IM SO GLAD YOU PICKED UP ON THAT!! I made all of the message dates coincide with events on the timeline of the Chernobyl disaster, with the ending chorus lining up with the exact time the reactor exploded :D The image scrolling through the background is also a graph of energy levels during the disaster, and you can see them start spiking as the song goes on. Also, the images flashing in the background at the end are from cleanup efforts!
@@minarishell If you'd like something else to look into, the STALKER series is in a similar vein. Ferry's works also imply that the energies released by the unnamed disaster created a hostile 'zone' that ever shifts and creates unusual artifacts and mutants. The STALKER series similarly explores this, while the mutants are replaced with sentient anomalies that manipulate the elements and similarly have protagonists or affiliated groups that do excursions into these forbidden 'zones'. Admittedly Ferry's take is more about a slice of life with the horror of everything in the background.

In Strugasky's Roadside Picnic it was aliens leaving their trash out, in the Tarkovsky's film it was some meteorite falling (as both were made before the Chernobyl disaster). PAFL obviously implies the meltdown theory, though the events happen somewhere in Belarus (confirmed, as in the recent comic, Execution, the characters use the local currency)
SO GOOD, I love how at 1:16 the timestamp of the message has an integer overflow but then with the "turn back the clock" line the timestamp gets reverted and then with "I will set it in motion" it increments. so many cool little details

I thought it'd be cool to throw in a bunch of oblique little references to PAFL lore, since im pretty sure the line where that happens, "a gear in the machine grew immune to corrosion", is about the character this song is about becoming immune to aging :D all of the references to Chernobyl are for similar reasons
