بدعت کو چاہے حسنہ کہو یا سیئہ اس پر عمل کرنے والا بدعتی ہی کہلاتا ہے،
یہ نہیں ہو سکتا کہ عمل بدعت پر کرے اور کہلوائے اہل سنت، یعنی سنت پر عمل کرنے والا بھی اہل سنت اور بدعات پر عمل کرنے والا بھی اہل سنت یہ نہیں ہو سکتا جیسے کہ بریلوی خود کو اہل سنت کہتے ہیں، یہ تو ایسا ہی ہے کہ کا فر بھی مومن اور مسلمان بھی مومن،
احادیث میں بدعتی کے لیے سخت وعیدیں ہیں
رسول پاک صلی اللہ علیہ والہ وسلم نے سیدنا علی رضی اللہ عنہ کو ایک صحیفہ لکھوایا جس میں درج ہے :
"مَنْ أَحْدَثَ فِیهَا حَدَثًا أَوْ آوَى مُحْدِثًا فَعَلَیهِ لَعْنَةُ اللَّهِ وَالْمَلَائِكَةِ وَالنَّاسِ أَجْمَعِینَ لَا یقْبَلُ مِنْهُ صَرْفٌ وَلَا عَدْلٌ
جس نے اس(مدینہ) میں کوئی بدعت ایجاد کی یا کسی بدعتی کو پناہ دی تو اس پر اللہ تعالى , فرشتوں , اور تمام لوگوں کی لعنت ہو ۔ اس سے کوئی فرضی یا نفلی عبادت قبول نہیں کی جائے گی "
