To his defense, either he is just tired or its a condition. If so I might have something similar too. The yawning is outside of ones power. You can only tell the muscles "no go the other way" while the vegetative nervous system feels like your enemy at that moment, which will produce a very weird grimace for a few seconds. With me its a mild case of a.d.d., so without the hyperactivity. Im very calm and get random bursts of hyperfocus where I feel like a calculator and afterwards that edge is suddenly gone and i loose focus, forget stuff that has been said seconds ago and my mind becomes a little bit clouded like If I were a geezer. Its on and off. So for me its pointless to use multiple handtraps. I often keep to playing 3 copies of 1 at max. I always got to yawn if my brain isnt satisfied with the ammount of dopamine it gets from what its doing, despite me genuinly enjoying that activity. No more shorts and "background" videos, long walks while leaving the phone at home, riding a bike, long (maybe older, slow-pace) films about only 1 topic, strategy games such as yugioh, drawing, conversational training with good friends that know about it, reading books and many other forms of general dopamine detox and correctional behaviour help to rewire the brain. I think a good first step is to become concious about it and react. I am making that step.
