About 4-5 weeks ago, I found a section of my Thanksgiving cactus lying on the floor. It is about 6-7 inches long. I couldn't just throw it away, so I dipped it in some rooting hormone and put it in a 2 inch pot. About a week ago, I walked past it and was very surprised to see a flower bud on it! I wish I could post a picture here.

I'm getting an Easter cactus cutting with my order of Thanksgiving cactus, so learning all I can about the Easter cactus. Sounds like the care is basically the same for both. Thank you!

Excellent advice about allowing the cutting to callous over, that is a mistake I made but won't gain thanks to your video.

3-5 days to dry out means that you'll get a higher success rate.

what kind of water do you use to root the plant? Tap water okay or filtered? rain water? Or does it matter?

Why do they rot in wet soil but not when rooted in water?

Thank you for sharing this I was wondering what the measurements would be from potting soil to purolite!
Should you water from the bottom or the top?

If your soil is well drained then watering from the top, Mitzi, should present no problems. I use:- 2x potting mix to 1 x Perlite (medium size)
