You're not weird you're cool for loving the traditional country music from the good ol' days. What this modern world needs today is more young people like you to enjoy & appreciate listening to real country music. I work with a transport truck driver who loves the old classic country music & hates the modern pop rock country music of today.
My fatherinlaw played bass for Conwat twitty but this guy Del Reeves was my favorite. Always got to talk with him in the alley behind the opry. Funny man, good man.
I moved to Nashville in late '77 and played piano with him for about 2 years... if anyone has any photos, I would LOVE to have a copy... I look back on those days with the best of memories.. talk about an *entertainer"... when he was "on", he was the best. Anyone have video of him doing Johnny Cash...? Del could LOOK like him... it was amazing... thanks to all for the posts, -ws
Great to see Del again. He toured the UK and Europe for my father in the early 60s. Stayed with the family during that time, a great guy, we had a lot of fun.
Check out Bill Kirchen, he is still going. He was with Commander Cody and His Lost Planet Airmen who revived a lot of these tunes. Bill is a dynamite picker and for proof listen his long version of Hot Rod Lincoln! He has a new tune "Get A Little Goner". Then there is Austin Texas. Take a trip there and you will find everything you want.
@357hank No, you're not weird. I'm amost 70 and if you love this type of music, just NEVER GROW UP! ! ! Sometimes it isn't always good to 'keep up with the times'!
Thanks for sharing this country classic. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I like every Del Reeve's song I've ever heard. They don't make 'em like they used to ~ Bob Coltrain Kennedy
@357hank It's all about 'what sells'? Today's CW musicians are nothing short of fabulous. They're all into this stuff, just like you. Problem is, it won't sell.....
Is Del playing Leroy VanDyke's guitar? Leroy's name is on the guitar strap, must be his guitar. Just sorta strange. I guess Del left his guitar at home or with the repairman.

That man on guitar is my neighbor and friend George Owens. So much fun to watch.
