As a native English speaker I have a very important tip for anyone concerned with "English accents". Truth is, there is no such thing as an "English accent". People who speak English have different accents all over the world and we understand each other just fine. For example, I'm from the US. People from England, Australia, or even people in the US have different accents when speaking English. You can bend the rules with English and still be understood. So don't put a lot of pressure on yourself about your accent. There are native English speakers who break the rules when speaking all the time. Especially, in the US! People in the Southern US speak with a different accent than people in the Northeast US. It's ok. Just focus on pronunciation. Even "broken English" can be understood to most English speakers. If there is a word or thought you're having trouble with, just ask. Most native speakers will be happy to help. Just don't worry about something like your accent. It's not that important and it's the last thing you should worry about. The person in this video made a personal choice to speak with an American accent. Totally fine, but certainly not mandatory to speak English. *Just a little advice. I hope it helps.* -Good luck

I'm not a native English speaker and I can't agree with you. If someone can speak English but doesn't seem even to try to sound like natives, for me it looks like he or she just doesn't give a sh*t.

I totally agree with you. My listening skill improved a lot by simply listening to an American local radio every day for about an hour or two without focusing on what they are talking about and after sometime I noticed that I started to understand what they’re talking about and later on I noticed that my listening skill has improved a lot.

Your ideas to master english learning are very interesting.
By the way, this is Stephen's krashen theory. He developed the concept of Massive input: listen a lot and read a lot.
Steve Kaufman said the same thing.
In my point of view this is an excellent strategy to learn another language.
When I listen your voice accent, there isn't difference between you and a native speaker.
you have reached an excellent level. Your mastery of the language is better than some french diplomats or ministers. well done!
I think I will need at least 4 years to get closer to your level in english ( my strategy is : I never give up till I succeed!). I am quite impressed because in addition you are very young and english is not your mother tongue. In France, there is only 15% of people who speak english at a high level.
My method to learn english: massive input: listen a lot, read a lot, write a lot.
And when I am ready, I speak.
I think my main problem, I speak a little.

Great video, as usual. Congratulations! Keep in mind that you can only build the thoughts your repertoire of words and sentences allows you to build. Do not try to think (and speak) in a foreign language with the same level of complexity you would use in your native language and at the same speed. It would not be possible. Allow yourself to go back to your infancy for a while and limit yourself to think and speak like a kid. You will get back to your usual complexity level when your control of the language will make it possible.

Yes. You right. I´m learning reading and listenning. I travel to Japan in 2001.- I was learning english 6 months. Quickly. However was useful. But even I talked a little and I studied very much during my international trainning course of environmental control engineering. My japanish and asian friends don´t talked a lot of english as me. We understood our feelings. We were very good friends. Maybe beacause my course was about control pollution engineering. Maybe. Now I want to speak as a native speaker.

When I was in my first year of high school French, I simply muddled along until late in the year when I realized that I had begun thinking in French. You MUST keep pushing with a new language until you begin thinking in that language. From that point, you can very quickly become fluent. Very few people will keep pushing that snowball up the hill until you get to the top and then the snowball rolls under its own momentum.

Thanks so much for the video, I agree on everything you said. I could see myself throughout your journey. I’m not as good as you are but I feel like I’m fallowing your path. I try surround myself with English everyday, I speak to myself about what I’m doing or am going to do etc. I can see myself when you say something like, with the time your brain get used to hear English and when you speak you know when you do mistakes or it doesn’t sound the good, it happens all the time, I know exactly what you mean.
For the last 3 weeks, I have the opportunity to speak with a new friend from Maine that I met online, she helps me a lot. My speaking is my biggest weakness and it should help me a lot. I try to do the same to help her with her French. It a win-win situation.
Keep being the same , I really like your authenticity, your content and your testimonies.
    Have a good one!

As a Native English speaker I can honestly say that we all pretty much sound different. I don’t sound like many people around me even though we live in the same area. I’ve always been very careful not to use a lot of slang whether it’s English, Spanish, French or sign language. Something I’ve learned (from using sign language since I’m now very hard of hearing) is that you can also gesture when you can’t think of a word. Most people will understand you regardless of your accent. Try not to stress yourself out by trying to sound like someone else. Good luck !
