We all love klezmer! Remember when you bought an accordion for $75? I just got one in the mail for $0.01, I’ll be making a video sharing my experience in the coming months along with a restoration.

The real challenge is sitting still to a Klezmer tune, I wouldn't be able to contain myself if I ever saw this stuff played live

At about 2:50 you say, after the Eb "and then a whole note up to F". It's a step and 1/2 not a whole step.
    Thank you for this.

We find that scale (mode) in other music styles, it has something that just hits you! 😍 Similar to the hijaz maqam in arabic music.

I think this is also called Phrygian Dominant. It's a Phrygian scale with a raised 3rd!

Hi Ronin, I'd like to ask you a question. Would you consider "Hevenu Shalom Aleichem" a klezmer song? I'm talking about this song: ua-cam.com/video/JB4RMIWroMY/v-deo.html
Because there's another Shalom Aleicem song.
    Thanks.

Hi. Good question. If we play 'Hevenu Shalom' in the key of Gm, as an example, then yes, you can use that D 'klezmer' scale. It'll work. The chords I use are Gm Cm D7 Eb D7 and back to Gm. You can hear in that recording, the clarinet is playing the klezmer scale. BUT, to me that song is more of a Jewish folk song, rather than a 'pure' klezmer song, if such a thing exists :)
