Paraiba Tourmaline is named after the Paraiba Mine which was named after the state of Paraiba in Brazil. While some Paraiba Tourmalines can come from other countries like Mozambique. None of them have the vibrant cyan/blue-green color that rivals the Paraiba Tourmalines from the mine in Paraiba, Brazil.

Actually, I prefer the blue green Paraiba’s from Mozambique to the more turquoise color from Brazil.
And so do most Asians who can afford the stones…

Though I agree, these Tourmaline's are exquisite, the commentator states that these are, "re-cut by Vuitton to maximize beauty & they altered the speed of light traveling through the stone to achieve these dazzling effects" (1:30 - 1:40) I disagree!
Maybe they altered the light to speed up and pass right through the stones? Sarcasm intended here.
All of the stones shown in this video have huge windows and leak a lot of light, these cuts are not maximized for Tourmaline, which has a tendency to "black out" dependant on the orientation of the cut to the axis. If you’re going to lose weight by re cutting any color stone, the least you can do is make sure your getting rid of windows and extinction. Which I would Think would be the reason and only reason to recut in the first place. I believe that anyone who has seen a large amount of this material will agree that these are no doubt large and beautiful! Yes, this color Tourmaline is rare , but these cuts really lack the attention the stones deserve and could use another look at those facet angles.

Taps fan. Your opinion is dually noted and respected. I still however disagree about over exaggerating my opinion. In my personal experience and years of having worked directly with this material, I believe, affords me the recognition and differentiation of a well thought out cut with proper facet alignments VS. A misalignment which allows some light to pass directly through the stone. Utilizing the proper Refractive index of the stone and proper orientation of the cut is the cutters art, they can achieve this perfection by bouncing the captured light back to the eye through the table and crown facets by bouncing the captured light off of the interior of the pavilion facets at just the proper angle. This attention to the mathematics of light entering and leaving the stone would maximize the brilliance. No offence intended. I personally feel that if I were to be expected to pay top dollar for a rare material I would demand excellence and OCD like attention to the design of the faceting to exceed expectations and not rest on a well written spiel to sell or interest me in a gem no matter who the seller or name brand.

freedo yop othman chemical and atomic make-up. Refractive index. Specific gravity. Hardness. Toughness. Crystal habits. In a word.. alot

Sapphire is harder at 9, next to diamond (hardest at 10), so is used more often in jewelries... while tourmaline's hardness is only at 7-7.5. Hardness is the measure if the stone breaks and scratches easily..

A wasted gems is such cookie cutter settings !! The Jewelers just using the name of the horrible designer ! And of course all the tasteless new riches will be impress with the name and that is all ! This is like compare the old french chandeliers with the new horrible shombeck chandeliers that are made for Hollywood movies that are the epitome of bad tastes !!...
