@@bwturbex We were on board on a day when a storm had already started and we went down into the hold and engine room. And there, below, the waves and the pitching were incredibly felt.
After many years of dreaming about visiting a place in my own country, I finally made it there in 2007. It was the cliff palaces of the Mesa Verde National Park in the US. There are ruins there around 2,000 years old. It was a place I wanted to visit with my son, but sadly he passed in 1996. So I took a locket full of his ashes and left them there in the ruins. Seeing the beautiful cliff palaces was almost overwhelming and I will admit I sat down for a moment and teared up.
Thank you so much for sharing such a deeply personal and moving story. It’s incredible how places hold the power to connect us with those we've lost and evoke such emotions. I can only imagine how special and bittersweet that moment must have been for you, finding a sense of closeness with your son amidst the ancient beauty.
Raffle comment : This year I finally got the chance to visit Xinjiang following the steps of people who walked on the Ancient Silk Road. On the way, driving up to 400 km a day, there are staggering mountains covered in snow ,canyons, blu lakes, rivers and the amazing Taklamakan desert with gorgeous sand dunes. I have seen Yaks, camels , horses on the vast grasslands and the most amazing of all, in my eyes, the Stone City and many other ruins where, hundreds of years ago, people stopped to rest for a few days before continuing the long journey on the Silk Road. Last stop was Kashgar old city, with it’s beautiful mix of friendly people. I spent days there talking with the locals taking their portraits and eating delicious food. It is a place like no other and so unique.
Thanks for this beautiful footage/film again👍 I've stayed nearly a week with my camper between the two submarine bunkers and also visited all the spots. That was end October 2023 and one ship was already sunken at that time.
Thank you so much for watching and for your kind words! It’s incredible to hear that you spent nearly a week exploring between the submarine bunkers and checking out the same spots. It must have been quite an experience camping out there and taking in the eerie yet beautiful scenery. These abandoned relics are fading fast, which makes documenting them even more important.
The quality of your videos is really good, I appreciate the effort you guys put while making them. When I am chilling at my home, I put your videos on my TV to watch and they always make me feel inspired to travel and to explore. I am studying software engineering and I plan to find a remote job in few years so I can travel Europe. Thanks for sharing your journey with us, you guys inspire me since I came across your youtube chanel three years ago, I really aprecciate it. ❤
Glad to see you guys back! Hope the content keeps coming - you're one of the best urbex channels I watch. I've been a ton of places but one that stands out that I keep going back to is City Methodist Church in Gary, IN. I know, everyone has been there. But having been visiting it almost every year for well in excess of 15 years, watching the changes take place has been fascinating and heartbreaking at the same time. Many places in Cleveland also hold a special place for me. There's a couple of whales on my list that I hope to hit this spring out in the Maryland / DC area that look intense to say the least. If I'm exploring, I'm happy!
I wish it had been urbex but about 10 years ago I was in Jamaica. I went with my family as part of a cruise but I'm well known for leaving off on my own adventures. So, I hired a taxi in search of "candle shops" which is the Jamaican style of metaphysical store. Most of these are favored by Voodoo and Hoodoo practitioners, which I am not, but I am interested in the cultural significance of it. My driver was happy to oblige but said it was because as a Christian, he wanted to make sure I was safe and protected. As a middled aged Caucasian woman, I understood his meaning quite quickly. But the trip was fascinating. On one side of the road were luxury, all-inclusive resorts. on the other, shells of concrete or metal blocks that were multi-family homes. People living in metal semi-trailer boxes, holes for windows, cooking out the front door. In town, when I got out of the cab, school had just gotten out. Kids were fascinated by this white woman who had a bag of candy to share around. I was quickly put in my place in terms of privilege and have done my best to live a better, more practical life
BWT, I received my copy of ur book! Every single page filled with your's and Toby's adventures! Im taken back to each explore!! I'm so happy that National Geographic has taken interest in ur work!! I've always known you've had those qualities!!
Thank you so much for your amazing feedback and support! We're thrilled you purchased the book and that it brings back memories of our explorations. Do you understand everything, even though it's German?
Well done video, as always! My favorite videos are the ones from the Balkans (because I am from Serbia) and I love to see you guys do something you really like! Boka is beautiful place and I love to go there on vacation. I recommend doing an easy hike to Gornji Stoliv, if you plan on visiting Montenegro again. You will get an incredible view of Boka. 🤩
Oh wow, beautiful landscape as well. I like all your videos, but the most interesting to me are old powerplants. Those with art deco or victorian style. For example cast iron staircases or control panels made from marble 😲
Hab erst verstanden no new content😱😂 Liebe Grüße aus dem Ruhrpott 😘
Good to have you guys back. Great explore and insight into the history and ultimate demise of the items you explored. Shiey and Gifgas explored this area sometime last year(?) and the change even in that short time is interesting.
Thanks for the warm welcome! We’re glad to be back sharing our explorations. We actually filmed this spot before the other guys did, but it's fascinating how fast some of these places can transform in just a short time. Appreciate your support and interest in the history we share!
Thanks for your kind words! Yes, we’re back and excited to share more adventures. This summer was packed for us: Till spent time in Brazil, while I was volunteering with Sea Shepherd Germany and working on other projects. It’s great to be back, and we appreciate you sticking with us through it all.
A very nice explore again, thnx guys, this is the only way military stuff should be found rotten and decaying away, sadly we first have too get writ off that bald guy in the east.
Exploring these places always makes us reflect on the passage of time and history's lessons. Here's to uncovering the past and hoping for a better future for all. Stay safe and stay curious!

Thank you for your kind words and for sharing this reflection! It's true - there's something humbling about seeing structures and achievements that once stood as symbols of human strength now being reclaimed by time. It reminds us of the impermanence of even our greatest triumphs and how nature inevitably weathers down all that we build. This aspect of urban exploration can feel philosophical, showing that change and decay are just as natural as growth.
Hi Benjamin, we saw your order in our shop, and we're super grateful to have you as a supporter! Thanks so much, my friend! BWT can only exist because of great fans like you!
Awesome stuff as always. ice bit of trivia regarding the styrofoam at the end. Good thing you didn't get caught by the military, as they usually are not very keen on having their stuff and grounds trespassed. I hope you guys have good lawyers, just in case.
We don't have any lawyers, but fun fact: we did get caught by the military in the past. This was in Poland in 2020, I think. They called the military police but let us go at the end. Because we're just some tourists with cameras, right?
Hooray, a new Balkan video at last! Worth the wait. The first part of the video, you explain that the 2 boats are next to an active military base. So how did you manage to get daylight drone footage of the ships? Extra sneakiness, stealth drones? Then the abandoned military base you explored, that must be a different place farther up the coast? Great new spooky music to go along with this one. Lastly, nice car with the tent on the roof. Did Til finally give up on repairing his old one? So good to see you guys out exploring the world again (even though I know this is old footage.)
Hey Judi, we just went there with the drone after finishing our exploration. We did it quickly and left right after. We had no troubles doing so. About the car: We took this car because the Lada broke down when we wanted to head to the Balkans. It was just a temporary replacement! Till still got his Lada and you will see a lot more of it here in Balkan Detours Seasons 2 & 3!
In December, there's even more to come. We'll post videos from a chemical wasteland, from a rotten bunker in Eastern Europe and a totally decayed hospital!
Hoq could I have missed this? I visited Kotor this summer and even went into two submarine tunnels, but didn't see these ships! Cool find :) Edit: Just finished the video. Looked like we were just too late.
It's not an urbex place, but the most interesting place for me was Varosha, the southern quarter of Famagusta. They made it available to the public only a few years ago. People also know this place under the name "Ghost Town".
Great point, and thanks for looking out for us! CO2 and oxygen depletion in enclosed, rusting spaces like old boats is a serious concern. Rust can indeed contribute to oxygen depletion, which, without proper ventilation, could create dangerous conditions. Before exploring such areas, we check for ventilation and make sure air quality is safe. We'll continue to keep these risks in mind and show how we mitigate them in future videos. Thanks for engaging and sharing this important info!
We did a video about the place in Bobda which will be the first episode of the second season of Balkan Detours! Also, we really want to explore Romania again!
@@bwturbex Oh yes lots of other differences, the Slavic characters and accents, another Z where the question mark usually is, two C C after the L, the Cap numbers are all different, etc.
While you guys explore the abandoned ghost ship with shorts on and skin exposed, where you not worried for not taking any precaution from getting infections from rusty metals? With just one cut to your skin you may have been infected with tetanus bacteria, or even die from sepsis!
Thanks for your concern! Safety is definitely something we take seriously, even when it might not look like it on video. While we did dress lightly due to the heat and activity involved, we were cautious in navigating the ship’s structure. We checked for stability and avoided areas with sharp, rusty metal or obvious hazards. As for tetanus risk, you’re right - it’s a valid concern with old, corroded metal. Fortunately, we’re all up to date on our tetanus vaccinations.
@bwturbex I really love how you all investigated the ship while giving background history. The footage is always the best quality as is the story & editing. I myself enjoy anything military affiliated & I'm anxiously awaiting a time when you get the opportunity to go to what used to be Hahn AFB. My family was stationed there in the 90s. TY for your hard work!

@bwturbex Good as always. Thanks guys.
This ship sank almost two years ago during a storm. We were probably the last to board it. A week after I was already filming the sunken ship.
How incredible and bittersweet at the same time! It must have been an unforgettable experience to board it just before it met its fate.

Are you aware of CO2 traps in old boats? The rust depletes oxygen and if not proper ventilation could be a death trap.
Thanks for engaging and sharing this important info!
cool video
Thx! What kind of exploration should we upload next?

Can you spot the other differences, too?
@@bwturbex Oh yes lots of other differences, the Slavic characters and accents, another Z where the question mark usually is, two C C after the L, the Cap numbers are all different, etc.

Yes, he went there with Shiey one or two years after we've been there.

1. Naval base.
2. Large caliber means heavy machineguns. Assault rifles are quite small.

Are you having cool abandoned places in your country?
Awesome! 😎
What did you like the most about this video?
@bwturbex I really love how you all investigated the ship while giving background history. The footage is always the best quality as is the story & editing. I myself enjoy anything military affiliated & I'm anxiously awaiting a time when you get the opportunity to go to what used to be Hahn AFB. My family was stationed there in the 90s. TY for your hard work!
