LOL, I just listened to the recorded version of this walking home last night and was again overwhelmed by how incredible it is. In fact with the albums prior song, DREAMTIME, makes for quite an emotional deeply moving experience. Magnification is IMO their best FULL album since the early days! But time has treated those albums well, and I think their brilliance is becoming more widely recognized. Great reaction!

Wonderful reaction Lee, so glad you're diving into this phenomenal concert DVD. There are so many highlights, this piece is unquestionably one of them, one of their best compositions from the later years. The studio version on Magnification does have the orchestral arrangements as well as does most of the pieces on the album. From memory I think Rick was invited to be part of Magnification & the symphonic tour but he couldn't make it due to solo commitments so they went with the orchestra & no keyboardist for the studio album & drafted in Tom Brislin (current keyboardist for Kansas) for the tour. The concert DVD opens with a brilliant performance of Close to the Edge to a standing ovation! The Gates of Dilerium is absolutely breathtaking, so many other gems as well. Definitely check out Magnification, love the title track & Give love each day. Also Homeworld & It will be a good day from the album prior The Ladder. All the best!

A very beautiful, emotional song from the last studio Yes album that Jon sang on. You should try "Give Love Each Day", from Magnification. There is also a short song called "Can You Imagine" that Chris sings lead vocals on, with Jon and Steve singing background vocals on it! Great reaction, as usual!

Hey Lee! Nice reaction! Such a beautiful song. Magnification is a great piece of work. Very orchestral. The album is just SO DAMN good. Enjoying the YES ride with you . Keep it up brother…
I love you man..... Yes are one of only two bands that are capable of reducing me to tears... I think when music can do this then it has definitely done its job. Tangerine Dream is the other band.🎼🎶🎵❤
It definitely got me here my friend. They are so damn powerful at points that I felt a divine presence in my room during the song. So good. So, so good.
Magnification is a very good album. Alan played the piano at the beginning on the album and on stage. Tom is a great keyboardist. I saw him play with Renaissance when they warmed up for Hackett's band in Quebec City.
When I weep listening to YES I can't tell if it's because the music is so emotional or if it's because they are just so damn good. Either way it moves me even after countless listens over many decades.
No need to apologize for getting emotional when listening to any music, and doubly so for YES music since it is supposed to get you there - either insightful, introspective, enlightened, or out there - exuberant, joyous, dancing... For me, seeing younger folks "get it" is a treasure. Keep it up! There are more jewels in the YES treasure chest. Also, when ANYONE makes contact with that "Divine" that Jon talks about, they magnify the sacredness of the ground upon which they stand - yeah, I went there - and by doing that, by telling others, by making these YT videos for all to see, you relay the message that the Divine is all around us if we will only stop and see - you become the relayer....THAT SAID.... did you notice that it was Alan playing the piano during the opening of the song? It was his inspiration....! (Alan is also a primary composer of "Turn of the Century." Yeah, he's that good!) Keep it up my friend. It's good. Real good. And continue to make your own music: it's good for everyone's soul!

Hi Lee. Yes 'Symphonic Live' is one of the best Concerts Yes ever done. If you buy this on DVD, please take not the Blueray, buy only the normal DVD, here you have the possibility to hide the Icons and see the whole Show without the Icons, because the Icons are very disturbing (in my opinion). On the Blueray it is not (!!) possible. The whole Show 'Live in Amsterdam' (2001) Duration: 150 Minutes. It is a phantastic Concert. By the way: The Album 'Magnification was published on 9/11/ 2001. No Joke! ☺Kind Regards - Heinz (Munich). Greetings also to your Family. 🌳🥀🌱🌷✨❤
Ah, I saw me, maybe three pixels wide 🙂 That was so unique, with that orchestra that clearly really enjoyed this progressive rock. And good music brings tears to the eyes when it touches.
I was listening to this album when I decided to ask my wife to marry me. Saw this tour in Columbus and Dayton, in Columbus they had Porcupine Tree open for them, they were excellent. Love this album.
Glad this connected with you, Lee. Jon Anderson works really hard to deliver a message of enlightenment through his lyrics and music. I've bashed his more recent work for being a bit heavy on message but light on musical quality, but this one hits the mark better than most latter day Yes songs. It's not perfect (the ending is underwhelming, IMO), but this song is probably the pinnacle of the Magnification album, which is IMO the pinnacle of Yes albums over the last 25 years. BTW, one of the better things about this video is watching Tom Brislin having the time of his life. IMO he's 'the one who got away'. I'd take him on keyboards any day over Geoff Downes, but Geoff gives the band more legitimacy to use the Yes name without Jon or Chris around.
i have this video and I still can't work out where all the extra voices are, unless they're MIDIed through Tom Brislin's keyboard from his mic. Btw - you should check out the rest of the concert, because Tom is amazing, esp on Ritual and Gates of Delirium.
So glad I tuned in today, as always, but this was a real treat. This was one of those songs I kinda missed because I was a Yes purist. But seeing Steve, Jon and Chris just doing what they do best, backed by a symphony was so good! Also, I felt like your mind and mine were joined as you made the comment about the ‘fishbowl’ view; I nodded, waited a split second, and ar the same time you did, said, “fisheye?” 😅 But letting this special band and music remind you to the point of tears that you are always on holy ground is a good thing. You cannot ever lose, in reality, your connection to your true spiritual self. Call it what you want. I call you brother.
I call you brother too 🙏thank you for being here. This song truly touched me in a way I didn't think was possible. I really felt a divine presence at points. Kinda wild lol glad we were of one mind at points,:)
I was also just thinking you’re mentioning a few time that you wish you could have seen them. You might consider going to see Jon if he comes around with the Band Geeks again, they are quite good. Look up some of those videos.
I suppose that if one really feels immersed "in the presence of" the Divine, anywhere you happen to stand would be "sacred ground". I envy people who can feel that way. The "Magnification" album is [arguably] the last time Yes achieved greatness. And some of the other tracks are even better. That and the title track do come off very well live.
@L33Reacts that they are. Life is less arduous and more wondrous listening to them. Check out 'Song of Seven' from Jon's solo album of same name. ALSO check his entire solo album 'Toltec'. That whole album hits me upside down and sideways. Privately, for your own personal Jon enjoyment. Keep on it good sir! Love the channel.
Nice review, Justin . Thank you. I remember this album from my own punk and anarcho activist days in the eighties. My room mate had the record and spun it a lot. Never grew on me much then..., but now . Don't you find the singer's voice VERY similar to Peter Hamill (esp. in his more angry solo work)! ? If you like to check out some proggy/jazzy punk, check out NoMeansNo. Album: Wrong
John's adorable but when founding member Peter Banks died (who named the band), all members of Yes posted their RIPs on their social media --- except Jon. As Rick Wakeman said, "John is trying to save the world, but he's doing it from another planet." Jon is also good at holding grudges.
Goodwill donation attendant (collecting donations from people in the drive thru) is an easygoing job (at least at the location where I worked) if you need something part time
Huh. Guess this must be from one of the later albums where I thought their lyrics became too straight forward and simple. They Kinda lost me around Keys/Magnification. Something changed in them (or me?!) and I saw it as too simple but without memorable melodies or hooks. Hmm. May be time to revisit the 2000-2010 music. Will have to watch this symphonic show too! Thanks for this listen fest on YesSaturday!

@pwethman1 It's actually beyond symphonic, Mirror to the Sky is a good example. I truly love the early stuff Yes did, but Mtt Sky really hit me after a few times through it. This coming from someone who bought their first Yes album in like 67 or 68. (Some haze to that time)

Fantastic. The orchestra members rock along and know the words it seems sometimes. Could you do more of this? Gates and CTTE are amazing ❤
I am definitely gonna do one of those from this show. I have to hear them with an orchestra! Must be absolutely mental
Do you notice Alan White is playing piano at the start
Beautiful man
i have this video and I still can't work out where all the extra voices are, unless they're MIDIed through Tom Brislin's keyboard from his mic.
Also, I felt like your mind and mine were joined as you made the comment about the ‘fishbowl’ view; I nodded, waited a split second, and ar the same time you did, said, “fisheye?” 😅
But letting this special band and music remind you to the point of tears that you are always on holy ground is a good thing.
Can anyone quantify how good this band is ?
Lee.......FYI Keyboardist Tom Brislin is a member of the band Kansas now.
I was also just thinking you’re mentioning a few time that you wish you could have seen them. You might consider going to see Jon if he comes around with the Band Geeks again, they are quite good. Look up some of those videos.
This one is going to get you 🎉🎉🎉
I suppose that if one really feels immersed "in the presence of" the Divine, anywhere you happen to stand would be "sacred ground". I envy people who can feel that way. The "Magnification" album is [arguably] the last time Yes achieved greatness. And some of the other tracks are even better. That and the title track do come off very well live.
Such a great tune! Thanks L33! Love these guys. Jon is so good here.
Glad you enjoyed it Ryan! These guys are so special. I love it so much.
As Rick Wakeman said, "John is trying to save the world, but he's doing it from another planet."
Jon is also good at holding grudges.
Yes put out multiple concert DVD’s in the early 2000’s and all of them are excellent.
And Magnification is the great overlooked Yes album.
I reccomend Mirror to the Sky man!
I'll add it to the list 😉
Yes is Hope.
Try to remember that.
For something truly Joyous, put 'Roundy on from this! I won't spoil
Tell me this music doesn’t make you Feel Good! The entire Magnification Album is Awesome!! Throw it on and Feel Good!! Road trip music!!!
Unfortunately the Magnification album was released on or near 9/11…so it didn’t get the attention it deserves! LOVE this album!!!❤
Wow! Love your reaction! Cuz that’s exactly what Yes does to me! Moves me…all thru my life!!❤
You should do a reaction video to ‘just waiting for a mate’. It would be awesome to see your head next to Clinton’s.
If you go to job interviews and you are yourself the way you are here...... and people don't like you, there is something wrong with THEM.
That's what great music can do to you! Terrific reactions L33 - heartfelt as always, thank you for sharing your emotions with the world - doesn't music make the world a better place! BTW, have you seen this clip: ua-cam.com/video/d_Va3e_52TE/v-deo.html It's Jon with Todmobile orchestra 'Awaken' - another stunning love performance! Bless you buddy, keep safe!
Symphonic Yes is an oxymoron.
Actually it’s a redundancy.
@@pwethman1 true
@pwethman1 It's actually beyond symphonic, Mirror to the Sky is a good example. I truly love the early stuff Yes did, but Mtt Sky really hit me after a few times through it. This coming from someone who bought their first Yes album in like 67 or 68. (Some haze to that time)
