I was so sad when I heard David had died. Not really surprising given his age but damn it hurt. The tribute episode was so heartfelt. And Brian (Dr. Palmer)REALLY got to exercise his acting chops. I didn’t see a fumbling ME, desperate to impress his mentor, rather I saw an ME prepared to face to the future. This is what Ducky would’ve wanted…his protege to be ready. I hope David had a calm peaceful journey home. We will miss you. Somehow Ducky you touched everyone’s lives who had the uncommon privilege of watching you week after week.
Gibbs should’ve come. I mean out of everyone in the show, Gibbs and Jimmy had the closest friendships in with Ducky and obviously Jimmy was there. How could Gibbs not show up in honor of his best and closest friend
NCIS pathos seems to be emoting thru the music.I play the cd by Brian Kirk often. And it can be overwhelming to watch sometimes...and you watch it when you can enjoy it. Tears and all. 😉

I imagine the ENTIRE NCIS cast had a soft spot for David McCallum .... he probably was the "elder papa" of the show. the show could have made his tribute episode two hours and it wouldn't have been enough time.
If he thought of the younger members of the team as his kids he probably thought of Ducky as a fatherfigure like Jackson and headslapping either of them would be disrespectful in his mind plus the fact they'd probably headslap him right back.

This time, Ducky finally got him.. (Andrew Robinson played Garak, a Cardassian Spy) A fitting tribute. I watched Superman III and Robert Vaughn was a great actor of his time. Eternal Rest “Ducky” our finest spy, turned NCIS, M.E.

Like Vance said (Well him quoting Ducky) people die twice, once due to body and again when stories stop being told of them. I can say for sure that the stories of David McCallum will be told for many many years to come.
I remember when I was younger watching reruns of uncle the man from uncle and David McCallum was one the one of the operatives in that show that’s when I saw him first so I have a long history of watching him. I’m not old as you think I am in my 40s I watched him in reruns him and reruns.
I watched the show the first time around ... I was 12 ... and was rewatching it when Uncle Earl's went down. And other things he did ... incredible actor.
