides. Hopefully the system will get better! And I really appreciate that you made this video. I wish there was such informative video before I went to the UK

@@nycsimon2024 I am glad that there is someone who is trying to discuss the topic rationally instead of being aggressive. Well. I think we have different opinions because we are from different background.
In Taiwan / Hong Kong, all residents are also offered free doctor appointments and subsidised treatment / prescription if you chose public health service (hospitals in public sector). I never had problems with booking blood tests or anything related to transfer from "GPs" to specialists. Although you will need to pay for the appointment at the general practice (some are exempt by the way), there is a range of GPs/ private specialist clinics you can choose from compared to the UK.
In the UK, you usually need to wait for the GPs to refer you to the specialist at the hospital. This process could be long and frustrating, and sometimes this postpone the best timing for treatment (for serious cases). But you only see your doctor for 10 minutes and I see different doctors every time. I didn't choose to, I was assigned to. It is not like I don't want to choose private clinics but they are very expensive compared to those in Taiwan and Hong Kong. It is nearly not possible to afford after you paid all taxes in the UK. Just in case someone said I took all these for free and I should appreciate it. I genuinely appreciate all the effort that good medical staff made. I have seen amazing doctors and medical staff. But to be honest, I didn't really receive all these for free because I paid my NHS fee every year and the sum I paid is more than what I received. I like living in the UK, I love the culture here but it doesn't mean I have to love the system. I think there is room to improve in the public health sector.
Do you know GOV UK spent ~£10bn on covid-19 test and trace programme? They could have used this sum more efficiently.

And specific on this one, I have a question that I hope you can help to answer.

Susie where did u learn your Mandarin Chinese from? TBH your verbal Chinese is much better than mine as yours doesn't have much accent. Great stuff!

都只會吩咐你drink more water and take rest。

Some people have been offered a choice; it seems to depend on which venue you go to!

My experience was, to see a GP in UK, we will need to book for an appointment. The appointment date can be several days later, so by the time you get to see a GP, your illness may have already be gone by then. I'm not sure if it is still the case now.
Here in Malaysia, private GPs accept walk in patients, we dispense medications from clinic, not necessary need to get from the pharmacy/chemist. In government clinics, patients are also seen on the same day although the queue are always long.
Due to limited supply, COVID-19 vaccination is arranged by the government. All vaccinees do not get to choose the vaccine brand, where and when to be vaccinated. And it is free.

This video is brilliant! I am teaching a group of international students who will study in the UK in a near future. I will ask them to watch your video.
